Mad Murtha Undermines Far Left War Stance

Update – IBD Notices Murtha’s Duplicitous Madness

Mad Jack Murtha – who once said we could monitor al-Qaeda’s activities in Iraq by stationing our forces in Okinawa, Japan (talk about someone who served in the military and learned absolutely nothing about how to manage a war effort) – has done the unthinkable in far left circles. He has admitted that The Surge is working (which everyone now knows) and the Iraqis must take on more of their security (which they are doing):

“I think the ‘surge’ is working,” Mr. Murtha, a Democrat, said in a video conference from his Johnstown office, describing the president’s decision to commit nearly 30,000 additional troops at the beginning of the year. “But the thing that has to happen is the Iraqis have to do this themselves. We can’t win it for them.”

Talk about your “Duh!” moments! Want to see the Iraqis stepping up to the plate? Just review some of my posts from the last few months on news stories which show just that. For a sample go here, here, here, here and here. The truth is the far left is either in deep denial or so blinded by their inferiority complex with Bush they are grasping the reality of Iraq months after the situation has changed. This is creating a correct and disturbing picture of the Dems as totally incapable of dealing with foreign policy issues, the same issues they supported as members of Congress in authorizing the war in Iraq.

And it is not going unnoticed of course. Here is the Politico on how Murtha’s comments have destroyed the Surrendercrats contention there is no hope in Iraq:

Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.), one of the leading anti-war voices in the House Democratic Caucus, is back from a trip to Iraq and he now says the “surge is working.” This could be a huge problem for Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and other Democratic leaders, who are blocking approval of the full $200 billion being sought by President Bush for combat operations in Iraq in 2008. Murtha’s comments are a stark reversal from what he said earlier in the year.

Murtha has previously stated that the surge “is not working” and the United States faced a military disaster in Iraq.

Murtha told CNN on July 12, following a Bush speech, that the president’s views on the success of the Iraq were “delusional.”

“Well it’s delusional to say the least,” Murtha told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. “As I said earlier, and you heard me say it, it’s a failed policy wrapped in illusion. Nothing’s gotten better. Incidents have increased. We have had more Americans killed in the last four months than any other period during the war.”

Now the term “delusional” is going to stick to the Democrats for being so defeatist on Iraq when we now know things were clearly turning around. Murtha did not stop there in pulling the rug out from under the anti-success movement in America. He opened the door to capitulation on the war funding (now that we are succeeding pulling funds would look to be the crass, political, defeatist act it really is!):

Democratic Representative John Murtha said he is “optimistic” that House Democrats and President George W. Bush can agree on Iraq war funding after an earlier $50 billion proposal linked to troop withdrawals was blocked in the Senate.

“Congress wants to come up with an agreement,” Murtha, chairman of a House subcommittee on military spending, told reporters in a video conference from his office in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. “Leadership may be willing to compromise” on the time line for withdrawing troops from Iraq, he said.

The fact is the Democrats screwed up (again) when the gave our troops a Merry “Scrooge You” by going on vacation to be with their families in cozy homes while stuffing their faces and leaving our troops high and dry just so they could play to their extreme anti-war base. This was their version of giving thanks to our troops for all their sacrifices and efforts in turning Iraq around and creating this excellent opportunity for success. Never in our history have so many sacrificed so much so a few loud malcontents could give them the finger instead of appreciation and support.

And are those malcontents worried about our troops and in making sure they get credit and support for the turn around in Iraq? Hell no! They keep whining that no one listens to their delusional dreams of American failure in Iraq:

But this year is over in four more weeks. And soon enough, the Democratic bluff will be called. In response, they will posture, bluster and then – you can bet on it– they will fold. For a harbinger of this dreary scenario, you need look no further than the briefing held Thursday by the powerful Democratic chief of the House subcommittee on military spending, Pennsylvania Rep. Jack Murtha. “Congress wants to come up with an agreement,” he said. “Leadership may be willing to compromise” on the time line for troop withdrawal from Iraq.

May be willing to compromise? Really? Insert your laugh track right here, please.

Compromising and capitulating are the only things the Democrats have been doing on this issue.

People whose only vision of America is to capitulate to Bin Laden’s thugs in Iraq surely cannot be surprised that surrender is going to be the prime strategy on any issue. People who ‘fold like a lawn chair’ when threatened by terrorists are going to fold on most things. How can people who promote failure through capitulation be shocked that the only trick the Dems know right now is failure through capitulation. Soon we will see another straight month of progress in Iraq. Each month of progress in Iraq is a loss for the far left. They bet their future on al-Qaeda succeeding in Iraq and lost the bet. They need to get over the fact they blew it and the rest of us are anything but impressed by their failure to fail.

    Hi AJ,
This is just a question for you. You know more about how the
    pentagon can operate.
If the dhimmicrats dig in their heels and refuse to give another
dollar to the war effort, is there enough money (assuming a
complete shutdown of everything else) to continue the war
in Iraq (though not necessarily in Afghanistan) until the new
President and Congress take over in 2009?
I believe this war is won. But I do not want the dhimmicrats to
be able to turn it into a Vietnam styled defeat on this President’s
    watch.
I would rather shut every base in the USA, withdraw forces
from every friendly country in the world, postpone every weapons
program, and fire every civilian employee than let the
    dhimmicrats win.

