A Common Mistake

The Democrat Plan for taking back Congress makes a common mistake. It insults American intelligence by pandering to feel good rhetoric while lacking anything bold:

“Our new direction will advance a common agenda, seek common ground, and apply common sense in the service of the common good.”

What a common crock. Democrats hire the most arrogant, preachy PR people in the business. The dumber the PR people think Americans are, the more likely the insecure Democrats are to hire them. This is for the ‘common‘ people, the strange, uninformed species that works dawn to dusk to make a living which elitist read about and see when they go out in public. What else explains such a blatant attempt to ‘connect’ than using a poll tested word four times in one sentence?

As for their feel-good rhetoric there is nothing but fear-mongering of more poll-tested issues:

Make Health Care More Affordable: Fix the prescription drug program by putting people ahead of drug companies and HMO’s, eliminating wasteful subsidies, negotiating lower drug prices and ensuring the program works for all seniors; invest in stem cell and other medical research.

Drug companies are an essential element in our national healthcare. When Democrats play their socialists game of ‘boogy-man businessman’ they pander to the fear people may have that their well being is out of their own hands. Well, it is. We need innovative, risk taking by drug companies to keep pushing the envelope and coming up with new treatments, like the vaccine which just came out to cure cervical cancer. To the Democrats, this is nothing more than evil capitolism which needs to be replaced with failed, universal, government run health care. As states move away from the government controlled health care (where the government gets right between you and your doctor), the states are moving in the opposite direction. The ‘new direction’ here is back to the failed policies of the past.

Lower Gas Prices and Achieve Energy Independence: Crack down on price gouging; eliminate billions in subsidies for oil and gas companies and use the savings to provide consumer relief and develop American alternatives, including biofuels; promote energy efficient technology.

This is also known as the Bush plan, which has these provisions plus exploiting US oil fields and looking to clean nuclear energy. There is no discernable difference between this and the Bush proposals the Democrats blocked for 6 years. What the Dems want is the end of individual transportation in this country. Think about that. The end of individual transportation – the end of having the freedom to get in your car and drive someplace.

Help Working Families: Raise the minimum wage; repeal tax giveaways that encourage companies to move jobs overseas.

What a bunch of oxymoronic garbage. Cheap labor encourages companies to move manufacturing overseas. So raising wages here will only make them move more jobs. And I have not worked minimum wage since High School (and neither has anyone else in middle America). If you want to help us, cut taxes by reducing the size of government. Socialistic taxes are another reason businesses move. Just ask NY and CA, which lose businesses to the South in droves and have been for decades.

Cut College Costs: Make college tuition deductible from taxes; expand Pell grants and slash student loan costs.

This is the same as the Bush plan. But the real cost of college is paying idiots like Ward Churchill for a lifetime of wastef hate speech. Reduce college costs by removing dead wood which have to be paid for a career’s worth of salary and a plush retirement cushion.

Ensure Dignified Retirement: Prevent the privatization of Social Security; expand savings incentives; and ensure pension fairness.

If the Democrats think the Social Security benefits that will be available to us post-boomers is dignified, there is no better reason I can think of to vote these fools out. That is lowering the bar to the point Skid Row looks dignified. Want to expand my savings? Cut my taxes so I can save more of what I earn.

Require Fiscal Responsibility: Restore the budget discipline of the 1990s that helped eliminate deficits and spur record economic growth.

This comes under the category of a bold faced lie. The budget discipline of the 1990’s was fought tooth and nail by the Democrats. The liberal left is known for unbridled spending on every conceivable social program man has ever thought up. Look at California, the one state with plenty of revenue and industry and Democratic policies: it is an economic disaster.

What is not on the Democrat List:

Protecting America From Terrorism

Winning The War Against Al Qaeda

Supporting Fledgling Democracies In the Middle East

The Democrat Agenda also forgot to mention their true number one priority – impeachment of George W Bush. Now that the Dems have this vacuous proposal, it should be pretty obvious who wants to lead the world’s last super power. And it is not going to be led by people focused on the minimal wage, a wage most people only experience briefly in after school or summer jobs.

