Finally, the story behind the hunt for Bin Laden begins to come clear – with some surprising twists and turns. It begins in GITMO, many years ago and probably involves extreme interrogation (e.g., water boarding, discomfort, etc):

Some time after Sept. 11, detainees held by the U.S. told interrogators about a man believed to work as a courier for bin Laden, senior administration officials said. The man was described by detainees as a protégé of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, and “one of the few Al Qaeda couriers trusted by bin laden.”

Initially, intelligence officials only had the man’s nickname, but they discovered his real name four years ago.

Emphasis mine. Note the time period for the initial leads – under President Bush and is aggressive pursuit of justice. One must also recall that the Obama administration does not perform extreme interrogation, and in fact has a bad habit of giving terrorists their Miranda Rights within hours of capture. This happened with all the supposed ‘lone wolfs’ coordinate by Anwar al Aulaqi, an American traitor supposedly hold up in Yemen.

I was wondering why the President seemed so defensive last night in his victory speech. He went out of his way to note how HE retained Bin Laden as a top priority, and how HE followed leads from last year.

But HE also tried to shut down GITMO, the source of the initial thread that led to Bin Laden yesterday. HE also ended aggressive interrogations. One has to wonder how close team Obama came to almost missing Bin Laden in a fit of political correctness which took hold in 2008? Remember, the lead on the courier’s actual identity only came to light in 2007! Was he fighting against the intel community on this one?

Final Update: Watched the President’s speech and I give it B-. It was rambling and sappy at times. It lost focus as the success of tonight was diluted with grand talk of equality. It was so syrupy in places I almost felt sorry for the teleprompter. And when the President wandered into the “I” did this and “I” did that part early on, it was horrible. He should have stayed with the “we”. And like what President would not make getting Osama Bin Laden priority 1?

In other areas, to balance out the overall speech, the President was right on. He noted how we have NEVER been at war with Islam, just at war with radical Islam. He noted Bin Laden is not a Muslim Leader, but a mass murderer (great line). He recognized the counter terrorism agencies and the special forces that went in and apparently tried to take Bin Laden alive. It was these areas of the speech which gave President Obama the “B” rating. In fact, if he had toned down the sappy-talk I was about to give him an “A”.

In any event – a night of celebration. Watch the liberals be surprised at the intensity of this celebration, and be shocked and awed by the hatred this nation held for this animal. – end update

Osama Bin Laden is dead, and justice is served for the 3,000 victims of his attacks on 9-11, pllus the tens of thousands his bloody butchers killed in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and all over the world:

Osama bin Laden, hunted as the mastermind behind the worst-ever terrorist attack on U.S. soil, has been killed, sources told ABC News.

Apparently the US has the body, but there is also a news black out so President Obama can bask in some glory. So be it. Bin Laden joins Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot and Saddam Hussein in the penthouse suite of hell.

Update: My guess is the WH will wait until tomorrow to bask in the limelight. One report claims Bin Laden was killed in Afghanistan or Pakistan:

Details of the death were sparse. He was killed in a military operation in Afghanistan, according to sources, though it was unclear which countries were involved. CNN reported that the al-Qaida leader was killed in a mansion outside Islamabad, the Pakistani capital.

Seems he was the victim of a Predator strike.

The congressional delegations of these states — Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, Virginia, and Kentucky — overwhelmingly voted to reject the science that polluting the climate is dangerous. They are deliberately ignoring the warnings from scientists.

These scientific morons know no bounds of decency, which goes with their boundless ignorance and crudeness. Trust me, this author truly struggled through high school science, and took the easiest path through college in terms of understanding the dynamics of nature, human evolution, the biosphere and physics. This fringe-case has no business even attempting to arbitrate what the science says and does not say. Take that from someone who regularly booked 2-3 labs a semester across all the science disciplines (math, biology, physics, chemistry) year after year. You can tell when someone has no prayer when it comes to grasping science.

