Anyone Ready For Some Global Warming?

Published by at 9:59 am under All General Discussions,Global Warming

Update: Drudge is highlighting the century level records falling. I found this one the most chilling:

Flint broke a 95-year-old record early Wednesday morning when the temperature plummeted to a frigid 19 below zero. The previous record? Minus 10, set in 1914, according to the National Weather Service.

More here (and just about everywhere around the globe I am sure). – end update

The data says it all:

Maine residents braced Thursday for readings down to 40 below zero. And in the Midwest, Iowans were warned that temperatures could drop as far as 27 below zero, matching a Jan. 15 record set in 1972.

In Michigan, the community of Pellston, in the northern Lower Peninsula, and Big Rapids, in the central Lower Peninsula, were Michigan’s cold spots at 6 a.m. Thursday, with temperatures of minus 21 degrees.

The air temperature was 29 degrees below zero in Glenwood, Minn., on Thursday morning, with the wind chill making it a staggering 54 degrees below zero. It was 20 degrees below zero at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, but the wind chill made it feel like 37 below zero.

In New York, where light snow fell overnight, temperatures early Thursday morning ranged from 7 above in Buffalo to 21 below in Massena in northern New York. Lows of 18 below to 26 below are forecast for the Adirondacks Thursday night and Friday.

Meanwhile, some stubborn true believers in Wisconsin plan on destroying their economy to avoid any potential warming:

In one of the most politically left-of-center cities east of Berkeley, Calif., ideas put forth at city hall in Madison, Wis. would dramatically limit free enterprise and personal liberty, all in the name of environmental sustainability.

Other more Draconian regulations throughout the document would:

  • Limit waterfront development in the name of water sustainability,
  • Require two trees to be planted if one is removed from your property
  • Limit the “number/density of fast food outlets and drive-through windows” in the name of public health
  • Discourage individual parking options to promote public transportation usage

Idiots. Darwin was right you know, adapt or fade away. Madison appears to be on the path to fading away.

It doesn’t help that Obama’s “climate czar” is on the board of directors for one of the major carbon credit trading outfits.

And her husband is a lobbyist on “energy issues”.

She is part of a network of people who need the whole global warming thing in order to get rich from carbon credit trading. And end of global warming would financially ruin a lot of people who have decided to make money from it.

Cross, under the heading “it’s an ill wind that blows no good”:

The outfit that was setting up carbon trading markets in the US and Europe was (drum roll please…) Lehman Brothers! All they needed was for that scam to get rolling, and they would have had yet another bubble to milk for all it’s worth.

Too bad, so sad, the cumulative effects of all their old scams finally caught up with them before they could launch another. Yes, Lehman had always contributed massive amounts of money to Democrat officeholders, but even that couldn’t save them. Hmm, I never saw that point in any of the major news outlets – I wonder why?

Senator Waxman, according to Drudge promising “fast action” on the climate. What *idiots*. The US isn’t the entire world. China has surpassed the US in CO2 emissions. With every passing day the amount of difference our politicians can make with regulations shrinks. But they have this narcissistic attitude that the US somehow *is* the world and if we reduce emissions it will somehow reduce CO2 in the US. Sorry, but we breathe Chinese, Indonesian, and Indian CO2, too.

    What absolute utter imbeciles.

  4. Neo says:

NOAA has most tof the country at about normal temperature, but Waxman wants his AGW pound of flesh anyway.

So exactly what replaces “Big Oil” .. “Big non-Oil” ?

Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.

Boy am I sick of hearing about co2 and greenhouse gas emissions. These are all part of the natural order of things. These wacko environmentist nuts use to complain about car exhaust now they are emboldened and going after animal exhaust–what in the hell will be next. I’m really pissed at these freaks. Not only are they crazy, they are dangerous. They want to tell us what to drive, what to eat, what to wear, what to set our thermostasts on, what to drink—they know whats best for everyone. Personally, I hope we do have another ice age—let those lefties in the big urban areas freeze, we out here in the countryside have wood for our fireplaces and they won’t be around to tell us we are contributing to air pollution. I’m serious—bring on the big freeze. In the mean time I will continue to do my part to lower the co2 level–I’ll try to eat more cows!!!!!

It was 10 below this morning when I left for work this morning and I live in southern Indiana. This is not the North Pole. Speaking of the North Pole I read that not only did the North Pole not melt this year like hysterics said it would, the ice is getting thicker again.

I hope it is really cold on when Obama gets to lay his hand on that bible. I mean frigid.

    Hi AJ:

Here are quotes from a few NASA scientist – head of the Goddard Institute of Space Studies – who says that Obama has 4 years to “save the planet” from “the devastating climate change that now threatens Earth”.

