Obama: Americans Must Do As World Says

I know Obama is getting record crowds, estimated as high as 75,000 in Portland, OR.  But is curiosity the same thing as support?  Are these massive crowds going to vote en masse?

Obama Nets Huge Crowd

Obama is a draw, but is he selling liberalism like never before or are liberals simply coming out like never before? Given some of his more ludicrous statements one has to wonder how many Americans are ready for his hard core liberal stances:

Pitching his message to Oregon’s environmentally-conscious voters, Obama called on the United States to “lead by example” on global warming, and develop new technologies at home which could be exported to developing countries.

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,” Obama said.

“That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen,” he added.

SInce when is leadership kowtowing down to the world’s biases (usually generated by a malicious and liberal news media)?  America is not killing the planet.  As I noted in another post if you look at where the global warming IS, it is not over the American continents – it is over Asia where most of the human population lives.

What Obama is selling is not leadership.  He is selling out America to international opinion.
Are we to gain permission from China or India on what our allocation should be for using our SUVs? Are we suppose to get permission from the UN as to when and how long we can set our thermostats to 72°? This is ridiculous.
I want to note that over at Gallup, as Obama’s lead against Clinton rises, he is going nowhere against McCain (who also believes in the myths of Global Warming).
McCain is going to use the Bush approach, which entails basically saying if you must believe in this then we’ll let the market decide how much CO2 each person and company will reduce. If people need some feel-good efforts to pretend they are doing something then fine – it is free country. But Obama’s plan to let the UN and World Court and public opinion dictate to American’s what they can or cannot do is just not going to win votes.
This is Obama showing off is inexperience again.

    Norm and Soothie,
this is a quote from your boy:

“It is wonderful to be back in Oregon,” Obama said. “Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii,”

I can’t figure out if he thinks there is 57 or 58 or 59 states. one left to go, Alaska and Hawaii. sounds as if he thinks there is a state named ‘Alaska and Hawaii’
I question his grammar school education. I think I learned about the states by the 3rd grade.

For those wondering about the size of the crowd, they attended a concert with free food and drinks. Obama just happened to find the crowd and get in front of it.

  2. Terrye says:

I have found that if you just fly past norm and soothie it saves time and aggravation.

Does Obama want out of Iraq? Who knows, he says he does, but then he says he wants a strike force and then he says we can go back in blah blah blah.

The man says anything he wants and his cult following just drools and chants.

How exactly is Obama going to cut down gas prices? And if he has some idea, what is it and why hasn’t he offered up some legislation that might show us what he can do. He has been in the Senate for three years and has spent two of that running for president. He has nothing to show for that time.

The Saudis agreed to an increase in production, but prices still climbed today. And if we just run away from Iraq and that country collapses prices will only go higher.

I know that Obama will try to ride the anti war sentiment to the White House, but I for one am glad that Saddam does not have access to %125 a barrel oil.

Not only does Obama not know how many states there are in the United States, he does not know where they are. He passed his looming loss in Kentucky off to the fact that Arkansas is closer to Kentucky. One of those “states in the middle” he calls it.

Maybe the Chosen One should look at a map, Kentucky shares a state with Illinois. Supposedly he is the Junior Senator from Illinois.Does he not know where he is from?

  5. Terrye says:

Well one thing is for sure norm, Saddam was not a democratic leader and yet the left is still mourning his loss. But that is ok, different party, different rules, different standards. etc.

Besides, considering the fact that Obama is ready to kiss ass for the mullahs, what does he care about democracy?

  6. ivehadit says:

Barack Obama’s views of how this country should be run are diametrically opposed to mine…couldn’t be further from mine. And his views are diametrically opposed to what this country has stood for since its inception: FREEDOM. Freedom from religious persecution, especially the religion of the Left.

And for soothie, check out these expenditures:
“You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much? Read this:

As for the crowds, it is the celebrity appeal. Like a rock star. But that does not mean he will win the White House.

  8. kathie says:

Norm It is not my opinion that the dems want to get out of Iraq because they want to spend the money for domestic programs, it is a fact that I heard with my own ears. Right after Pelosi, Obama and others tell us what a great job our soldiers have done and how they support them, the next breath is how much money we are spending and we could have socialized medicine, college for everyone, help americans keep their homes and on and on. All you need to do NORM is listen. the dems are hoping we are a selfish, shortsighted people.

Weather you voted to go to war, as 87 senators did twice, the point is that we committed this country and it’s resources to the Iraqi people, the good, bad and ugly. In my world when you make a commitment you see it through to the end. Not only are the Iraqi’s counting on our honor, many other nations are watching to see if we can be trusted, if we are the weak horse, or if we are a nation of strength and determination, a nation of compassionate but bold people, a nation of honorable people.

Norm do you think that the list of democratic give aways can happen if we stay in Iraq, if we keep a robust military. The nations with such give aways have had to finance them by reducing their military. No military, no more wars. NORM listen to the democrat candidates. Their stump speech is a laundry list of what I can do for you. NORM it is a list financed by those who have money, the military, individuals and small businesses. Since when is it the governments responsibility to fund everybody’s perceived grievances with the money of a few. It is one thing to help the helpless it is another to promise everyone a college education.

Listen carefully NORM they say it in plane English, it’s a little nuanced because the concept is a little repugnant to many. But I’m sure you can you can interpret what is being said.

