New Pakistani Government Getting Too Cozy With Terrorists Possibly Hiding AQ

Published by at 9:39 am under All General Discussions,Pakistan

This is the year we could decimate the Islamo Fascists who have retreated from the failed efforts in Iraq, Lebanon and Afghanistan to the one place where they can find sanctuary – the lawless tribal regions of Pakistan broken into the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (where most of the terrorist activities seem to be centered) and the North West Frontier Province (where terrorists attempted to take over the Swat Valley region last year and were rebuffed by Pak forces).

The problem is the new and apparently fickly Pak government which is trying to negotiate with thugs, and learning that thugs don’t negotiate – they make demands and will use force the get those demands met. One regional paper notes the bind the new government finds itself in:

After just a few weeks, the newly installed government in Islamabad has been placed in the unenviable position of having to choose between giving in to the demands of militants or waging all-out war on them. Either way, it’s a losing proposition.

At the same time, the government’s attempts to alienate hardcore al-Qaeda and other militants from tribesmen in Pakistan’s tribal areas are in tatters. At risk too is a whopping US$7 billion in aid from the United States for Pakistan’s continued commitment to the “war on terror”.

At the weekend, al-Qaeda-linked militants released a video of Pakistan’s ambassador to Afghanistan, Tariq Azizuddin, who was captured in Khyber Agency on February 11.

Tariq was on his way to Kabul when he was abducted by tribal criminals for ransom. But after they realized they had kidnapped a very high profile person they knew they were out of their depth and handed him over to Baitullah Mehsud, a leader of the Pakistani Taliban with ties to al-Qaeda.

The government was aware of the capture, but it kept the matter quiet as it had begun back-channel negotiations with Baitullah for Tariq’s release. The price was the release of high-profile militants in government custody, including Mullah Obaidullah (former Taliban defense minister in Afghanistan) and Maulana Abdul Aziz, the former chief prayer leader of the radical Lal Masjid (Red Mosque) in Islamabad that was stormed by security forces last year.

Some of those on the list to be freed are the people arrested in the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. How Bhutto’s party and widow could acquiesce to such a demand is beyond me – unless there were more nefarious connections than once thought between Bhutto’s party and her assassins.

The fact is the new government is doing what liberals and Surrendercrats back here in the US want us to do (and Jimmuh Carter is trying to do), which is reason with unreasonable and violent Islamo Fascists. This is just one instance of the Pak government sitting down with terrorists and being out maneuvered (or deliberately being pliant). More from the article linked above:

By going public, Mehsud, based in the South Waziristan tribal area, has in a calculated manner slammed the door shut on back-channel negotiations, and placed the government on the spot.

The release of the video comes ahead of a visit by British Foreign Secretary David Miliband to Pakistan’s North-West Frontier Province to discuss the process of dialogue with local tribes to isolate them from al-Qaeda and the Taliban.

In this regard, the Pashtun sub-nationalist Awami National Party has promised local tribes implementation of the Islamic way of living in the tribal areas and in the Swat Valley, but in return the tribals must expel foreign elements. Negotiations were in their final stages for an agreement to expel Afghan Taliban commanders and Pakistani Punjabi jihadis from Khyber and Bajaur agencies.

The release of the video of the captured Tariq has all the hallmarks of al-Qaeda’s strategic planners, indicating that they have taken over the Taliban-led tribal guerrilla war, particularly as it affects Pakistan.

So what are the tribes saying? Not what anyone in the west wants to hear. Check out the statement from militants in Bajaur Agency from a jirga attended by newly elected government officials:

Militants of Bajaur Agency on Friday offered general amnesty to all their opponents, except alleged US spies and those involved in adultery, and announced the formation of various committees for settling people’s conflicts.

In addition, militant commander Maulana Faqir Mohammad and his fellow fighters said they wished to offer shelter to Osama bin Laden and Mulla Mohammad Omar, should they ask for it.

All the Jirga members backed the militants’ proposal and assured them to support their struggle for enforcing the Islamic laws in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata). Maulana Faqir Mohammad in his speech offered general amnesty to all their opponents and said they were now free in their movements in the tribal region. However, he explained there would be no change in their policy for alleged US spies and those engaged in adultery and un-Islamic activities.

It may be mentioned here that in various tribal regions including Bajaur Agency, dozens of people were beheaded or gunned down on charges of spying on militants for the US. Osama bin Laden and Mulla Omar, he claimed were the true heroes of the Muslim world, adding he and his followers would lay down their lives for them.

