Liberals Finally Getting It

Published by at 3:40 pm under All General Discussions

The leftwing in this nation is slowly realizing no one finds them credible anymore. I guess after 25 years of crying “Wolf!” and predicting dire results from conservative policies which never actually transpire, it shouldn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out the left’s reputation is so shot it is now an example of what not to be. Case in point:

There is a widespread, tacit assumption that no matter how apathetic and inattentive Americans become, there is still some line which they will not allow the Government to cross when it comes to exceeding or abusing the limits of government power. That assumption has taken a huge beating over the last four years, and is now in serious doubt.

Ahhh, a glimmer of comprehension! But notice how deluding ones self with inaccuracies and falsehoods allow the liberal mind to still hold back reality

Americans have sat by more or less passively by while this Administration detained American citizens and threw them into a military prison without charges being brought, without a trial, and without even allowing them access to a lawyer.

Emphasis mine. This would be people like Johnie Walker Lindh, Jose Padilla and Moussoui. Enemy combatants who decided to fight against America.

Many are basically indifferent to revelations that the Bush Administration is eavesdropping on American citizens in secret and with no oversight of any kind.

These poor citizens this liberal speaks of are communicating with terrorists targets overseas. Since the terrorist target is a legal target of surveillance, so are the contacts in the US communicating with the target. This happens in the US all the time, where the target has a warrant, but all those who communicate with them are the victims of ‘warrantless surveillance’. Legal warrantless surveillance. The oversight statement demonstrates a serious lack of basic knowledge. Oversight on this is provided by the NSA Inspector General, the NSA managers, The Department of Justice and the Comgress. It is reviewed every 45 days by the administration, and all evidence used to provide probable cause for a FISA warrant is reviewed by the Chief FISA Judge.

This poor lad needs to believe in his fantasy awefully badly if he is to miss all this oversight. It covers all three branches!

And worst of all, a sizable portion of the population is acquiescing to the fact that we have a President who was just discovered breaking the law, and rather than expressing shame or remorse once he was caught, has vowed to continue doing it based on the theory that he has the right to violate the law and that it’s for our own good.

Translation: I am so gullible I bought into the ‘breaking the law’ meme and I don’t understand why everyone is not as gullible as me???

I think this illustrates why the liberals are going to be shunned in this country for decades to come. It is bad enough to be wrong on so many issues so many times over so long a period of time.

But to be insufferably arrogant while wallowing in their ignorance is too much. Once – OK. Twice – we all need to learn the hard way.

A quarter of a century!?

    You’ll find this amusing

the left side of the blog-o-sphere is all a twiter, yet they haven’t bothered to look at the dates

They never learn, and this fact about them is the gift that keeps on giving.

    AJ–

Some of those on the far left make violent threats when they can’t argue with ideas. It is not just Islamists that are the problem, in my opinion.

Here is a thread on a site that defends the radical professor Ward Churchill.

The poster argued with them so they told the poster to “eat a gun.”

three ELF terrorists have just been arrested in Auburn California. They were getting ready to bomb some US Forest Service buildings. (FOX NEWS)

I link over to the Greenwald article, then read some of the comments and left a rebuttal. They the liberals still aren’t getting it. They are so wrapped up in their phony superiority that they will not consider alternate views. To them, us, the non-liberals are just a bunch of slack-eyed ignorant hill-billys. Oh well, hopefully at least some will grow up out of their adolescent ways.

    Elf Arrests

    http://www.sacbee.com/content/news/story/14072506p-14903124c.html
“FBI agents said they arrested three people Friday who were plotting to blow up unspecified power generation plants, cell phone towers and U.S. Forest Service facilities.
The three, who were taken into custody in a shopping center parking lot in north Auburn, planned the attacks on behalf of the Earth Liberation Front, an eco-terrorist group….Authorities say that acts of eco-terrorism by ELF sympathizers began in Placer County on Dec. 27, 2004, when three unexploded bombs and graffiti were discovered at homes under construction in Lincoln.

On Jan. 12, 2005, five unexploded bombs were found at an office building under construction on Auburn Folsom Road in Auburn. A month later, an unexploded bomb was found at the front entrance of Auburn’s historic courthouse and another at the back door of the Department of Motor Vehicles in the Placer County seat.

Seven bombs, believed to be the work of the ELF, ignited at an apartment complex under construction in the Amador County town of Sutter Creek on Feb. 7.

I know that Nazi analogies are frowned upon, but this liberal’s blaming his fellow citizens for not seeing the light reminds me of Hitler’s attitude in his last days: none of the ruin and death he initiated was his fault–it was the German peoples’ fault. They were the ones who failed by not being dedicated enough, by not realizing what a genius their leader really was.

This attitude is really prevelant in academia, where the self-appointed “vanguard of the revolution” sees fit to lecture the lower (read: “anyone who doesn’t have a PhD like me”) classes on “equality”. Yet they themselves are among the most cut-throat social climbers know to mankind.

Jeff gets to post at AJ’s and attempt to usurp readers with a sneaky way of calling AJ readers fascist ? In a “I don’t mean to be so unoriginal, but if the shoe fits” way.

Interesting since one of his favorite blog sites to comment on, firedoglake.blogspot.com routinely, immediately delete comments within seconds of their posting, if they do not subscribe or are merely slightly adverse to her (Jane Hamsher’s) thoughts. Despite the fact that gal eats razor blades for breakfast, it is pathetic that she sits in waiting, at the ready to delete comments the second she posts…does she have anyone else BUT her commenters’?, anyways…the creepier (or fraudulent, you pick) part is she proclaims to be a liberal, open to ideas.

So you know where Jeff is coming from.

    Love it.

    mea culpa

JEFF IS NOT THE JEFF I was suspecting and I truly, whole-heartedly apologize for being reactionary and for the misguided assumption AND misreading his comment.

I thought it was an off-handed way of accusing AJ of being sheepish by being coy, which is the way a “jeff” I’ve seen does. I WAS WRONG.

I do not however take back my comment about the dragon women who brings blight on our culture with her breathe.

I just hope this Jeff and AJ forgive me.

I am just tired of liberals always being in charge of the uncomfortable challenges (in the workplace, at dinner you name it) while conservatives quietly take it and so I jumped the gun. I will try harder NOT to do that anymore.

Mary Mapes, thanks for your quick ‘second look,’ you had me going for a few minutes.

Worse, as I finished reading your first post about (the wrong) Jeff, and based on familiarity with your usual spot-on posts, I concluded that I must’ve been mistaken to think Jeff’s comment an innocent observation.

I was still trying to figure out what the “tell” was when I saw your “mea culpa.” 🙂

Al Gore is going to gove a speech about how our freedom is going down the drain because of Bush.

Now here is the thing I wonder about. See where you are supposed to RSVP to someone named “Fenton”?

“EDITOR’S NOTE: Members of the media planning to attend the event or join the listen-in conference call must RSVP by email to Sdaga@fenton.com

There is a public relations company called Fenton and Fenton.

    Is that them?

This is a long time ago, but Fenton and Fenton were connected with some on the left a few years ago who were very anti-war.

Maybe it was Ben and Jerry? I am not sure.

It was someone who made a commercial on TV.
    Did Wilson do that?

Does anyone know if Gore is connected to Fenton and Fenton.