So… are you wrong, or is NASA hiring and promoting scientists that are spectacularly wrong about climate change?

  8. WWS says:

You’ve said it – NASA has politicized science to the point that it has become a farce.

Inauguration day Washingotn high will be 30 degrees – in 1974 it was 89 degrees. Is that the sign of global “warming”????

oh wait I know – every reading that agrees with you is “climate”, but every reading that doesn’t is “weather” and doesn’t count. How nice to have a completely self justifying system that automatically discounts every data point that conflicts with your politicial views.

And yes, I have more scientific experience and education than any 100 people you have ever met in your life put together.

  9. GuyFawkes says:

    btw- “few” = “fellow”.

Yeesh – I should know better than to type after an Eagles game.

  10. GuyFawkes says:

    WWS:

That’s an interesting claim. Care to post your resume online in order to prove it?

  11. WWS says:

Undergrad degree in Chemistry, minor in physics, postgrad degrees in engineering and law, 15 years field experience in engineering (field data collection & qc) before the current career. that’s as much personal info as you get without e-mailing me your ss # and a major credit card.

Check out Hathaway’s ever shifting solar cycle predictions over the last 3 years to see just how wrong nasa solar predictions have been. (Yes, there are some independant scientists, notably Archibald, who have gotten it right) And Hathaway simply changes his chart each update without mentioning that all of his previous predictions have been wrong. Basically he keeps fudging things to make it look like he was right even though he wasn’t. There are people who keep track of this, though. Hansen is the worst – he’s been proven to have used fake data in his outrageous climate predictions – but the predictions live on, even though the new, corrected data no longer support his conclusions.

Remember the claim from Nasa that 1998 was “the hottest year on record”?? All based on bad data, which when finally corrected (by engineers outside of Nasa) showed that the hottest year on record was 1934. Hmm, how come the most global warming actually happened 70 years ago and then we cooled down? How come Hansen’s office tried to quietly hide the fact that they’d been caught using bad data and that their process qc was nonexistent? In fact, the climate data collected over the last 5 years shows that we are headed into a 20 – 30 year cooling cycle, possibly a severe one. The deep freeze in the upper midwest is what winter is going to be like for a long time – and by the way, polar ice is *not* melting, it’s already back to 1979 levels. That’s data, not hype. And the oceans are not rising, they are falling slightly as glaciers are in reality starting to build back up, especially in the southern hemisphere. The world today is not warming, it is cooling. That’s what the actual science says.

Now there are a lot of good engineers and scientists at Nasa – but Hansen and Hathaway are two of the leaders of the climate change brigade inside Nasa, and they’re jokes. I’ll give Hathaway a little credit – he slowly changes his position as the data goes against him – Hansen simply uses an eraser and a pencil and tries to write in numbers that agree with his political views no matter what the actual data shows. Hansen is the greatest scientific fraud on the face of the planet today – his mug shot should be right next to Lysenko’s.

Al Gore, if you didn’t know, is Hansen’s most loyal disciple. And thus the cult was born, based on fraud and hype from the get go.

    Guy,

I work for NASA and know which ‘scientists’ are the charlatans. Don’t try to even pretend you can debate on this issue. Your 3rd grade math skills are painfully obvious.

Hansen is a cultist who fakes his data. His mother ship is arriving when the Earth melts. LOL! Plan on hitching a ride Einstein?

    AJStrata

  13. GuyFawkes says:

    AJ:

Interesting. You don’t know a thing about me, and I’ve never even attempted to debate this issue with you, because I have never seen any evidence that you’re willing to listen to an opinion on this subject that is different than your own. For the most part, I ignore these posts – I just stumbled across that Hansen article, and was curious about your opinion.

So he’s “a cultist who fakes his data”. I did a Google search and read his Wiki page, but couldn’t find anything – can you show me what he “faked”? (Did you mean the change to the average yearly temps? That seemed to be a pretty straight-forward case of correcting a bug in the programming.)

So tell me – are you in the habit of accusing people of having “3rd grade math skills” regularly, when you have no idea of their math skills whatsoever? Can you show me anything I’ve written that somehow convinced you that I could not possibly have a B.S. in Mathematics (with a Computational Emphasis)?

  14. Neo says:

Do we have time to do a similar thing with carbon emissions to save ourselves from climate change?

Not a hope in hell. Most of the “green” stuff is verging on a gigantic scam. Carbon trading, with its huge government subsidies, is just what finance and industry wanted. It’s not going to do a damn thing about climate change, but it’ll make a lot of money for a lot of people and postpone the moment of reckoning. I am not against renewable energy, but to spoil all the decent countryside in the UK with wind farms is driving me mad. It’s absolutely unnecessary, and it takes 2500 square kilometres to produce a gigawatt – that’s an awful lot of countryside.