I did some research yesterday to see just how many countries had at least 2 Islamic terrorist attacks in 2007. Here is what I came up with:

Thailand, Pakistan, Chechnya, Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan, India, Russia, Philippines, Pal. Auth., Ingushetia, Dagestan, Macedonia, Nigeria, Algeria, Austria, Sudan, Ghana, Maldives, Syria, Nepal, Lebanon, Israel, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Yemen, Scotland, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Chad, Jordan, USA, UAE.

List of Islamic Terror Attacks For the Past 2 Months

Islamic Terror Attacks for First Part of 2007

    Islamic Terror Attacks for 2006

    Islamic Terror Attacks for 2005

    Islamic Terror Attacks for 2004

Islamic Attacks from September 11th, 2001 through 2003

This is why I think focusing just on Al Quada is very short sighted.

    Take Care Folks.

That is part of their strategy. All the recent funding bills they did pass have not transfer clauses in them. You before could move money around to make your stuff work, but now they have it so tied up that Sec. Gates estimates we have after the cutoff maybe 10 days funding to do the war.

  6. Neo says:

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty. – John F. Kennedy, Friday, January 20, 1961

First, it was amazing that anyone so at odds with John F Kennedy would ever receive an award from the Kennedy Library & Museum, but now we see that there never was any courage involved.
Murtha give back the Profiles in Courage award ?

I heard an Iraqi war vet was going to run against Murtha.

  8. It’s strangely curious!

I can’t find “Bootlicker” or “THECENTERISABUNGHOLE” anywhere?

Where do you think the Anti-American/Pro-Jihadi Leftist Nutbag Lying Daily Cus-Omac Traitors went?

    I really miss them….

    BWAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!

  9. Dc says:

Evidently Pelosi is pissed…and Murtha is back-peddling…clarifying his earlier statements into a defeatest …we still need to get out NOW before this things turns around anymore!

  10. Georgeann King says:

Someone please do a YouTube parody of the Dem candidates as occurs in the FedEx commercial where the boss asks each one of the employees “can you fold like you always do? Continue not to live up to your resume? Waffle like you always do? etc. so he can go off to Kinko’s. I can think of no more fitting synopsis of these losers than that.

  11. AJ: the craziest part about Murtha’s “redeployment” to Okinaway scenario, which I pointed out to the Powerline Boys at the time (didn’t know about your Blog then…); was that the United States State Department, DOD, and hte United States Marine Corps, had taken a POUNDING in the Japanese press, and among Japanese Eco-Peace Activists/Anti-war Nutbags/Pacifiist/Anti-American Japanese Imperialists, for over a decade, over the LARGE US Military (espeically Marine Corps) “footprint” on the Island of Okinawa.

Finally, about six months before the complete Buffoon Murtha came up with his “redeployment” plan to Okinawa, the US State Department and the DOD agreed with the Japanese Government, to REDUCE our Military “footprint” by at least 50%, with the Vast Majority of those forces to be repositioned by the DOD to US territory such as Guam and Saipan (which is a US Commonwealth!)

So in fact, there was NO WAY, after going thru that decades long hassle, to negotiate that new US Military Forces posture in Okinawa(unfortunatly, extremely brutal US Military Forces actions against Okinawan citizens contributed to this as well, such as several brutal rapes and a few murders!) that the Government of Japan was going to suddenly go: “Sure, let’s take all your Military forces in Iraq, and redeploy them here to Okinawa!)

And the really crazy part, is that Mad, Buffoon Murtha, a retired Reserve Marine Office, is SUPPOSEDLY a “Miltary expert”, and he sits on all the House Armed Services Committees!

Interesting that he had no idea, that just six months prior, we had agreed with the Japanese Government to reduce our Military forces “footprint” on Okinawa, and that it was basically IMPOSSIBLE to “redeploy” any of our Iraqi Military forces back to Okinawa!

In other words: Murtha is a complete and utter Buffoon, and fraud.

But of course, you’ll never hear the Anti-American/Pro-Jihadi MSM pointing out little inconvenient facts like this, would you?

  12. MerlinOS2 says:

    AJ

It’s real simple if Murtha is coming out of his closet them dems have a spin plan and they are gonna use it.

  13. Dc says:

Yea…the other redeployment position was to move troops to “surrounding regions”….like Saudi Arabia !! I’m sure that would make things more calm…eh??

  14. DC: especially since Osama Bin Laden’s ORIGINAL reason for 9/11 was because we had troops in “Muslim Lands”!

And of course, all the Anti-American/Pro-Jihadi Leftwing Nutbags AGREE that’s a legitimate reason to attack and kill us; EXCEPT of course, when Buffoon Murtha suggests the EXACT SAME THING!

    What a bunch of Morons!