  9. norm says:

terrye…show me where one democratic leader is mourning saddams loss? just one. the different rule you refer to are different rules for factual basis…so called conservatives have none. if you have to lie to make your point, it isn’t much of a point is it?

  10. Soothsayer says:

Uh . . . Crosspatch . . . ask the 700,000 DEAD Iraqis if the money was well spent.

  11. crosspatch says:

norm, The Democrats were completely on board … right up until the bullets started to fly. It was hilarious when two weeks into the war, journalists used the word “quagmire” for the first time. It was like the Peanuts cartoon where congress holds the football and once Bush is committed, they pull the ball away and he falls down.

Actually, true democracy is the cruelest form of government. It is pure mob rule. In total majority rule, nobody looks out for the minority. That is why we are a republic, not a democracy. Having the people vote on referendums for things defeats the purpose of a republic where the RIGHT thing to do may not be the POPULAR thing to do.

  12. Terrye says:

    norm:

Well unless you expected Saddam to hang himself he would still be in power if you had your way. I have heard all sorts of little anti war people talk about how much better off the Iraqis would be if Saddam were sill in power.

But then again there would have been a coup right? and it would have gone like clockwork and been flawless?

or Saddam would have seen the error of his ways, stopped hiding illicit weapons programs, shooting at our planes and killing his people. A sort of spiritual transformation.

    you people are like children.

  13. Terrye says:

and norm needs to read the Iraqi Liberation Act. He needs to read Zinni’s remarks to the Senate in Feb 2000, before Bush even became president. He needs to read the Senate Resolution that was passed giving the President authority to go into Iraq, that was Democratic Senate.

He needs to read UN Resolution 1441, calling on Saddam to comply with the United Nations. It took years to get to that point, and the Democrats were on board all the way.

Until was politically advantageous to bail. Too bad for those Iraqis who actually took us at our word.

  14. lurker9876 says:

The cost of the Iraqi war is only 4 percent of the national GDP. It’s the smallest percentage ever.

If 700,000 were killed, they were killed by the insurgents. Add over 1 million killed by Saddam. The Lancet Report is wrong.

  15. Terrye says:

700,000 were not killed. This silly number has been debunked time and again by all sorts of experts on both sides of the debate. There is no truth to it.

That is what I mean, the left is so dependent on bogus claims and propaganda that they are in no position to be questioning anyone else’s integrity.

Just think about how ludicrous that claim is. Where are these people? Who were they? There are no bodies, no evidence, no nothing. Just some bs that people like norm are silly enough to believe.

That is more than 100,000 a year. That is how many day? Think about it. It is stupid.

  16. Terrye says:

    Soothie:

Are you really stupid enough to believe that lie? Honestly? You call the Bush administration liars and yet you come with a claim like that without an iota of evidence. This comes after years of claims by some people that 100,000 a year died because of the sanctions.

And here is Obama saying that Iran is stronger because of the war in Iraq. Oh yeah, if the US and the UN had just let Saddam get away with violating cease fires and kicking out UN inspectors and slaughtering his own people, I am sure that the mullahs would have been chastened.

    children, you are like children.

  17. crosspatch says:

    Wow … just wow!

Iraq could have largest oil reserves in the world

  18. ivehadit says:

I am so outraged at Barack Obama and all his buddies in the global socialist movement telling us what we have to do according to the “World Court, Euro’s, UN, a consensus…blah, blah, blah.

That alone is enough to rally the heartland troops and vote this clown down in November. WE ARE NOT A SOCIALIST COUNTRY and we will NEVER BE ONE.

Wake up America! Global socialists WANT this country to lose its soverignty. Want it to be brought “down to size”…so other countries may feel better about themselves, even though they are thugs and dictators who won’t even give FREE food to their injured and starving…

1865 was just a warm-up. We will NOT ALLOW Barack Obama et al to take over this country and turn it back into Europe. EVER. So bring it on. We are ready. Ya listening, soros?

  19. Frogg says:

I think John Kerry drew a crowd of 65,000 or so in Portland Or in 2004 didn’t he? He drew a crowd of 80,000 in Wisconsin (but, he had Bruce Springsfield perform….so that doesn’t count).

Portland Or is the next San Francisco. But, I’ll give Obama credit for being able to draw a huge crowd. Of course the Marxist anti-war protester usually draw an average of 75,000 protesters……so, I don’t really read too much into it.

About Obama and his demands for the rest of us?

    Yeah, right…….

Obama traded gas guzzler for hybrid in 2007

Now in Obama’s case, keep in mind that thermostat he allegedly keeps at 72 degrees is in a “stately” $1.65 million dollar home. Quite a house for four people, looks like each has their own garbage container in this pic. Funny, I don’t see a recycling bin. lol

And he dumped his Chrysler 300C for a Hybrid … in 2007.

I heard some analyst say today that even though our economy and population had grown in leaps and bounds…..our energy consumption has remained faily steady. So, it seems we have conserved, and used technology to our advantage. So it seems to me that we have done a good job. I couldn’t find a quick reference to those stats (I’m sure some blogger will). But, I did find this chart of US energy consumption. Not much difference between 1980 and the last year on the graph (2003). You can view graphs here:

    US Energy Consumption

I think Obama is about “doom and gloom” and “bad, bad America”.

  20. crosspatch says:

Per unit of economic output (per dollar of GDP) we are the most energy efficient there is, I think.
