March Open Thread – Where Will Wisconsin Lead?

Published by at 11:59 am under All General Discussions

Folks, after 4 months of scrambling to get work I am now just swamped. My sincere apologies on the lack of posts but we are heading towards a major review next week and my day job is the priority when push comes to shove.

We are coming to a head in Wisconsin, as union pouters whine in the state capitol about how they are so much more important and heroic and deserving of the rest of us. Their pathetic temper tantrums are getting more and more shrill as the public turns their back on their ridiculous and petulant complaints:

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 33% of Likely U.S. Voters would rather have Congress avoid a government shutdown by authorizing spending at the same levels as last year. Fifty-eight percent (58%) says itโ€™s better to have a partial shutdown until Democrats and Republicans can agree on what spending to cut. …

The partisan differences are striking. Fifty-eight percent (58%) of Democrats prefer avoiding a shutdown by going with current spending levels. But 80% of Republicans — and 59% of voters not affiliated with either major party — think a shutdown is a better option until the two sides can agree on spending cuts.

While these numbers reflect the national mood for DC, they also strongly echo the mood surrounding Wisconsin. If the Dems doubt this, I dare them to run from DC and stop the votes on the Hill. Go ahead, commit Harikari and get it all over with.

The Wisconsin Governor warned that small sacrifices spread broadly would be the only alternative to painful lay offs isolated into the ranks of government workers. The unions called his bluff, and he holding a royal straight flush while they hold a pair of deuces.

Not only will the unions and dems lose this battle, they will have tapped the last of their credibility and political capitol. This is more than a loss, it is a defeat.

ON another subject but COULD BE related…Did you see this article by Bill Gertz?
    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/feb/28/financial-terrorism-suspected-in-08-economic-crash/

I have been calling it financial terrorism since ’08 and was saying this very thing during 2008/2009-it just wasn’t a normal correction…the markets were not behaving as usual…We were under attack and still are, imho. Gertz agrees.

  2. WWS says:

Financial terrorism is what the Wisconsin Democrats are doing now, don’t you think?

  3. ivehadit says:

Yes, WWS! We are at war in a greater way than most are realizing, imho.

I’ve long thought that the timing of the crisis in 2008 was awfully suspect. Right at the instant that McCain was developing a solid lead, the markets toppled – putting Obama in the White House, and ensuring that his Wall Street supporters/cronies would pocket billions of taxpayer dollars.

    How Very Odd.

As to the Dems committing seppuku, I offer my services as second. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Another issue to watch
The Republicans in the house have agreed to let the Demonrats hold hearings on climate change

    http://thehill.com/blogs/e2-wire/677-e2-wire/146785-house-gop-agrees-to-hold-climate-science-hearing-at-request-of-democrats

    Time to exposse the frauds

  6. WWS says:

Those hearings could be ridiculous if only the Dems call witnesses; on the other hand, if Upton has the nerve and sense to call someone like Pielke in front of the committee, they could be fantastic!

Just have to wait and see if the GOP committee members have any sense or if they let themselves be outmaneuvered.

Did you all hear Louis Farrakhan recently? “It’s coming to America”…

Sounds like the ’60’s all over again and I say, BRING IT ON.

Did you all hear Louis Farrakhan recently? “It’s coming to America”…meaning rev-o-lu-tion, I suppose.

Sounds like the ’60’s all over again and I say, BRING IT ON. We learned a lot from the ’60’s…

    Yes, let the Light shine…

    farrahkhan, feh. He’s still alive?

kind of funny thinking about how he’s fuming watching his bosom buddy Qaddafi go down in flames.

btw, has anyone else noticed how insane this ranting about the Koch brothers by the left is? You get the impression that the left thinks that everyone who posts on or writes a blog that isn’t leftoid gets a salary from them. If only!

honestly, I had never heard of them before the left started whining about them. Neither had anyone else. I think it goes to show that the Left cannot even frame an argument unless they have someone (or a group of someones) to attack personally. Hmm, kind of reminds me of a movement that caused a lot of trouble in Europe about 70 years ago….

    WATCH GLEN BECK RIGHT NOW!

I watched the last half of today’s Beck show. Which part did you find it interesting? Based on the time of your post, must be the first half.

I see that WI Senate just passed a bill that will fine each AWOL Senator 100 bucks a day if they are gone for more than two days. And they must pay up before their salaries will be reinstated.

Small penalty but still a strong message.

I see that Obama signed the extension of the CR by two weeks. Now the next step is going to be difficult. Because the next one will be another CR with more cuts, I think this puts NASA’s future in jeopardy.

Ohio also passed a bill to eliminate collective bargaining.

It appears that WI Republicans will win the current battle.