Everyone agrees on both sides of the AGW debate: one week’s weather does not a century long pattern make.

Interestingly enough, a real scientist had this to say earlier this week about these fanatics, who are all about a cult of religion and nothing about the art of science:

The fear mongers always have their tin cup out, promising to harness mother nature if we accept their pseudo-science. It really is the oldest con of humankind, stretching back to the Pharaohs of Egypt.

Are their science challenged masses out there who will buy into this flim-flam scam? Of course. Brad will have is cult of sycophants praising his superior morality and intellect. But to those of us who work on the cutting edge of science, math, space exploration, etc – they guy is a two bit wannabe.

Here are some facts other can “google” if they wish.

• The amount of human generated CO2 in the US dropped significantly in the last year or so do to the recession. Therefore season’s weather is not the result of INCREASED CO2.
• Global temperatures have dropped off strongly this year (unless you use Hanson’s carefully selected data points, which smear the data from one biased site in the Arctic Circle over that entire portion of the globe all the while ignoring contrary satellite, sea surface temperature and other land based temperature readings). Nothing this year has to do with warming. At best, this is what happens when we cool.
• These storms are the worst in almost 40 years. Which means 40 years ago (which is many tons of CO2 and tenths of degrees of AGW increases ago) was the same as today Twister-wise. So here we are, experiencing the same weather we did before the cult of Al Gore/IPCC was even an evil twinkle in some warped mind.

There is no way to link this week’s tornadoes to global warming or CO2 levels. None, nada, zilch. Only a rank amateur and intellectual poseur would make such a dumb claim.

But hey, dumb claims seem to be the way of the fringes. On the right you have the Birthers and Anti-Evolution groups. On the left you have the Global Warming Alarmists, the 9-11 Truthers (a historic oxymoron as monikers go) and the Trig-mongers (see Andrew Sullivan and Wonkette for examples). All a demonstration of how Darwin was right.

BTW, that real scientist had this to say about CO2 as a pollution:

Climate changes and shorter-term weather events are the way nature balances itself, move heat and moisture around, and provide motivations for species to evolve. CO2 is a small but nonetheless important part of the system. Without it life would not exist at all. No polar bears, no penguins, no coral reefs – and certainly no rain forests that directly breathe in lots of the stuff. Don’t call it “pollution.” At least show it a little respect!

Geez, just show a little self-respect and try not to wander into topics your education and experience indicate you are not equipped to comment about.

There are three main groups at play in the Obama-Birther nonsense. So who won and who lost the last news cycle?

(3) The Birthers: No doubt the big losers. They are being (rightfully) ridiculed in the media. Like Trig-mongers who attack Sarah Palin, the Birthers missed the memo on how Americans are fed up with partisan foolishness. The only requirement right now for a candidate of either party to win elect ion is a modicum of maturity and backbone, with strong resistance to these stupid political stunts. The “Donald” was the laughing stock of the news cycle as he went in front of the microphones and patted himself on the back. Not one serious proposal about jobs, the debt and deficits, nor the economy. Just a promise to go after Obama’s school records. LOSER!

(2) President Obama: Half win, half lose. He went on a political road show with his BC and attempted to caste his thin-skin into a shield of aloofness. The fact still remains he jumped into the gutter two years too late in a . The fact he ignited racial insecurities in the African American community only underlines the President’s political motivations. He needs some juice on his side of the political debate – thus the current spectacle. Whoopi’s ‘race card’ blow up yesterday just put all race neutral independents on notice. Neither side is clean in this mess, though Obama is cleaner than his critics.

(3) Winners: Everyone who stayed above the fray. While the Birthers and Trig-Mongers wrestle in the political sewers, the rest of the company is looking for answers. Everyone who stayed out of the fringes is looking great right now.

Update: Anyone wishing to continue down the loser path of birtherism just remember – only the truly fevered support the Trig-mongers on the left. The mirror does not lie.

