Obama’s Poll Collapse Continues

Published by at 1:43 pm under 2008 Elections,All General Discussions

Well, that was a short lived ‘bounce’ for Obama, he has now fallen back into a tie with McCain according to today’s Gallup Daily Tracking Poll (follow link for larger version):

At this rate Obama should be well behind by the Democrat Convention in August.

    Among registered voters, no less!

We must be very watchful of voter fraud in this election, like never before. The Left has proven too many times that they would sell their souls for power.

  2. TomAnon says:

I’m thinking someone deserves some credit for accurately predicting the Berlin Bounce was really a Dead Cat bounce. Who could that be???

  3. WWS says:

One little quibble with the prediction – “at this rate” is always a problematic statement. (and I know you know that)

More likely, given what we’ve seen, the numbers will tend to float around these levels for the rest of the race (meaning too close to call) unless something dynamic shakes these up. An exceptionally good or an exceptionally bad VP choice by either candidate could be such an event.

Both candidates keep trying to shoot themselves in the foot. McCain saying the other day that social security tax increases might be on the table was just a completely boneheaded move on his part – lucky for him that Obama is getting so much press, no one paid attention to JM’s comment.

If Obama’s ratings get too bad, there will be a push to nominate Hill……you watch. I’m thinking Obama is not a forgone conclusion, the Dems want to win, well sometimes they do!

From “Counterterrorism blog” Good news from the popular war!

CAIRO, Egypt – Al-Qaida has posted a statement on the Internet saying one of its commanders in Afghanistan has been killed by a U.S. airstrike.

Abu Abdullah al-Shami was one of four al-Qaida militants who brazenly escaped from U.S.-run Bagram prison in Afghanistan three years ago.

Thursday’s statement was dated July 14 and signed by the terror network’s top Afghanistan commander, Mustafa Abu al-Yazeed.

It says al-Shami was “martyred with a group of his companions.” It did not elaborate on where he was killed, or who was with him.

The message appeared on a Web site frequently used by al-Qaida

  6. WWS says:

Yeah, they could, Kathie – but think about it and you can see the horrible trap the Dem’s have placed themselves in. They’ve publicly promised the nom to Obama and been hinting all around that only racists won’t vote for him – that hasn’t gone unnoticed by black voters. If the dem’s drop Obama now, the black community will be absolutely sure that the racists have won and they will walk out of this election completely. Without black votes, a dem candidate can’t come close.

For better or for worse, the Dem’s are locked to Obama now, no matter what he says or does. He owns them, and they know it.

  7. Neo says:

I comment elsewhere the other day that the spectacle of Obama losing could be the basis of a campaign of “distractions”.

I seem to remember that this poll as a 3 day average or something, so that 1 point lead will probably be gone tomorrow.

Unfortunately, this campaign is the choosing of the better of two lessers, with most people I meet saying they want new candidates .. hence the larger than normal “undecided” vote.

I’d like to suggest a shorter campaign, but this has been going for over 15 months and it is only now is the vacuousness of Obama becoming apparent (due to the vacuous press).

    WWS:

Reagan raised Social Security taxes and conservatives think he is a God. The truth is if the Congress refuses to act on reform the time may come when taxes will have to be raised or the system collapse. That is the problem Reagan faced and the next president may have to do the same thing. I know Bush tried to reform the system, but could not garner enough support to get it done.

    McCain is just being honest.

Once it becomes “cool” for Democrats to be anti-Obama, the floor will fall out from under him. I suspect a great sea change would happen when/if Lieberman addresses the Republican convention.

The dems have a get out of jail card if they decide to nominate
Hillary. They just announce that they only just discovered that
Obama isn’t “Black”, he’s Arab and in respect for all the struggle
the civil rights movement had to endure, it just wouldn’t be right
for an impostor to claim unity with Blacks.
    Well, it might work.
Or they suddenly realize there are Constitutional problems with
Barack, you know, like dual citizenship.
That might work even better, the law is the law.
    An excuse can be found.

    .

Well why just not set him up and make him a citizen of your la-la-land?

Oops, what about the 14th Amendment:
“No State shall […] enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges [….] of citizens of the United States”

  12. dave m says:

Not a question of one of our states abridging the privileges of Obama.
Whatever privileges Obama has , he has. These are specified by the
Constitution. Whether he is in Kansas or California, these remain the
    same.

The question of whether he is eligible to run for President is also
spelled out by the phrase “natural born citizen” and the interpretation
of that phrase which may require a Supreme Court decision.

May I suggest, that people who have nothing to do with the USA,
quit trying to explain to us how our laws work. We might as well come
into your country and ban you from eating Yabbis.

If you are so in love with him, elect him to be PM of Aus.

    .

It sounds like you need outside help if you don’t know what “natural born citizen” means in law, and you want the Supreme Court to spell it out.

A natural born citizen is a “person” in law who is not a non-living legal entity – such as a corporation.

  14. dave m says:

    Well thanks for that,
I guess the framers were worried that a corporation might take over
    America. That’s help? Whatever,
but you’re help don’t mean doodly-squat* in America.
I think Skippy could come up with a better interpretation than that.

    Exactly

  16. dave m says:

Corporation Ummah-Bummah trying to take over America.
    Skippy nowhere in sight.
MSM have fallen down the coal mine.

*Breaking* Obama Hides Indonesian Identity: Fake Birth Certificate Explained

[edited for clarity at 7/31/08 7:35 PM ET]

**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TO THE MAIN STREAM**

Obama Lies About His Birth Records, Identity, and Religious Background

Barack Obama has misled and deceived the American public about his dual identity, dual citizenship, religious background, and birth records.

He was, and possibly still is, a citizen of Indonesia.

Contrary to Obama’s public statements that he’s “always been a Christian” Obama was at one time a Muslim.

His Hawaiian Birth Certificate reveals the legal name Barry Soetoro. His original Birth Certificate, with the name Barack H. Obama, was sealed.

That is why the Birth Certificate published on his campaign website “FightTheSmears” is fake. Barack Obama does not want you to know about his Soetoro identity.

Go the website to read the whole story. It is, of course, not right
to duplicate a bloggers work on another site, even if the blogger tags
her article “for immediate release”, I guess.

    dave m,

You’ve gotta get your flakey COLB/citizenship arguments into perspective. They don’t carry any weight while there are more people/nutters claiming that Obama is a commie, a martian, the antichrist or a terrorist.
    .

You won’t get anywhere until you jazz up the marketing of your mini-project and recruit a LOT more nutters than they’ve recruited. This would mean dumping Polarik, Techdude, Texasdarlin and that guy who writes those legal word-salads who questioned if he was crazy in the middle of it. Dump them and start again with a new crew.

Now that’s a rare treasure from the Wonder Down Under.

Ray, could you kindly explain how, under your definition, how a corporation could run for President of the US?

Looks like Ray got hold of some bad vegimite or some stale Tim Tams or something.

  20. Ray_in_Aus says:

Unless there is legislation to the contrary, any legal entity may do what a living person may do. (A “legal entity” is a “person” in law).
