Clinton Survives To Fight Another Day

Published by at 10:48 pm under 2008 Elections,All General Discussions

Well, it seems the Democratic establishment marshaled its forces and dashed the hopes of its new base for “change”. Hillary’s win in NH was a squeaker (here and here) – but what it actually does is breathe new life into the GOP. The Obaman juggernaut was going to be tough to take on. The “change” fever sweeping the nation is not going to want to see Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton. My guess is the Democrat base is going to go ballistic on this. And just wait – Nevada is up next and Senator Reid is doing all he can (through his son has Clinton campaign manager) to exercise the parter apparatus controls to squash Obama’s rebellion. I, as an impure conservative, prefer the GOP battle Clinton. Or at least I would like to see Obama take some hits before he wins the nomination. So win for Hillary is a win for the GOP.

I just can’t see what’s under Obama’s suit. I would love to love the guy and would be so happy to see him do well, however I would not for him, but I just don’t see it.

If Obama loses enough close ones I believe the independents would swing to a Rudy. I don’t believe they would swing to a Romney.

The best possible outcome in my opinion is Hillary Clinton winning the Democratic nomination by the slimmest of margins and a mass of angry Obama supporting independents swinging to Rudy in the general election. I believe if the election is Obama vs. Romney, those independents will just stay home.

And what if HRC picks Obama as running mate?

HRC almost certainly will pick Obama as a running mate – but he just won’t carry the same cachet as a second fiddle. My guess is that most of his younger supporters will simply lose their enthusiasm and drop out entirely.

At first blush it might sound like a sure winning ticket, but two far-left “minorities” (I believe women outnumber men voters) may be reaching too far … we’ll see.
I do think Obama has a huge uphill battle to win now. Best bet is probably another HRC gaffe or maybe blowback against The Machine for some heavy-handed, ruthless attacks.

HRC will chose Evan Byah of IN -IMHO she needs a moderate

I think Rush is right – you have to wonder how much corruption was involved in this result. Either the pollsters were incredibly wrong here or there was some massive money passed around and dead people voting. Since I come from MA originally I know how the Kennedy’s win so anything is possible. If the pollsters were that wrong in the last few hours, just how good are those poll numbers that the media uses to drive all their stories….

Possibly a 3rd option. If the Hillary-Obama outcome had happened on the Republican side there would have been cries of “racism” against all Republicans. Obama was polling several points ahead, then lost. Is it possible that lots of Democrats like to tell people they’re for the black guy, but just can’t bring themselves to vote for him when the time comes and they’re allowed to express their opinion in private?

I have no doubt how this would play if Hillary or both were Republicans.