The minimum wage argument was one that was also proposed by Kennedy during the immigration discussion. Nothing new, as I’ve listened to him at least 20 times during the last two years–every time that budgets are discussed, he thinks that minimum wages are germane.
There are two primary minimum wage earner types–waitresses, who depend on tips for a large part of their income, and teenagers. Because of increases in the minimum wage, our teenagers’ possibility of getting parttime/summer jobs are reduced, making it difficult to learn what the world of work is about. Another cultural tragedy, especially for minority youth.

The dems revealed their hand with the takedown of Jefferson and thier “moral high ground” positioning.

This is just a pre impeachment setup of climbing to the top of moral mountain.

I wonder how many more E ticket rides they plan before the midterm elections.

as a btw comment I was just reading a post over at the Kos kids place after thier “Rocky Mountain High” addreneline push of the Las Vegas getup and it is very revealing how one poster that questioned the “logical gestalt” was trashed and wasted in a feeding frenzy of reactionary response. Even the original poster got into the overkill.

Have to believe the original poster has a car with this warning on his side mirrors.

Warning images of your self importance may be larger than they appear.

Today my mission to visit one member of the fighting 101st each day took me over to Strata-Sphere. Where A. J. Strata is beating holy heck out of the Democrats new direction. Which as near as I can tell is following a slightly different road …

It occured because of the Republicans digging in with the Contract with America to fight the demo budget busting spending spree.

The Republicans stopped it and the Dems revisionist history wishes to claim the credit. What a wishy washy slimeball tactic. Not to mention so provable.

The only thing missing from their “position of choice” is a decleration of the necessity of funding “free replacement batteries” to the toys of choice based on the constitutional guarantee of the pursuit of happiness.

I am holding my breath for my equal opportunity guarranteed date with Demi Moore.

Yup right after the Edsel is voted car of the year.

Back in the 90’s they moved a lot of people from Medicare to medicaid and it took a couple of years for the costs to catch up. There’s a lot of smoke and mirrors in these budgets.

As for cutting the price of gas? How? Nothing they said has anything to do with the price of gas. Wholesale is about $2 right now. Nothing in the last will have any effect on that.

I get really sick of the whole immigration/Dubai right wing hysteria thing that plagues the Republicans but as long as the Democrats are acting this stupid I will not vote for them.

I suggest any right winger out there who is thinking about sitting it out in November just stop and think about Pelosi running the House and impeaching Bush. If you can sit back for that you are one sorry excuse for a conservative.

An oil minister in Dubai commented on this a couple of weeks ago and he stated that based on world oil stocks and current production rates the true fair market value of oil should by historic standards be about $15 a barrel. He said the rest of the current price is solely due to speculators running up the price due to worldwide political unrest.
Same principle as the dotcom bust and housing bubble. Bid for the sky and hope you don’t make the last bid before the fall. Same applys to the last runup in the final $200 surge of gold prices years ago.
Real fun to watch, and a money maker as long as you don’t try to catch a falling knife.

The energy aspects of this plan are pure hokeum. How many times can they go to the well with the price gouging mantra. That alone is enough to discredit this garbage.

I am ex Navy and ran nuclear power plants. I did this on submarines and aircraft carriers.

The lefts position on drilling for oil and their opposition to nuclear power are well documented. Also Ted Kennedy is noted for his opposition to wind power in his neighborhood.

This whole document could gag a maggot, since it proposes everything they object to and have demonstratedly oppossed.

How they can try to push this on the public as their proposed agenda is beyond me.

As to the minimum wage, you hit the nail on the head. This is a canard that should frankly be eliminated.

It quite frankly is an insult that only appeals to those whose IQ is somewhat less than room temperature.

I worry more that the Dems real agenda is attacking the Maximum Wage. In the last month, my daytrading account has accumulated a gain that works out to $43.00 per minute. I know that with that kind of return the dems wish to paint a target on my back, just because I did my homework, made the right calls and profited from it. Yup I need to be slapped with a windfall profits tax. Personally I think they are just jealous.
