Hezbollah Will Reject UN Resolution

Published by at 10:54 pm under All General Discussions,Hezbollah,Iran

Update: As I suspected, Hezbollah has set an unreasonable condition, which therefore equates to a rejection.

Hezbollah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah said on Saturday the militant organization would abide by the U.N. cease-fire resolution but would keep fighting as long as Israeli troops remained in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah doesn’t want a truce, they want to win and die doing so. And their masters in Iran cannot have the eyes of the international community back on their nuclear weapons program. No surprise here. Personally I think France and the UN is walking into a trap where Hezbollah attempts to blame Israel for any attacks that injure the UN forces. Time will tell. End Update

I have no doubt Hezbollah will be directed by their Iranian masters to reject the UN resolution seeking a ceasefire in the ME. That is why Olmert accepted it. If Hezbollah accepts the focus of the world goes back to the Iranian nuclear weapons program, and the Iranians cannot have that happen. And when this happens what lame excuse will the elitists liberals come up with then? Besides Bush caused the problem.

Walid Phares believes that Hezbollah will take over the remainder of Lebanon starting at the blue line…that is, if Hezbollah stops firing rockets towards Israel. Last I read was that over 55 rockets were fired today Israel time (8/12).

Then a new war will be started shortly.

    We’ll see.

I do not like what I see of Ehud Olmert. He looks like a whining lefty wing pussy.

  3. Mark78 says:

The only good outcome of this resolution is if Hezbollah rejects it but then again why is Hezbollah even being presented with a resolution?? Why are they being given legitamacy by being treated this way?

  4. MerlinOS2 says:

If any resolution does not include Hezbollah being brought up on war crime charges for fighting among civilian shields then it is just a validation of the tactic for future conflicts.

Otherwise the world as a whole is ignoring the elephant in the room and setting itself up for more future handwringing tearjerk media mahem.

The lesson learned in the other case is that all we need to stop the slaughter in Darfur is an army of Green Helmets with enough press enablers.

I think we should wait and see what is really involved here before we pass judgment. Too many people are making too many assumptions.

As for war crimes, well why not bring the Islamists in Darfur up on war crimes? I agree that using people as human shields is a war crime, but it is also standard MO for these guys all over the world.

This resolution requires that Lebanon restrain Hezbellah. If they can not then Israel can and will respond. So far Israel continues to fight and I don’t see anything changing that quickly.

According to the content of the lead article in DebkaFile today, UN resolution 1701 is a disaster for both Lebanon and Israel, with only Hezballah coming out the winner; Fouad Siniora is quotes as complaining to the US undersecretary of state David Welch that the resolution “gives Hizballah better protection than us.”
In my book this indicates that Olmert’s behaviour is nearly treasonous and Dr. Rice is the new Chamberlain. I pray to God that the cedasefire will not hold.

Since there is so much analysis of all this, I’ll add my say.

First, why is Olmert agreeing to the resolution? Answer, the US has put pressure on him to do so, Why, because right now Israel and US have lost the publicity battle, Too many civilians being injured in Lebanon. What’s the strategy behind this move?
TERRYE said:”This resolution requires that Lebanon restrain Hezbellah. If they can not then Israel can and will respond. So far Israel continues to fight and I don’t see anything changing that quickly. She’e probably right on this. I don’t see Iran allowing Hezbollah to stop what they’re doing.
That’s the gist of AJ’s post: he said: “I have no doubt Hezbollah will be directed by their Iranian masters to reject the UN resolution seeking a ceasefire in the ME. That is why Olmert accepted it. ”

Then who’s the culprit: Not Israel. When it is obvious that Hezbollah is not abiding, then Israel will be the good guy and maybe then Hezbollah can be eliminated for good. At least we can hope so.

Last but not least: Charles in Tex said:
I do not like what I see of Ehud Olmert. He looks like a whining lefty wing pussy.

On the humorus side, leave out the words “whining lefty wing” and he would be more desirable. Don’t put it all on him, Israel is split right now also, but he has no choice but to go with the US on this.

just wrote long comment and it got lost, it basically was written in support of AJ’s, Terrye and Charles in Tex statements, this is to see if it gets lost again.

Terrye, I quoted Charles in Texas above on that and I said he was wrong. Note tho that I did say you are right in what you said.