Sorry for the limited posting – was siidelined this weekend, but now on the mend. I also apologize for this tough love post, but I feel I need to point out that some of our allies have their mental zipper down in public.

One way to demonstrate you may not have the common sense to vote intelligently this election cycle is continually falling for the trap set by the left to snare lazy thinkers on the right – i.e., Obama’s birth certificate nonsense. When this silliness broke out I weighed in on all the BS and determined quite quickly and easily that the whole fake COLB thing was all about technical ignorance by some and not about the US Constitution.

I am gratified to look back today and see that no one is still grasping at the idea the COLB (Certificate of Live Birth – which the modern the template in Hawaii for a birth certificate) was forged. It was ignorance driven then, and is still ignorance driven. Of all the good reasons to fire our inexperienced, left wing President, this topic is not one of them.

However, today we see the silly headline that people do not believe Obama was born in the US – like that makes one bit of difference to his citizenship:

Still, in the USA TODAY poll, only 38% of Americans say Obama definitely was born in the USA, and 18% say he probably was. Fifteen percent say he probably was born in another country, and 9% say he definitely was born elsewhere.

You would think conservatives, long considered rubes by the liberal intelligentsia, would learn to see a trap painting them as rubes. The tally from this poll is 66% believe Obama was or may have been born in American, and a bizarre group of 24% think not. No one won an election with 24% of the vote.

Who cares anyway? The point about Obama’s citizenship has been and will always be about who is mother was, not where she was. She is an undisputed American. Therefore her children are natural born Americans (location has nothing to do with it, just ask any American born in international waters, international air space or in foreign countries). Obama is an American because of his mother – end of story.

I am a proud southern boy. I can throw on my slow, southern accent when needed. One thing about southerners is we love to use a slow accent to lull liberal northerners into thinking our slow speech indicates a slow mind. It is sometimes too easy to give the impression of a slow mind to an arrogant liberal.

Somehow, this birther nonsense just seems to be more slow mind than slow tongue. It seems to confirm a thick head, not simply be playing on as a ruse.

Count me out of this. And trust me when I say birthers and truthers are among the same misfits as moon landing deniers and flat earthers. You won’t find R-E-S-P-E-C-T down that path folks. Not from the left or right or center.

President Obama is heading full speed over the political cliff. The evidence is irrefutable.

First is the price of gas – an economic killer:

After rescinding his outright offshore drilling ban, President Obama has refused to issue any new drilling permits in the Gulf, a policy that the Energy Information Administration estimates will cut domestic offshore oil production by 13% this year.

Shell Oil Company has announced it must scrap efforts to drill for oil this summer in the Arctic Ocean off the northern coast of Alaska. The decision comes following a ruling by the EPA’s Environmental Appeals Board to withhold critical air permits. The move has angered some in Congress and triggered a flurry of legislation aimed at stripping the EPA of its oil drilling oversight.

Moronic. CO2 is not causing global warming, but the liberal energy policies sure are causing wide spread heart ache.

Left wing nosy bodies are even now attempting to pass laws against smoking in your own house and car.

And what about First Nag Michele’s war on fast food? Supposedly we are killing our children by allowing MacDonalds to exist. There is now a war going on against Happy Meal toys, vending machines and home made lunches. There is no limit to the danger we lousy parents expose our kids when we let them eat.

So where do these paragons of virtue get off requiring us to place cancer causing, deadly light products all through our houses?

Energy saving light bulbs ‘contain cancer causing chemicals’

Fears have been reignited about the safety of energy saving light bulbs after a group of scientists warned that they contain cancer causing chemicals.

Their report advises that the bulbs should not be left on for extended periods, particularly near someone’s head, as they emit poisonous materials when switched on.

So second hand smoke and french fries are evil, but cancer-causing, chemical-packed light bulbs which require an EPA SWAT team to clean up if they break are mandatory next to your child’s bed?

Incoherent madness. No wonder these people hate Main Street America – it makes them look so damn stupid.
