Iraq and Al Qaeda

Published by at 8:56 pm under All General Discussions,Iraq

** update: many readers alerted me that the documents come from Iraq and Afghanistan, which is why there are some with so much insight into Al Qaeda operations.  Thanks for the heads up **

As I am glancing through the newly released documents it is hard to believe this is a Iraq stash and not an Al Qaeda stash. Either someone in Iraq was on the distribution list for a lot of operations reports or Iraq had someone inside Al Qaeda sending these back for intelligence purposes. The breadth and depth of information shows a lot of mundane and important information was reaching Iraq somehow. While Iraqi’s infiltrating Al Qaeda would put distance between the two, it still begs the question why didn’t Saddam use this as peace offering to the US through Russian and French intermediaries to delay the invasion. This is the kind of information Saddam could easily provide to derail the US march to invsion.

Obviously there is a lot of material to go through, but as folks do think about the few ways this kind of information could be gathered.