The militant commander said they would not tolerate President Pervez Musharraf in any form in the country as “he detained their guests (Arab fighters) and sold them like animals to America”.

Paying tributes to the world’s most-wanted man, Faqir Mohammad remarked: “Sheikh Osama has become an ideology now and America’s $50 million bounty for his head is not even worthy for his turban.”

He told the Jirga members that since all the infidels had united to capture the resources of the Muslim world, therefore, it was imperative for the Muslims to get united and support the “Mujahideen” in their war against the US-led foreign occupation forces in Afghanistan.

Sorry, but Pakistan suing for peace with these animals so they can attack us in Afghanistan or anywhere else in the world is not going to fly. That is how we ended up with 9-11 in the first place, we let this kind of ‘look the other way’ arrangement give AQ the base of operations to launch 9-11 and numerous other deadly attacks.

Given how crude these fascists are, and how the see themselves as geniuses, I would wager the comment about hosting Bin Laden is a crude attempt at disinformation. It is something illiterate tribes may fall for, but it seems to me we may have found where Bin Laden and Omar are hiding: Bajaur Agency. The open invitation followed by the messianic praise tells me these folks are close to their heroes – very close.

And note the comment about what was the key problem with Musharraf for these militants:

The militant commander said they would not tolerate President Pervez Musharraf in any form in the country as “he detained their guests (Arab fighters) and sold them like animals to America”.

The buffoon basically admits his group had Arab guests that were the target of Musharraf’s war on terror. The Pak government is also releasing known terrorists from custody in a bid to bribe the militants into behaving, basically doing there best imitation of the Nazi appeaser Neville Chamberlain:

Pakistani government in the country’s northwest is set to free a top militant leader shortly after over six years in detention in a reconciliation process with the militants, a government spokesman said Monday.

Maulana Sufi Muhammad is the founder of ‘Tehreek-e- Nafaz-e- Shariat-e-Mohammadi’ (TSNM), a Pakistani organization which aims to strictly enforce Shariat in the country, was arrested in late 2001 after he was returning from Afghanistan.

Sufi Muhammad had crossed into Afghanistan along with hundreds of his supporters to help Taliban in fight against the Americans and foreign forces.

The TSNM, who had been operating in the North-West Frontier province, was banned by President Pervez Musharraf.

If this is not some rope-a-dope ploy to bring the terrorists out in the open and lower their guard prior to a major action we have a big problem in Pakistan. We could have a clear example of why the liberal anti-war crowd is always so wrong when it comes to dealing with pure evil which thrives on weakness in others. People who will commit mass murder to gain power actually enjoy toying with their victims, getting them to feel like they victims are in control and equals before the butchers execute the final example of their power. Hitler was no different when he played with Chamberlain as he plotted the destruction of Europe and Britain.

If these reports accurately reflect the new government’s foolish appeasement policy then we will have to change our position as well. If Pakistan is not going to go after the terrorists in its borders than we will have to halt all our financial aid and take care of the situation ourselves. We might just have to exercise the Obama option on Pakistan.

    told ya!
As soon as PML-N were the deal makers, Pakistan
    became a terrorist country.
The only man standing between Pakistan’s nukes and
a vaporized New York City could sooon be Barack Obama.
    Think about it.

    Dave M,

I agree this was always a big risk – but let’s see how it plays out.

  3. 75 says:

AJ, explain to me why this was a big risk? Isn’t it always a positive aspect of fghting insurgent or guerrilla warfare to force your enemies and questionable allies to a decision? Pakistan is clearly a fence sitter, or trying to be, even somewhat when Musharraf was in charge. I would think that anything thaqt forces moderate Islam to reject or accept it’s radical elements clears the battlefield of doubt.

“thugs don’t negotiate – they make demands and will use force the get the demands met”

I agree, the Bush regime are thuggish war criminals who did exactly that re Iraq. But don’t let me be the arbiter. The last surviving judge at Nuremberg is among the many notables who’ve said the same.

  5. truthhard2take says:

On point, Strata is nothing if not nimble. These are pretty much the
actions he assured the newly elected Paki government would not dare do in his first posts after the democratic process he lauds so profusely, except when it doesn’t go its way after which he, as above, threatens to punish the winner.

Oh, and AJ-where are the masses of angry Pakis in the streets you claimed would prevent the new government from “caving” to “terrorist” demands by the newly elected Pakis merely acknowledging the public opinion you assured precluded such kowtowing?

