Obama Bombs On SOTU

Published by at 9:24 pm under All General Discussions

Final Insult: Obama had two American heroes in the audience (the two police officers who took down Major Nidal Hasan as he slaughtered innocent Americans at Ft Hood). They were sitting right next to the first lady. The President never recognized them. True heroes. I believe the woman just recently left the hospital her injuries were so bad.

And yet the President never called them out, never recognized their heroism or sacrifice. That was the caddish thing to do. It was an unforgivable omission. – end update

I was not going to post on the SOTU. But after 10 minutes depressing review of the last 4 decades and the hopelessness of America before Obama showed up I had to go up two flights of stairs and post.  His speech is about as fun as a ‘root canal’. By the time he got to the ‘nation is strong’ he had depressed the room.

As the folks watching in the room with me noticed, Obama  went forever without any applause. It started out so poorly it will only go down hill from there.

The guy is really blowing it. We all had more to spend? And then he brought up the two million jobs saved (while pretending the 5+ million now on Extended Unemployment Compensation program don’t exist). There is no way to sell the stimulus crap, but he is wasting time trying.

He is angry, frustrated and defensive.

Update: Obama asked how long should we wait to address issues? Simple answer: until you are out of office.

And since when is Communist China the model for America’s free market???

Disaster.

Update: The man is a dupe – there is no overwhelming evidence on of global warming. He is going to look an idiot as the global warming con becomes exposed over this year.

Update: LJStrata and DJStrata noticed a lot of dems (the First Lady included) wore purple, supposedly to signal their allegiance to independents? How lame.

Update: Speaking of fixing our education system and strengthening math skills, did anyone catch the fact that the average savings on mortgage payments was $1500, which I think is close to the average monthly payment. So how is it the the average savings would mean now payments????

Math skills and liberalism don’t mix.

Update: When was the last time a President was laughed at in a SOTU? Obama really screwed up by claiming the fiscal freeze idiocy would not take effect until next GFY – ‘when the economy is stronger’. Of course, the joke on the President was everyone knows laws passed this year can only effect the next year’s budgets.

The guy is being laughed at for making ridiculous statements. Think that is helping his credibility?

Update: Between the dour lead in and the fact our president is being laughed at by incredulous lawmakers is sad. I still respect the office, but to see this is such a disaster.

Another faux pax is was the comment a ‘century’ of campaign laws were overturned when the USSC overturned the decade’s old McCain-Fiengold restrictions on free speech.

Truly sad night.

Final Update: I like the idea that the GOP response is in a room with an audience, the VA state house. It adds more emotion to the response. They need to cut back on the pomp, but it is better than someone alone in a room with klieg lights.

I was afraid it was just me, simply being a critical, rational Republican.

This is the worst speech I’ve heard for SOTU.

    There is no dignity.

    SJR,

    It is horrible.

Michelle and the Dums were wearing purple to appeal to independents? How lame these people are, always handing out some silly symbolism. If they really wanted to appeal to independents, how about trotting out some rational policies instead of Crap and Charade and ObamaDontCare?
Why don’t they paint their faces purple, too? That won’t make them more appealing to me but at least I’ll get a good laugh.

I wonder how may liberals are getting the sinking feeling in their gut that says, “Three more years, and this is as good as it gets”

    Three more years…

I have to ask…has the DNC decided to change the nomination process for 2012 so that their caucuses would not cast the vote to the wrong person?

    Have they eliminated the superdelegates?

If they still have superdelegates…will they vote for Obama in 2012?

I just read that Hillary Clinton decided to skip the SOTU. Ya think Hillary is now trying to wean herself from Obama?

Hate to think that Obama will wake up tomorrow to learn how bad his SOTU was.

Good thing that I watched only ten minutes before I switched to an Inspector Lynley DVD. Much more interesting.

I think I will find out what ABStodder and CKrauthammer had to say later.

It’s always good to have a moral lecture……just in case someone forgot to support our military, or equal rights, or the poor, or the people in Haiti, or a neighbor. It’s good to know we are good people. So now what is new and how is it going on the economic front and how are jobs doing?

It is also good to know that he is bringing home our guys from Iraq, just like he said he would. Wait a little minute, who arranged for our guys to come home. AND did we come home in defeat or did we win? Never mind, that’s not important.

