Oh Joy, Another Year Of Chicken Littles From The Left
I was all optimistic about 2008 until John Tierney reminded me we have another year of “The Sky Is Falling” to look forward from the Man-made Global Warming fanatics:
You’re in for very bad weather. In 2008, your television will bring you image after frightening image of natural havoc linked to global warming. You will be told that such bizarre weather must be a sign of dangerous climate change — and that these images are a mere preview of what’s in store unless we act quickly to cool the planet.
Unfortunately, I can’t be more specific. I don’t know if disaster will come by flood or drought, hurricane or blizzard, fire or ice. Nor do I have any idea how much the planet will warm this year or what that means for your local forecast. Long-term climate models cannot explain short-term weather.

A year ago, British meteorologists made headlines predicting that the buildup of greenhouse gases would help make 2007 the hottest year on record. At year’s end, even though the British scientists reported the global temperature average was not a new record — it was actually lower than any year since 2001 — the BBC confidently proclaimed, “2007 Data Confirms Warming Trend.â€
When the Arctic sea ice last year hit the lowest level ever recorded by satellites, it was big news and heralded as a sign that the whole planet was warming. When the Antarctic sea ice last year reached the highest level ever recorded by satellites, it was pretty much ignored.
The cherry picking of news to increase the panic effect is not working. With record snow levels and the fact the Arctic Ice Cap is about back to its normal levels (sorry, can’t find the link now) the long awaited Global Warming disaster looks to be a no-show. But that won’t stop the Chicken Littles from running around with their heads cut off (figuratively speaking of course).
Europe via the EU has been buying in to this almost as a please give me something else to concentrate on since I don’t want to think about our Radical Muslim issues.
With all the aggressive new regulations coming online, if the combined effort does little or nothing their will be major questions coming down the line but what they have already done will probably be set in stone.
Bali was a push by the leading edgers to try to get agreements while their hand was still hot and was almost desperate in it’s methods.
They didn’t get much of anything that they really wanted and it will be harder and harder to keep their coalitions together.
As the regulations phase in and all the unintended side effects start blooming opinion will start to turn unless someone somehow comes up with a major new study putting a lot better data support forward and that doesn’t seem to be even a gleam in anyones eye much less in the cards.
I am looking for the bigger effect later in the year as China falters because they can’t keep their resource supply chain growing fast enough to support their recent growth rates.
Take for example the Lefty at the Iowa debates.She asks the repubs to show their hands if they believe in global warming and that it’s caused by human activity.Well, you can believe the planet warms and cools naturally but it doesn’t have to be human induced.To put the two questions together and ask for a show of hands is BOGUS.
