Obamacare Losing Support Across The Board, 1/3rd of Dems

Published by at 2:45 pm under Obamacare

Rasmussen shows a 14 point shift in support for Obamacare in only the last month, from  a +5% in June to a -9% in late July. But what is even more telling is the partisan breakdown:

There is a huge partisan divide on the health care plan. Sixty-eight percent (68%) of Democrats favor it. However, the plan is opposed by 80% of Republicans and 60% of those not affiliated with either major party.

Obama has lost 60% of the independents and 1/3rd of Democrats. If these were votes he would lose in an historic landslide. And that is what has those Democrats running from Obamnacare right now. Very few Democrats in Congress could survive an election with these numbers facing them.

It seems it is either save Obamacare or save the Democrat majorities in Congress (or at least minimize the damage). The Dems get a chance to demonstrate some triage – they can only save one side of the equation right now. Do they want to see another Bill Clinton ride high while they all spend years in the minority? Fool me once ….

Of course support for the bill is crashing, people are having a chance to READ it.

Imagine an “End Of Life” order comes down from the government. Yes, the government will be able to issue an “End Of Life” ORDER according to this bill. Now what if it is a mistake? When if it was meant for the unconscious patient with the same name in a hospital of the same name in a different city? But never fear … the government NEVER makes paperwork errors! And all government data entry is always 100% perfect every time! And here you are in an induced coma recovering from an auto accident when the End Of Life ORDER comes in to the hospital and the doctor on shift carries it out.

I do not EVER under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES want “insurance” where the carrier has the power to “terminate” me when it is no longer in their financial interest to keep me alive. That is what this bill is. Cost savings by KILLING people when they become a burden.

Krauthammer says Obama will get something passed. It might well be watered down and harmless, but something will have to pass. If not Obama is toast. So says Krauthammer.

  5. KauaiBoy says:

For a look at the future of government run health care just go visit your local state prison and ask the inmates how they like it. But remember if it passes it will ease the unemployment problem as the need for doctors and nurses will expand and like all other government programs, mediocrity will rule the day. Hey if you can repair a jet engine surely you can learn how to remove a spleen. Isn’t this guy just brilliant, we earthlings don’t have the brain capacity to see how all this fits together.

  6. WWS says:

Terrye, if he will back off his demand for a public plan and adopt some of the cost cutting, free market reforms he could easily get something passed – but he will have to stand up to the left wing of his party to do that. The left will be enraged if there is no public plan, but paying for the public plan is what’s killing the thing because the country simply can’t afford it.

I don’t think he has the guts to do that – I think underneath it all, he is an extraordinarily weak leader unable to stand up to anyone whose support he needs. But time will tell.

I saw this post at Hot Air. I guess this is what Guy was talking about when he said something about people having a heart.

    WWS:

I don’t know what he will do. It depends on how badly he wants something to pass.

That link on my 5:32 post did not work. Let me try again, it is an interesting story, about Medicare Advantage.

  10. WWS says:

I think he’s the most hard core, far left idealogue ever to sit in the oval office, and that he will be absolutely unwilling to ever throw the far left overboard, which is what he would have to do in order to succeed.

Ironically, what made Bill Clinton successful was that deep down he never cared about anyone other than himself. He would throw anyone and anything overboard as long as he could come out ahead, and that made him willing to work with the Republican Congress. Obama is different, Obama is the True Believer, and Obama will choose failure over compromise.

At least that is my prediction.

  11. max says:

Some just don’t get it. The hard Left, not just Obama will pull out all stops to get their agenda pass, even if it means losing the House. This is their best chance to get it done. Sarah Palin understand this about the LEFT & has the will to stand up against them, to take them on & that is why they want to destroy her.

Change of topic; but two interesting polls:

Who do “moderate Republicans” like in the GOP field? (I’ll give you a clue. It starts with “P” and ends with “alin”.

If the Democrats manage to shove this thing down our throats, is there anyway it can be done away with?

  15. crosspatch says:

Something I started on another blog but thought I might expand on here:

    P=Patient, D=Doctor

    P: Hello, who are you?
D: I am your doctor and I am here to carry out your end of life order.
P: I never consented to any “end of life” order!
D: Yes you did, I have the paperwork right here.
P: Well, you must be mistaken, I did no such thing. In any case, note that I have changed my mind.
D: There is no “changed mind” box on the form, I am afraid I will have to carry out the order as you requested.
P: But I never requested it!
D: Yes you did, I have it right here. It also says you suffer from dementia and are delusional ….

  16. crosspatch says:

When the law allows the government to begin killing people for whatever reason, there are going to be mistakes made. There are going to be instances of the wrong person being killed. Maybe a patient dies of natural causes and someone else is moved into the room, doctor on shift sees the order and carries it out on the wrong person. Whatever. Mistakes WILL be made. Heck, we have jury trials and still end up killing the wrong person sometimes. You think government or hospital paperwork is always 100% accurate? Think people don’t make mistakes? Wrong room, wrong bed, similar name … misspelled name … fake order .. whatever.

When you start allowing hospitals to kill people according to government paperwork, mistakes are going to be made. We have to ask ourselves if we are prepared for that and if the “benefit” outweighs the potential tragedy.

  17. ph2ll says:

Cross has the correct focus of this whole argument. The ability of our gov.’t to kill us in the name of health/money/orders/younameit.

When your gov.’t can kill you in the name of health then we are truly doomed as a nation. I don’t want it nor did I vote for it if I voted for BO. (He campaigned as a moderate). I suspect many others whom did vote for BO feel the same now as he is exposed as a Socialist in Emperor’s Clothes for all of us to see.

  18. owl says:

I am watching The Evil Won attacking Pugs and then when called on it, saying he is not blaming them. Yeah.

I say Evil because that is exactly what this killing field of the old and sick involves. So some of the Pugs did not like Bush’s compassion. Please contrast his attitude towards the old and sick with this horrible thing in the WH. Nope. I am through thinking of that thing as my President. Anyone that intends to pay on the backs of the disabled, old and sick is Evil.

Anyone understand how Hitler loaded those people on trains without a fight? Same group supported this thing with votes.

He is once again MOANING about what he inherited. All this debt is Bush’s fault.

Pug Congress should be out in force pointing out that he could not have inherited Bush’s mess because the Congress has been in the hands of DIMS since 2006.

Now he points out that AARP has endorsed this. Yep. Loading onto the trains.
