Syrian Strike Plans Published By ABCNews

Published by at 10:10 am under All General Discussions

Really?

According to ABC News, in additional to a salvo of 200 Tomahawk cruise missiles fired from four Navy destroyers stationed in the eastern Mediterranean, the US is also planning an aerial campaign that is expected to last two days.

This campaign potentially includes an aerial bombardment of missiles and long range bombs from US-based B-2 stealth bombers that carry satellite-guided bombs, B-52 bombers, that can carry air-launched cruise missiles and Qatar-based B-1s that carry long-range, air-to-surface missiles, both ABC News and The New York Times reported.

“This military strike will do more damage to [Syrian President Bashar] Assad’s forces in 48 hours than the Syrian rebels have done in two years,” a national security official told ABC News.

Who is the idiot that released details of the US strike plan on Syria so it can be broadcasted on the internet? Who released the obviously classified fact we have B-1s based in Qatar?

For everyone’s information, Stealth bombers are not invisible.  Stealth works best if the targets don’t know what is coming. Even the best stealth bomber is visible, it is just reduced in Radar and IR signature. The stealth plane’s approach needs to weave in and out of the ground radar visibilities to minimize detection.

What this report does is identify the approach paths of the US bombers. The B-52s are the ones that fly high and carpet bomb (because they are not stealthy or nimble). The stealth planes employ other methods

Ed Morrissey over at Hot Air thinks this was some sort of butching up to gain back some GOP hawks, and makes this observation:

This raises a couple of questions about the “no boots on the ground” promise coming from Obama and John Kerry.  In order to make these kinds of pinpoint-accurate attacks with either bombers or cruise missiles, it’s usually better (although not entirely necessary) to have spotters on the ground lighting up the targets.  That means boots on the ground, even if everything goes perfectly.  What happens if our bombers get shot down over Syria?

Which of course ALSO puts everyone on the ground in Syria (both sides) to be on the lookout for scout teams.

What a cluster! I just can’t believe the ineptitude of this administration!

I suggest they throw all these plans in the trash now – they are of no use, and probably dangerous to our military personnel.

Well Obviously it was either Obama or Hagel, or one of their minions. (Valerie Jarrett?) They think nothing of selling out this country in order to win the days “news cycle”, and this was leaked to try and convince people that “hey, there’s no risk, it won’t be that bad.”

And we supposed to trust these clueless ass-clowns to lead us in a war? But Obama thinks he has to have a war to prove how “macho” he is, or something.

As Limbaugh said years ago, I Hope He Fails.

    Well – there is this:
(us conspiracy mongers have been saying it for a few years but
now it is in the Egyptian papers)

    Is it true?
No one can prove it, of course, but it would explain a lot of our suicidal middle east manoeuvres since President Bush left office.

“What a cluster! I just can’t believe the ineptitude of this administration!” They’re not that good.

You seen Feinstein in these meetings? She looks shell shocked.

Yes, I do also. I completely believe that the administration itself released the details to win the heart of Repubs. Each Tomahawk is 1.2 million dollars. So 200 x 1.2 =$240 million. (I thought we were broke)
While I am a die hard loyal American, there is nothing honorable about what is going on in Washington or Syria. In fact, I think aiding al Qaeda in any way is treason.

As Rush Limbaugh said, “we are in the midst of absurdity” Rumsfeld said: “this president has tried to find a way to blame everybody, or anybody, for everything”
Feintein said: ” Once the administration made this call, I think there is a real need for us to ‘back it up’ ”
Oh Lordy yes, once Obama has spoken, we should kiss his ring…

and WWS said:” And we supposed to trust these clueless ass-clowns to lead us in a war? ” truly an honest description of the prez and his cronies…

The person the administration is using for intel, as well as McCain, is a 26 year old woman who is also being paid by the insurgents (the good guy insurgents) . She was on Fox, who later came to know her connections. They blame Bush for his intelligence……..what about their own source?

  5. WWS says:

    (the good guy insurgents)

That would be the “good guys” who are executing prisoners on youtube, and burning down Christian villages. Not meaning to pick on you, though, it’s just that this is a war in which there are NO “good guys”. They are ALL wretched, murderous barbarians, which is why they deserve each other. But because of this, if we get involved, it is GUARANTEED that we will be helping some of our worst enemies – again, because EVERYONE there is our enemy!!!

Well, at least it looks like the Congressional Outreach Program is working about as well as everything else Obama has tried. There’s a pic going around, showing Obama holding his head in his hands, with the caption, “The Awkward Moment when you realize that the only allies the US can Muster for a Syria attack – are the terrorists who flew planes into your buildings 12 years ago!!!”

  6. kathie says:

WWS, I personally agree there are no good guys. But the President and McCain are saying that we are supporting “the good guys” with our bombing, based on a 26 year old woman’s intel who’s being paid by the Free Syrian Army. It is with high confidence that she knows who gassed 400 children. My point is, what are the chances this is good intel, say compared to Iraqi intel?

