Happy Thanksgiving 2016!

Published by at 3:02 pm under All General Discussions

I have decided I am done with politics for this week.

I want to instead focus on all we can be thankful for, which in my case is a wonderful family and the opportunity to realize the American Dream of self-made success (at least to the rungs of the Upper Middle Class).

I recently discovered an ancestral branch reaching back to the founding of this nation in New England, not long after the first Thanksgiving. It was a very interesting surprise to this son of Virginia!

I also recently learned I have Native American ancestors – which was another surprise to this very European-looking, American mutt. It was actually comforting to know my family roots went back to both the first founders of the nation and the natives who lived here for centuries before the European’s arrived.

I was even more proud to learn my family line leads back to those few in New England who promoted co-existence with the Indians over conquering them. This is, in fact, one likely source of my Indian roots. My European ancestors lived as neighbors and in harmony with the Indians of New England for many decades.

Anyway, now when I think of Family and Thanksgiving, I can relate to four centuries of American history related to this uniquely American Holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

    Indeed: “Happy Thanksgiving”!!

    (1) We live in a country where starvation is not a threat.

    (2) We live in a country where we choose our leaders.

    (3) We live in a country whose culture is informed and illuminated by the ideals of Western Civilization and Judeo-Christian morality.

    (4) We still have hope.

Forward, unto the breach, Patriots!!! (After a whole lot of turkey and perhaps a light snooze afterward….)