Oh I see. A few thousand have kidnapped a few million.

Kidnapping? I must have missed that claim.

WHAT ISLAM ISN’T Dr. Peter Hammond

Islam is not a religion nor is it a cult. It is a complete system.

Islam has religious, legal, political, economic and military components. The religious component is a beard for all the other components.

Islamization occurs when there are sufficient Muslims in a country to agitate for their so-called ‘religious rights.’

When politically correct and culturally diverse societies agree to ‘the reasonable’ Muslim demands for their ‘religious rights,’ they also get the other components under the table. Here’s how it works (percentages source CIA: The World Fact Book (2007)).

As long as the Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone. In fact, they may be featured in articles and films, stereotyped for their colorful uniqueness:

    United States — Muslim 1.0%
    Australia — Muslim 1.5%
    Canada — Muslim 1.9%
    China — Muslim 1%-2%
    Italy — Muslim 1.5%
    Norway — Muslim 1.8%

At 2% and 3% they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs:

    Denmark — Muslim 2%
    Germany — Muslim 3.7%
    United Kingdom — Muslim 2.7%
    Spain — Muslim 4%
    Thailand — Muslim 4.6%

From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population.

They will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves — along with threats for failure to comply. ( United States ).

    France — Muslim 8%
    Philippines — Muslim 5%
    Sweden — Muslim 5%
    Switzerland — Muslim 4.3%
    The Netherlands — Muslim 5.5%
    Trinidad &Tobago — Muslim 5.8%

At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islam is not to convert the world but to establish Sharia law over the entire world.

When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions ( Paris –car-burnings). Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats ( Amsterdam – Mohammed cartoons).

    Guyana — Muslim 10%
    India — Muslim 13.4%
    Israel — Muslim 16%
    Kenya — Muslim 10%
    Russia — Muslim 10-15%

After reaching 20% expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burning:
    Ethiopia — Muslim 32.8%

At 40% you will find widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks and ongoing militia warfare:

    Bosnia — Muslim 40%
    Chad — Muslim 53.1%
    Lebanon — Muslim 59.7%

From 60% you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels:

    Albania — Muslim 70%
    Malaysia — Muslim 60.4%
    Qatar — Muslim 77.5%
    Sudan — Muslim 70%

After 80% expect State run ethnic cleansing and genocide:

    Bangladesh — Muslim 83%
    Egypt — Muslim 90%
    Gaza — Muslim 98.7%
    Indonesia — Muslim 86.1%
    Iran — Muslim 98%
    Iraq — Muslim 97%
    Jordan — Muslim 92%
    Morocco — Muslim 98.7%
    Pakistan — Muslim 97%
    Palestine — Muslim 99%
    Syria — Muslim 90%
    Tajikistan — Muslim 90%
    Turkey — Muslim 99.8%
United Arab Emirates — Muslim 96%

100% will usher in the peace of ‘Dar-es-Salaam’ — the Islamic House of Peace — there’s supposed to be peace because everybody is a Muslim:

    Afghanistan — Muslim 100%
    Saudi Arabia — Muslim 100%
    Somalia — Muslim 100%
    Yemen — Muslim 99.9%

Of course, that’s not the case. To satisfy their blood lust, Muslims then start killing each other for a variety of reasons.

‘Before I was nine I had learned the basic canon of Arab life. It was me against my brother; me and my brother against our father; my family against my cousins and the clan; the clan against the tribe; and the tribe against the world and all of us against the infidel. – Leon Uris, ‘The Haj’

  12. Rick C says:

Great work, Truth. the last surviving judge from Nuremberg is what, 90+? Any like any great judge, he is going to rule without the presentation of any evidence. Right.

Additionally, the US negotiated, not only with Iraq, but also via the UN. You might remember UN resolution 1441. But, then again, maybe you don’t.

Your comment has to have set a new record, even for you, as the lamest comment ever. That is just great for your credibility (what little there is).

  13. 75 says:

Ironic, no? That the last surviving Nuremburg judge would presumabley equate American attempts to free Jews from Islamic tyranny as that which the nazis perpetrated against Jews. Something tells me Truthy wasn’t quite honest on this premise either. Now what would make me think that? Hmmm……

  14. preachingpatriot says:

Something tells me you don’t respect the Iraqi people, who do not define their occupation and oppression as liberating. Something tells me also you are ignorant as to the harsher rules applied to now veiled women in most parts of Iran, women who had more freedom under Saddam, as the Arab Woman Blues blogger, one of many, inform us.
