US Intelligence Part Of Breaking Up Plot

Published by at 9:44 am under All General Discussions,UK Airline Plot

Rep Pete Hoekstra (R) released a statement I just heard on Fox News that applauded US intelligence in stopping this plot. What has me wondering is how the US was involved in exposing 21 individuals in thye UK. Well, one way are the two terrorism surveillance programs exposed by the liberal fringe at the NY Times comes to mind. The financial tracking program (along with the modern Able Danger data mining which monitors purchases, etc) could have helped. But my guess is the NSA and its truly unique monitoring capabilities may be the heroes of the day. The financial tracking might identify suspects, the NSA can get inside their planning process. The indications are this plot was close to execution. Which tells me it was late in being detected. Authorities would never let things get this close to execution. So I am still wondering about those two men arrested in Ohio yesterday. If they were Pakistani then maybe they were the trigger.

I heard a story on the radio this morning that Swiss courts have ruled that info on suspected terrorist related accounts must be released to investigators.

Seems this was a low hanging fruit that was possibly revealed by the “swift system”

Don’t ya love it when a plan comes together!

The below link, leads to a Sky News article, about the airplane bombing plot out of the UK today:

    http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30100-1230422,00.html

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Peter Clarke said the probe had been underway for several months…….

“During the investigation an unprecedented level of surveillance has been undertaken and that surveillance has had as its objective to gather intelligence and evidence in support of the investigation,” he said.

“We have been looking at meetings, movements, travel, spending and the aspirations of a large group of people. This has involved close co-operation not only between agencies and police forces in the UK but also internationally.

Notice the keys words in the passages:

    SURVEILLANCE

    SPENDING

So, my rhetorical questions for the MSM are:

    1) in light of your revelations over the past year, vis a vis the NSA Surveillance Program, and the SWIFT Banking Programs; IF this plot had succeeded, would you be willing to pay compensation to the victims families, for your part in destroying our intelligence capabilities to stop such plots?

    2) since the plot was disrupted, HOPEFULLY, how much sooner could it have been disrupted, IF you had NOT revealed that information?

    3) how many other plots will we NOT find, because of your irresponsibility?

    4) will you (NY Times, LA Times, etc.); now make it your duty to find out the means used, to disrupt this plot, and reveal it as soon as you can??

    Ad Nauseum, ad naseum….

Do you know if it is possible to open the windows on the upper floors of the new NYT building? If the answer is in the affirmative, defenestration could be a means for the NYT to reduce terrorism-enabling staff and also expenses. Otherwise window replacement would have to be worked in the equation. Similarly efficient methods could be used at other MSM outlets. 😉

In one of the pressers this morning, the Brits said that the plotters had been under “intense surveillance” for months, including tracking their financial records in a very complex and global plot.

    We Can Hear You …

Lost amid the success by British intelligence and law enforcement in breaking up parts of the airline terror threat is the fact that U.S. intelligence sources were in on the case. How?

Well, let’s just say the NSA should come out of this case looking pretty good. And whoever leaked classified information about international eavesdropping on terrorist conversations should be getting very nervous. This British case just became Exhibit A for how important the listening program is.
