Carter/Clinton 2.0 – Welcome President Elect Obama

Published by at 11:46 pm under 2008 Elections,All General Discussions

VA is being called for Obama (and so soon will be Florida). Tomorrow I will look at the final number, but what I see tonight is a much tighter national race than many polls predicted, but more accurate state polls.

In any event, welcome President-elect Obama. Do well for America these coming four years – because you will be facing Sarah Palin in 2012 if I have anything to say about it. And if you want to make it easy for Governor Palin, please raise taxes, surrender Iraq and redistribute wealth. And you will be a one term wonder.

Until then, congratulations! And Congrats to all the wonderful Obama supporters I know – I have a lot of trust your instincts are right. I have been proven wrong many times, now it is time to see what Obama can do.

oh well, by the way AJ, the race was tighter then then many polls said, in that regards you did have a point. a 3-5 point Obama win is a lot different then a 10-13 point win.

    Robert,

yeah, it seems the state polls were closer to reality. More on this tomorrow, after the hang over!

  3. Redteam says:

It’ll be Pres Jindal in 2012

  4. Redteam says:

    but I like Palin………..

  5. IN 4 years there will be so much fraud we will never stand a chance at the ballot box.

This is assuming he has not surrendered away our nation already.

  6. robert c verdi says:

    red,
I would take either Palin or Jindal, but lets be frank, Palin has already held her own against a brutal onslaught and still walked away as the most popular vote getting female in history.
    aj,
not too much of the liquid, work on the midterms and 2012 starts tomorrow.

Well, we gave it our all. Let the dems celebrate tonight…

In reality, the next target should be 2010. Perhaps we can engineer another 1994-style takeover of the house. Of course, the more I look at some of the house races, the more I shake my head. For example, Murtha, of all people, was reelected by a comfortable margin! Why? Who knows. Wexler of Florida was also reelected despite his problems. And on and on. I think people just vote for someone because they’ve always voted for them…never mind what they say or do.

And I really do think the dems had a huge money advantage this year. Here in NH, I think they we much better organized and overall had better candidates. The Republicans didn’t even contest the governor here, nor my own Congressional representative, with any seriousness.

We need to rethink everything and be better organized next time. And start fundraising – now!

    See ya in 2010…

I just listen to Juan Williams. He must have had tears in his eyes. Putting politics aside, it says so much for the black children of this country, and he is right. I hope he governs well! That he leaves an honorable legacy.

To the Republicans, we need to be proud of our vision and stop all the garbage. Our President, George W. Bush has not deserved the lack of support that he has gotten. Watch how many of his policies around the war, Gitmo, FISA, his economic policies that have kept unemployment low, gave everybody, I mean everybody a tax cut and took more of the lowest earners off the tax rolls altogether. The support he has given Africa, some in South America, and on and on. Too many Republicans did not stand up and they should have. And we are where we are today because we were not proud of what we believe in. What a shame.

Come on, the middle class got a tax cut, I got one and it helped a lot. Why didn’t anybody say so. We won a war, we freed thousands of people, we voted for the war. Why not stand up for it? Any way it’s water over the bridge. Be proud of what you believe in and stand up for it then the Republicans can win again.

    kathie,
    good points

  10. Redteam says:

    kathie,,,,, right on….
now we get to blame the Dems. I expect Obama to demand Pres Bush surrender in Iraq tomorrow and have the troops back home by jan 20. Otherwise, the blood is on their hands…..

  11. archtop says:

    Kathie – well said.

I too am an admirer of President Bush. His unwavering support for the troops and their mission to free Iraq from a tyrant will be his legacy. But, politically, it cost him (and his party) enormously. Now, let’s hope President Obama will do the right thing for our military and the Iraqis.

And I suspect that if Obama and the dems attempt to radically increase our taxes or bankrupt our energy industry in the name of global warming, the retribution in 2010 will be sure and swift. Then again, given what the American people just did tonight, I could be wrong…

  12. Redteam says:

my life style won’t change much except…… where do I apply for my gas money and mortgage payment money?

  13. kathie says:

I don’t think he will bring our troops home tomorrow. He has left himself a lot of wiggle room on the subject. It is easy to complain about what the other person has done. But when the decision is yours, and the responsibility is yours, decisions have a way of being more informed. Does Obama really think Bush is leaving troops in Iraq to get them killed? Or to waist American’s money? Surely Obama must think about Iran, Syria, North Korea and what they would do if we turned tail and ran. He might also think of Israel, would we really abandon that little country. When the whole world is dependent on us, which he will find out soon, that it is true, you don’t turn tail and run. Europe can’t turn tail because they have no tail. He will find that out also. So practically everything he has promised is pie in the sky.

“I just listen to . . . . . . . Be proud of what you believe in and stand up for it then the Republicans can win again.”

    Amen to that Kathie.

I am not looking forward to 2009 and 2010. I may be forced to leave California–where I was born and raised, where my relatives are–because I will suddenly be “rich” in Obama’s eyes and unable to afford my taxes, the cost of electricity under his “cap and trade” plan, and other elements of the cost of living in this state.

Jeremiah Wright got his wish. God has truly damned America with this man as president and the dunces who voted for him as my countrymen.

  16. WWS says:

Today is the day the Second Great Depression became inevitable and unavoidable.

  17. Redteam says:

    Cobalt…. Amen..

But the ultra left libs are gonna be screaming, we elected you, don’t let us down. He laid it on the line, he is gonna spread the wealth and raise energy costs. You’re gonna be supporting the ‘won’t work’ crowd… Close your eyes and bend over.

  18. Cepik says:

Hey how did the senate play out? Did they (Dems) get the veto proof majority? I can’t turn my TV on, the lids are sleeping.

  19. crosspatch says:

It is probably going to be good for this country to get another dose of what liberalism does to the economy. Most of the voters in today’s election were probably not of voting age during the Carter administration. Time for them to learn that lesson over again.
