Folly of Fools (i.e., Dems On Gun Control

Published by at 2:26 pm under All General Discussions

Talk about your unforced errors. This entire gun control fiasco by the Dems has been a real hoot. They have completely depleted any political capital, good will, head start or grace period with Main Street USA after the 2012 elections. They went on a Fool’s Folly, and came up busted up.

A proposed ban on sales of assault weapons would be defeated in the U.S. Senate today unless some members changed their current views, based on a Bloomberg review of recent lawmaker statements and interviews.

At least six of the chamber’s 55 Democrats have recently expressed skepticism or outright opposition to a ban, the review found. That means Democrats don’t have a simple 51-vote majority to pass the measure, let alone the 60 votes needed to break a Republican filibuster to bring it to a floor vote.

Worse yet, guess who is exempted from said ban:

Not everyone will have to abide by Senator Dianne Feinstein’s gun control bill. If the proposed legislation becomes law, government officials and others will be exempt.

Hunters are exempt as well. But the point is arming the government and disarming the people is just too similar to all the really bad moves ever made in human history. All I see is an enormous lightning rod, stuck into a bull’s eye, sitting on the butt of the DNC

Look, guns are machines. Just like cars they can be deadly machines. It is not the machine, nor all the other law abiding users of the machines that need to be blamed for the sick minds that use them to kill others. As is well known, more people are killed by knives than guns, and the human carnage by cars is enormous. So it is no surprise these gun control laws never save lives – ever.

A murderer who wants to kill will find a way.

BTW, click the picture above and read through the proverbs on fools. I especially liked this one [page 6]:

A fool is deaf to Information & Impulsive

Spouting off before listening to the facts is both shameful and foolish

Wise people think before they act; fools don’t – and even brag about their foolishness

Yep…

Everything you’ve said here is AOK with me except “more people are killed by knives than guns”. I am not sure if you intended to say “more people are killed by knives than rifles”. But, in the interest of keeping everything we say correct, perhaps you can explain how you can correct your statement. Other than that, I totally support what you’re saying. The Dem’s have chosen the wrong issue to run with. But that’s what they do. They use fear, emotion and offers of safety to pull in their constituents. The Republicans do the same, they just offer different candy.

Obama doesn’t think he has to obey the Constitution like everyone else does. His unconstitutional “recess appointments” and outright lying about Benghazi and other unconstitutional and illegal acts is an indication he thinks he has absolute power to do as he pleases. In direct contradiction to what the Dem insiders and media hacks are trying to tell us, Obama obviously is not the brightest bulb in the pack. He obviously thinks his reelection gives him absolute power to do whatever he pleases. This indicates he is a perfect example of the self esteem enhanced, socially promoted, affirmative actioned college graduate who believes he is smart enough to tell everyone else what to do, while everything he puts his hands on turns to crap. Just look at his green energy fiascos, his solar and wind boondoggles, and his stated intention to shut down our fossile fuel electricity generating plants when the technology does not yet exist to replace them. He must think he is God if he thinks he can allievate heat waves (AKA as global worming) which have been proven to be caused by solar flares on the sun. This guy is a buffoon, all pumped up withhis own self esteem, who doesn’t have sense enough to pour anythign out of a rubber boot. Look at the idiotic and misguided malcontents and losers he has surrounded himself with as advisers.

Momdear1: I agree, but what concerns me is that we re-elected this guy. Even worse, we had to know what we were getting this being the 2nd time around.

How does a thinking person not lose respect for the folks we have placed on the hill? When the lawmakers ignore (annual budget) the law and exempt (Affordable health care act and now this ) themselves from others it does not instill much confidence in them or our system. The brewing email scandal at the EPA is another troubling development for the “most transparent administration ever”.

One of the worst Dem defenses for why gun control is needed is by Sandy Sheedy, Sacramento City Councilmember.