  7. kathie says:

I was re this: New Your Times…..oh please!
NEW YORK – Evidence is mounting that the strategy by Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Secretary of State John F. Kerry to cast members of the Free Syria Army as “moderates” among the rebel forces opposing the government of Bashir al-Assad was the brain-child of Elizabeth O’Bagy, a 26-year-old graduate student pursuing a Ph.D. in Arab studies and political science at Georgetown University, who is working on a dissertation on woman’s militancy.

  8. WWS says:

I see your point, Kathie. And given that she is “pursuing a Ph.D. in Arab Studies”, what are the odds that she favors the total destruction of Israel and has an implacable hatred of both Christians & Jews? (Not that this would stop her from using them as pawns when it was convenient)

Of course, not to say that Assad’s govm’t is any better. I haven’t forgotten that he hid Saddam’s wmd during the Iraq war, and shipped hundreds of Al Qaeda fighters across his eastern border to kill our troops.

Bottom line, for me, is – Arabs killing Arabs – why should we stop it? When 2 of our enemies decide to murder each other, let them!

  9. kathie says:

Why is it that no one comments on where Assad got his tons of various gasses?

  10. Redteam says:

I have commented on that, maybe not here. He obviously got them when the WMD’s were moved out of Iraq in 2003. It’s the “WMD’s that don’t exist”.

  11. kathie says:

Redteam, I was thinking about MSM. I guess I know the answer. Obama can’t be stricking Syria because Iraq transfered WMD to Syria, just like Bush said. That would be an impossible situation for the President!

Zerohedge has been blogging some fascinating pieces, regarding how weak and maybe even fabricated the evidence is as to who actually disbursed the chemical — Assad’s government or the Syrian rebels.

There are two posts in particular, although somewhat overlapping, extending questions already floating around, as to what really happened in Syria last August 21st. The first is:
Obama’s missing link: no direct connection between Assad and gas attack.

Indeed, and the bulk of it has been based on false flag pretenses, just like this one.

Perhaps, for once, the American people will see right through Obama’s shiny facade and pompous, if completely hollow rhetoric, and straight to the lies, and finally say no.

Unfortunately, if past is prologue, a lot of innocent Syrian civilians are about to die one way or the other, in yet another unjust war serving higher interests, and even higher money, in which the common person is merely “collateral damage.”

The other is: High-level U.S. intelligence officers: Syrian Government didn’t launch chemical weapons.

The Obama administration has selectively used intelligence to justify military strikes on Syria, former military officers with access to the original intelligence reports say, in a manner that goes far beyond what critics charged the Bush administration of doing in the run-up to the 2003 Iraq war.

According to these officers, who served in top positions in the United States, Britain, France, Israel, and Jordan, a Syrian military communication intercepted by Israel’s famed Unit 8200 electronic intelligence outfit has been doctored so that it leads a reader to just the opposite conclusion reached by the original report.

The doctored report was picked up on Israel’s Channel 2 TV on Aug. 24, then by Focus magazine in Germany, the Times of Israel, and eventually by The Cable in Washington, DC.

These are both long, intertwined, serious commentaries, fully documented with links to the information discussed, and basically just interesting reads.

While power line humorously describes the photo of Obama huddling with his advisors in the situation room as “The team of nitwits,” the NYTs title above the written piece is more discreet, Photos tell a tale of anguished deliberations.

I think I prefer the former title better.

What will Putin extract from the United States for handing Obama a life line. It can’t be for free…..surely he will want something in return. It took 7 years for get WMD out of Lybia……how long will it take to retrieve WMD while a civil war is going on in Syria, if ever?

  16. WWS says:

Putin has already gotten everything he wanted – support and aid for Syria, and the complete humiliation of American in front of the entire world – even the koolaid drinking libs know that this was a diplomatic disaster for Obama, even though they are trying to pretend otherwise.

Just know this – the WMD are NEVER leaving Syria, and everyone knows that. But we are going to agree to let Russia promise to watch it all – which is what they always wanted, complete authority to do whatever they want in Syria while we run away, with our tail between our legs.

Watch – there are going to be months of negotiations about what this new protocol means, and then they will pretend to implement it, and then there won’t be any measurements, and then there will be months of “negotiations” about whether it got measured or not, and by the time 4 or 5 years of messing around goes by playing with pencil pushers, Assad will have cemented his hold on the region with Russian and Iranian help.

And that’s where this story is heading. We will pretend to have done something, and everyone will know we haven’t, and Assad and Putin will be able to do whatever they want, with a guarantee that we will never stick our collective noses into their business over there again.

in another thread, we’ve talked here about the Quebec train disaster, and how there really shouldn’t have been any explosion if this train was just carrying crude oil, or diesel equivalents. But witnesses all reported that there was a huge explosion.

Report is out today – yep, several of the cars in that train were filled with gasoline and gasoline equivalents, but were labeled to show that they were carrying far less volatile components. This is still preliminary, but it’s starting to look like there were some serious shenanigans going on, including intentional falsification of the bills of lading for this train. Somebody needs to pay for this one.
