Ugly Liberals: Only Care If Terrorists Are Tortured, Not If Americans Are

The “Ugly Liberal” is coming out in the Democrat Party. A close cousin to the Ugly American – who would go to Europe and other places and display such arrogance and snobbery that it gave all America a bad reputation – this is the election for the Ugly Liberal. It is their hate of Americans, conservatives, life, etc that drives them. They are a constant insult machine, tearing down others to prop up their insecurity. They run their little fantasies about how only they can save humanity from itself.

Today’s target for these insecure, small people is John McCain and his military record and his years in captivity. What is so pathetic about this brand of Ugly Liberal is their duplicity on the subject of torture. They rant and rave about impeaching Bush and others for “torturing” the likes of Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the mastermind of 9-11:

Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the alleged mastermind of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, was subjected to the CIA’s harshest interrogation methods while he was held in secret prisons around the world for more than three years, part of an interrogation regimen that the International Committee of the Red Cross has called “tantamount to torture,” according to a New Yorker article to be published on the magazine’s Web site today.

In reality, what we did to KLM is we induced the fear of drowning. We did not physically torture the man. There were no scars, bruises or cuts. We just used a cloth and ran water over it to trigger the body’s natural response to fight off drowning. We use the same process on our own soldiers to prepare them for real thugs who use real torture – like al-Qaeda, and the North Vietnamese. Let’s be clear here, the Ugly Liberals want to Impeach and Arrest Americans who simply invoked one of our body’s natural response mechanisms. They no more ‘tortured’ anyone than a doctor tapping the knee to check the leg’s reflexes is the same as knee-capping their patients.

Here is what John McCain did in the service of America, and why he deserves the title ‘hero’:

By then a lieutenant commander, McCain was almost killed on July 29, 1967 when he was at the epicenter of the Forrestal fire. He escaped from his burning jet and was trying to help another pilot escape when a bomb exploded;[28] McCain was struck in the legs and chest by fragments.[29] The ensuing fire killed 134 sailors and took 24 hours to control.[30][31] With the Forrestal out of commission, McCain volunteered for assignment with the USS Oriskany.[32]

John McCain’s capture and imprisonment began on October 26, 1967. He was flying his twenty-third bombing mission over North Vietnam, when his A-4E Skyhawk was shot down by a missile over Hanoi.[33][34] McCain fractured both arms and a leg, and then nearly drowned, when he parachuted into Trúc Bạch Lake in Hanoi.[33] After he regained consciousness, a crowd attacked him, crushed his shoulder with a rifle butt, and bayoneted him;[33] he was then transported to Hanoi’s main Hoa Lo Prison, nicknamed the “Hanoi Hilton”.[34]

Although McCain was badly wounded, his captors refused to treat his injuries, instead beating and interrogating him to get information.[36] Only when the North Vietnamese discovered that his father was a top admiral did they give him medical care[36] and announce his capture. His status as a prisoner of war (POW) made the front pages of The New York Times[37] and The Washington Post.[38]

McCain spent six weeks in the hospital while receiving marginal care.[33] Now having lost 50 pounds (23 kg), in a chest cast, and with his hair turned white,[33] McCain was sent to a different camp on the outskirts of Hanoi[39] in December 1967, into a cell with two other Americans who did not expect him to live a week.[40] In March 1968, McCain was put into solitary confinement, where he would remain for two years.[41]

I highlighted the things that go directly to the essence of the man, to the core of Maverick McCain. He earned the title ‘American Hero’ when he tried to save others on the burning deck of the Forrestal. He earned the title ‘American Hero’ again later for the injuries he sustained in his 32nd sortie (unlike the rumors from pathetic, insecure ugly liberals that McCain’s service is limited to losing one plane and then being shot down, as if he never did any more missions), then his beating by the crowd, followed by beatings by the North Vietnamese.

McCain carries with him real scars and life-long injuries from these encounters. But do the left give any respect or recognition to what he was willing to go through for this country he loves so much? Of course not – they feel insecure when compared to McCain, so they lash out at him:

But farther to the left—and among some of McCain’s conservative enemies as well—harsher attacks are circulating. Critics have accused McCain of war crimes for bombing targets in Hanoi in the 1960s. Sunday, a widely read liberal blog accused McCain of “disloyalty” during his captivity in Vietnam for his coerced participation in propaganda films and interviews after he’d been tortured.

“A lot of people don’t know… that McCain made a propaganda video for the enemy while he was in captivity,” wrote Americablog’s John Aravosis. “Putting that bit of disloyalty aside, what exactly is McCain’s military experience that prepares him for being commander in chief?”