Didn’t like it much, I think I’ve heard it all before. Also it sounded like 2 different people wrote it, or at least 2 different mines. The nice guy, and the sarcastic guy.

I was going to watch this and then I decided that a root canal would probably be more fun. So I ignored it completely.

Thanks for doing the dirty work so I don’t have to.

When this guy was elected I thought he would be a disaster for this country. I will have to admit that he has surpassed my expectations. I had thought that it would take a few years to recover from his dreck but now I think it might take at least a decade, maybe two. It certainly will take three or four or more to pay off his deficit.

Could we have done any better if we had elected a pimp off the street? Come to think of it that might have been this guy’s calling if someone had not taken him up and groomed him for the presidency. According to his bio that is where he was headed. It is a wonder to me that he doesn’t leave a pool of oil every where he goes he is such a snake oil salesman. I hate what he is doing to this country and I hate the democrats for letting him.

There has been talk that he is going for immigration reform soon . That was in the cards all along. The dems need the illegal vote to stay in office. No immigration reform, no dem majority. Besides, Harry needs them in Nevada.

One of the biggest moments I think, and one that goes down in history is when he called out the Supreme Court, who is sitting right there in front of him..and tells a huge lie. Judge Alito even mouths to himself, that isn’t true. I do not believe in the history of this country a president has ever done that. It’s shameful and shows this president truly does have distain for our constitution. He just challenged the Executive power and the Judicial. I believe this was the most outrageous thing he has done thus far.. . well maybe not, there are so many it is hard to weigh each. He doesn’t even mention the recent terrorist attempts on the US. He never mentioned Gitmo, KSM trial, maybe 5 minutes of the war against Islamist, in which he refuses to even name. This is a sad night, our military that may or may not have even bothered to watch should be scratching their heads. Where was the acknowledgement of those who have died to free Iraqis, Afghanis, and he dares talk about liberty while he sat there and did shit when Iranian thugs were murdering and beating their own citizens in the streets? Does this man suffer from a mental illness, or is it me?

Sorry, missed the SOTU…you would have been better off watching Spongebob reruns!

I suppose the bad/good news is that the POTUS will be staying the course…meaning a rotten economy, legislation the people don’t want…which will lead to an electoral massacre in November. And count on a LOT more Dem retirements in the months to come…

  12. owl says:

One of the strangest SOTU ever……….silence, wild Dim cheering a dead horse and laughter at his unbelievable statements. Unreal.

Sarah was the best commentator tonight. She nailed him.

Agree the Pugs should cut back on the pomp but it was the best they have delivered. Very good on the terrorist’s rights under O.

  13. AJStrata says:

Owl, it was bizarre to say the least.

CJ, Yeah, the USSC slam was noted on all the networks and completely erupted the CNN panels along the usual lines.

Worse still, not noting the two heroes in the hall. Unforgivable.

  14. ivehadit says:

By calling out the Supreme Court as he did, one can only think of it being an attempt at intimidation. One branch of the government should not be threatening another. What part of co-equal does this guy not understand? Imho, he understands plenty, based on his writings. He just doesn’t respect our Constitution, imho, or America.

The Supreme Court Justices Roberts, Thomas, Alito, Scalia are waaaay too classy to respond…and they will DEFINITELY NOT be intimidated by this community organizer, imho.

It sounded more like a campaign speech than a SOTU Address to me. Sad.

About an hour after the end of his State of the Union address, in which he called for an end to the partisan conflict that has plagued his first year in office, President Obama sent out a political fundraising appeal through his permanent campaign organization, Organizing for America.

“I just finished delivering my first State of the Union address,” Obama wrote in the letter, which was headlined “I cannot do it alone.” “I set out an urgent plan for restoring economic security for struggling middle class families. This is my top priority, but I cannot do it alone — and that’s why I’m writing to you now.”

Obama discussed his economic proposals and also vowed not to walk away from the goal of passing a national health care bill. And then the pitch. “I need your voice. I need your passion,” he concluded. “Can you help fuel our fight for the middle class with a monthly donation of $15 or more?”

Oh crap. Pelosi is now saying that she does have the votes to pass Obamacare (and will fix things in reconciliation process). And, Senator Ben Nelson infers that it “sounds like a plan”.

The SEIU that bragged about having bought and paid for Obama’s candidacy? Notice how the SEIU’s agenda in the link above seems to mesh with Obama’s agenda.

And that was back in October of last year.
