Dems Face First Challenge With Base

Published by at 8:56 pm under All General Discussions,Iraq

The people who voted for the Dems bought into their PR hype that they would be withdrawaling from Iraq. You can read it everwhere, and there have been votes on the issue. But before they have even been sworn into office, the dems are showing their two-faced nature by promising the Iraqi President they will not push to remove the troops. And we know Bush is not going to do it. Nancy and Harry have some ‘splaining to do. They misled someone here. Was it the voters or the Iraqis? The Reps took a pounding because they will not lie to the voters. The voters think we are getting out of Iraq. Especially all those liberals out there. Now they know.

Was that lie number one or two?

  2. Limerick says:

I think they are just sitting on their hands right now. Waiting for the Christmas recess. Come Jan, POW!…Kos eats DC(film at 11). They will never get away with ruling from the middle. Maybe the party will swing back to the center, but not now, not before 08.

I wish Talabani could name names. Who was he meeting with while he was in Washington? This is the kind of outing I’m in favor of.

What’s a quote that Nancy Pelosi said she would withdraw the troops from Iraq on a timetable?

  5. kathie says:

Murtha on PBS said that Pelosi signed onto troops out now.

  6. Limerick says:

“There are only two directions to take in Iraq: the president’s plan of stay the course and let a future president sweep up after you, or the Murtha plan to change the direction of that course. I support the Murtha plan.” Nancy Pelosi June 13, 2006.

Guess Pelosi’s promising everyone anything that they want to hear.

  8. Limerick says:

Christoph…that quote I posted is from the San Francisco Chronicle.

i predicted as much. nancy will bitch slap all these folks right off the stage. and exactly what are these “not in my name” folks going to do about it. that’s right, nothing.

pelosi and reid have their eyes on only one thing–the white house. that’s where the power resides. if tomorrow they think being to the right of attila the hun will get them there they would invade iran and syria. a casual review of dem statements prior to bush being elected should be enough to convince even the most skeptical. look how tough they pretended to be towards saddam, iran, n. korea and terrorism in general until bush got elected and said and did the same. the NY times will immediately say this new dem approach is necessary because of the prior bungling by bush et al. folks would have to be seriously naive if they think your average democrat believed any of the “we were lied to” rhetoric that passed as campaign lingo. everybody, but a few, inside the beltway knows the score. behind closed doors the bush doctrine will continue until he changes it.

nancy’s timetable will be approximately two years, subject to change of course. the anti war crowd will be treated just like the black electorate–as the help.

Does any one know, is the DOD budget passed through 2007?

  11. Limerick says:

It was submitted to Congress by President Bush in Feb 06. It is listed on the DOD site.

  12. ordi says:

The US Government runs their year from Oct 1 of one year until Sept 30th of the next. The DOD budget was passed within the 2007 budget. However, additional DOD spending requests may have trouble making it thru after Jan 07.

  13. Limerick says:

Although Congress made a good start on FY 2007 appropriations this summer, action ground almost to a halt in September. Although both the House and the Senate drafted their respective versions of all the FY 2007 appropriations bills before a month-long August recess, in September congressional appropriators were able to finalize only 2 of the 11 bills before the October 1 start of FY 2007…..

that from the aaas.org site. So it doesn’t look like everything is finalized yet.

  14. Christoph says:

    Thanks for your help, Limerick.

I think she could argue that she was supporting a change of course (new strategy), not necessarily redeployment to Okinawa, but it’s a loose argument.

Anyway, if she changes her mind now, I’ll forgive her.

  15. For Enforcement says:

I don’t personally think the Dems will stand with being accused of not furnishing enough body armor for the troops.

They shouted that at the Repubs often enuf.

    They’ll ok budget.

And what’s amazing, Patrick, is that they’ll get away with it — again. I wonder if Lincoln realized, when he said “you can fool some of the people all of the time,” just how profound and far-reaching that statement was. Liberal Democrats have refined it to an art form. Of all the things I find repugnant about the Democrat Party, the way they use constituancy groups is right up there near the top.

  17. Kaz-Man says:

    Retired Spook,

    Lincoln…….Chafee?

And to think, I was drinking Merlot and thinking how awful the election was 48 hours ago. Is this party going to self-destruct before offically taking over Congress?

    This is fun.

  18. Retired Spook says:

Kaz, well, I was referring to Lincoln…..Abraham, but I get your point. I guess the people of Rhode Island decided why settle for someone masquarading as a Dem when you can elect the real thing.

Is this party going to self-destruct before offically taking over Congress?

    One can certainly hope.

  19. Kaz-Man says:

Just kidding, spook. It’s kind of ironic, since Chafee is thinking of changing his party. He is tired of fooling people.
Seriously, though. I believe that a strong opposition party that puts the welfare of the nation ahead of else to be crucial to a stable democracy. The democrats for 6 years have not fulfilled their role. The war has not been waged with both party’s input. The donkeys opted out. Now that they have power, maybe they’ll start doing some critical thinking instead of being angry all the time.
