Big Day In Pakistan

Published by at 2:13 pm under All General Discussions,Pakistan

A lot rides on tomorrow’s election for President in Pakistan. If Musharraf wins then I would expect to see serious action taken against al-Qaeda and the Taliban in the norther regions of Pakistan where they terrorists are now massing. Pakistan’s election is not by popular vote, so Musharraf can easily win (or lose). The BBC has a good overview on the process. When we will know the outcome is still hazy, but the results will impact the war on terror. But the fact the opposition is resigning (reminiscent of the attempt by Texas dems to run form their responsibilities to avoid losing their unearned majority in the Texas goverment) to try and devalue the results is telling. It would seem they are guaranteeing a Musharraf win. Keep an eye out America!

Upon what is this claim based?? Musharaff has been the virtual military dictator for the past 8 years and hasn’t done jacks*** about al-Qaeda or the Taliban or Osama bin Laden, as long as they operate in the tribal areas.

There would be more chance of cooperation with the US from almost anyone BUT Musharaff, unless of course the fundamentalist Islamic faction sooner or later deposes the sumbitch, but at that point the big worry will be the loose nukes . . .

LOL! Sooth, answered in a previous post.

Hint: why start a major military action BEFORE an election when a few days won’t change the outcome??

Typical blindered liberal. Can’t see the obvious.