Instead of a news report on the scum (which is good to see, actually), let’s go to the scum’s own words:

Yes, we all know that John McCain was captured and tortured in Vietnam (McCain won’t let you forget). A lot of people don’t know, however, that McCain made a propaganda video for the enemy while he was in captivity. Putting that bit of disloyalty aside, what exactly is McCain’s military experience that prepares him for being commander in chief? It’s not like McCain rose to the level of general or something.

Getting shot down, tortured, and then doing propaganda for the enemy is not command experience. Again, it’s not nice to say say, but we’re not running for class president here. We deserve real answers, not emotional outbursts designed to quell the questions.

Neither did Barack Obama rise to general. I think he made Eagle Scout or something. And let’s be clear here, the only one going through an emotional outburst is this jackass. Aravosis, clearly not a military person or someone who can grasp what it means to put your life on the line for your nation, simply doesn’t know what McCain went through. Or he won’t recognize it in a meaningful way. McCain went through hell for this country, and that alone would qualify him over many others – including Obama. If McCain would sacrifice that much for this country and its people then he has earned the title ‘American Hero’ and he is someone we would all be proud to see in office.

But let’s turn the tables here, and realize Aravosis is part of the Ugly Liberal crowd who have whined about ‘torture’ by the Bush administration for years now. What has Aravosis done in his life that qualifies him to question John McCain? What have any of McCain’s critics done for this nation that gives them the right to demean or belittle what he went through? Clearly, these ugly, small people are not in the same league as McCain, who nearly died to allow them the right to makes asses out of themselves through the right of free speech.

These Ugly Liberals will scream and protest for the likes of Khalid Sheik Mohammed, who was simply tricked into thinking he is drowning to make sure another 3,000 innocent lives were not snuffed out in a terrorist attack. They will also demean and minimize an American Hero who was injured to the point of near death, AND THEN really tortured. You really cannot get uglier than that.

Want an easy test for this fall’s election, here it is: Which man is the ugly liberal left standing behind, and which one are they attacking? Once you answer that the choice is easy, who do YOU stand behind?

  1. New Democrat Talking Point: So McCain Was Tortured, Big Deal!…

That’s the theme of the day for the left. So John McCain spent five years in the Hanoi Hilton being tortured. No big deal. What else did he do to qualify himself to be president?

Sunday saw that asshole Wesley Clark again trashing McCain on televi….

Great post AJ—added proof as to why McCain deserves to be POTUS. And again I ask “what has BHO ever done to deserve this honor?”. Nothing other than contribute to class warfare and pander to the masses—let him run for king of venezuela.

Using Obama’s standard, does this make Wes Clark large and/or brave ?

So just how does Obama’s military record stack up ? It’s quite possible that in his role as “community organizer” that he managed to organize the gang youth of his neighborhood. He even worked with “former” bomb makers.

  6. Depraved Audacity…

The people pushing attacks on Senator John McCain’s military record and experience engaging in are nothing less than depraved audacity. They demean not only McCain’s military record, but attack all those in uniform….

the logic here is astounding. “…we just used a cloth and ran water over it to trigger the body’s natural response to fight off drowning. we use the same process on our own soldiers to prepare them for real thugs who use real torture – like al-qaeda, and the north vietnamese…” so according to you it’s torture when they use it on us but not when we use the same technique on them. we must prepare our soldiers for the thugs who use water-boarding…but when we do it it is simply running water over a cloth. when the japanese do it we prosecute them for war crimes. when we do it it is water sports. pathetic and simple minded.

What’s also intresting is how the “chickenhawk” line of attack has all but vanished. Apparently it never was a big deal now that Obama is running for office.

  9. piniella says:

If military service were such a great qualification, then Randall “Duke” Cunningham should be President. He was an Ace in Vietnam, McCain wasn’t.

    norm:

The logic is astounding. John McCain was beaten and tortured for years. He will wear the scars of that for the rest of his life. He does not support torture of any kind in large part because of that.

The left {that would be you} totally discounts this man’s suffering and sacrifice while you drool and slobber all over some mass murderer because he was water boarded. That says a lot about you norm, and it ain’t good.

  13. Terrye says:

    piniella:

Oh yeah, right. I love this. When John Kerry was reporting for duty military service mattered. And McCain was a naval squadron leader. And no one is saying he should be president just because of that.It is a question of character. But then again if you do not have any chracter it is difficult to see it in others.

  14. Dc says:

    norm,

Of course we won’t mention the difference between AlQueda types like the 3 that were water boarded (total) and what the purpose of that was, and our soliders (your fellow citizen volunteers) and what the purpose of sawing them up was. No difference at all. (are we removing context again?)

  15. Dc says:

So, norm Nazi’s killed people…we killed people in wwii. That means we were no different than them and committed the same crimes as they did?

    It’s like 2nd grade norm.
