Sunni VP Calls For Reconciliation

Published by at 5:30 am under All General Discussions,Iraq

The last thing the American left needs right now is the Iraq government unifying and resolving differences. And it appears that there is still a unified Iraq when we see the Sunni Iraq VP come out and publically implore the Iraq insurgents to set down their arms and join the political process. Doesn’t sound like a civil war to me, where groups attempt to set up opposing government structures and centers.

I hope so, though I am perplexed at why we didn’t separate Iraq into three states in the first place… which especially would mean the previously tyrannical Sunnis would be in a minority to the previously oppressed Shiites.

Really, it seems like we are expecting the to be saints.

This said, I support the Iraq war strongly because it is a crucial front on the war against Islamo-Fascists. We need our troops in Iraq, right in the center of some of the most fanatical states. We don’t “make” terrorists, like the Left claim… we force those whose hearts were full of terrorism to face us. This is a front against Islamic terrorism. We need more, not less.

    Pull,
    Reasons weighing against three states:
    1) Turkey is afraid of a united Kurd nation, so is opposed to Kurds in northern Iraq splitting off.

    2) Oil in Iraq isn’t evenly distributed, so one of the three parts would come up short.

    3) Unity in Iraq would be a shining example of sectarian cooperation for the rest of the ME, if achieved.
