Dems Bash Candidate For Risking Life On Battlefield

Published by at 6:51 pm under All General Discussions,Iraq

The liberal democrats who are the core of the Democrat party are truly a strange breed. How else does one respond to a press release which claims a Republican candidate’s service on the battle fields of Iraq is not serving is constituents or his nation?

Arizona Republican State Representative Jonathan Paton was deployed with his Army Reserve Intelligence Unit to Iraq a few weeks ago. And the local Democrat Party is using that AGAINST him, fretting that Paton might miss part of the 2007 legislative session because of his service to the nation.

“Paton has been absent for most of the campaign due to his recent voluntary Army Reserve service in Iraq and he has missed all candidate debates/forums for the General Election,” complained Pima County Democrat Party Chairwoman Donna Branch-Gilby in a press release on Friday.

“Southern Arizona needs a State Representative who can guarantee that he will show up for the job and represent his constituents,” chirped in some guy named Chalie Salaz in the release. “The voters of Arizona should not pay the price for an ‘absentee’ legislator.”

“Absentee’? The man is risking is life for this nation and this is the thanks he gets? The Dems always complain Reps do not have to sacrifice personally for Iraq (which is wrong in many situations), so how is it they can say this Rep is derelict? Those whacky Dems have done it again – made themselves look like total idiots.

AJ – if that’s a link in the article, it isn’t working. I hope you have a link ’cause someone needs some letters over this…

This story reminded me of the Story out this week by Pat Tillman’s brother. I know he is hurt that he lost his brother, but I well remember what Pat Tillman said when he joined the Army. He did it because he wanted to give something back to his country. The reasons Pat gave was enough to stir the emotions of almost everyone. Certainly everyone that loves this country. Pat Tillman died, as so many before him have, to preserve the right and freedom for his brother to say whatever he wanted to say. It is so unfortunate that he chose to use that right to do something that Pat, I believe, would be ashamed and sorrowed to hear.

There are so many Politicians that truly are not looking out for the interests of their constituents (see most Dems) it is great to see one such as Paton serve his country. What better way could he serve his constitutients?

If Rep. Paton were a Democrat, I’m almost certain there would be NO complaints.

  6. Nelle says:

Isn’t it just like a Democrat to think that the activities of a state legislator are too important to be set aside for a few months to take up arms and defend the country?
Just think, he could be in AZ, returning insults and negativity, instead of preserving their freedom to indulge in it.

  7. Ken says:

For Enforcement should be alerted, he has little right to misrepresent
Pat Tillman, who grew to despise Bush and the war and admire Chomsky.

  8. Limerick says:

    Ken

Ok….time to vent. VENT. You make me sick. You are WORSE then the man on the enemies side who decides to fight. That man has conviction, however misguided, but he has the balls to CHOOSE SIDES.

My son fights IN this war. I want him to come home safe. He wants to come home safe. If he doesn’t it will not be because he was WRONG in what he was doing. It would be because he dared to TRY. He has the guts to look at the issues, come to a conclusion, and ACT. Not sit around and chew it over and over and over. All you do is complain, and hide, and snipe like the COWARD you are.

I never forget that the skin I have in this game I used to tuck into bed every night. I never forget grounding his ass for punching out the neighbor kid. I never forget the first time I tossed the car keys to him. I never forget standing there at the airport, on Thanksgiving Day, seeing him off to finish his second tour in a very dark and scary place. Every day. Every day. Every friggin day. Scanning the news. Constantly checking e-mail. Hoping I never see that green sedan parked at the curb. Every day FLYING THE FLAG WHO’S IDEALS HE BELIEVES SO STRONGLY IN.

Sure I’m scared. So what! My son is doing what HE CHOSE TO BE HIS DUTY. It is his HONOR. He has never once waivered from it. He willingly fights this fight for those of us who are unable AND THOSE WHO ARE UNWILLING. He doesn’t care if it is what YOU THINK is right. He KNOWS it is right. Sometimes the pride I have in him makes me want to burst. Sometimes the fear I have for him makes me want to cry. Neither my pride nor my fear matter. What matters is understanding that for my son his COUNTRY comes before self. I respect that and love him all the more for it. I thank God Almighty for him, and all those men and women, who love this country so dearly. If you want to sit on your ass and complain that’s your business, but if you want TO LOOSE THIS WAR TO PROVE YOU’RE RIGHT then you ARE the enemy.

If you can’t understand that, I don’t care, and I am damn sure that he doesn’t care what the hell you think either. So here’s you, tick, NOW GET OFF!

  9. Ken says:

Limerick must also resent Cheney who sat out the Vietnam War, impregnating his beloved and bragging he had “other priorities.”

He’s a prime player in this one. I am not of draft, or volunteer
    age.

I want your son to come home safe too, which is why I have
sported “Support our troops, bring ’em home” regalia since
    2003.

I realize the war in unwinnable, rather than “wanting to lose.”

I have heard many vets say both that they understand and do not
resent the part of the public which is and has been opposed to
the war. Many even agree with us and you give no hint of
whether your son respects them. You must also understand that
many of the troops who do not believe in the war do not perceive that they are OBJECTIVELY there protecting us. Some
doubtlessly agree with intelligence reports that point to an
INCREASED DANGER FOR AMERICA AT HOME as a result
    of their occupation.

  10. The Macker says:

    Ken,
70% of servicemen in Iraq agree with the effort and 100% are giving their all. We have a constitutional and consensual government that sets policy and is privy to the best information.

It was precisely the dissenters and their captive media that lost the Viet Nam War by their unremitting criticism of everything and by their “Brownshirt” tactics.

Limerick, I salute you, your son and all our men and women in uniform ,who are selflessly protecting our country despite those in our midst that havn’t yet recognized the danger.

Maybe you have a more current poll, Macker? The February poll
revealed very few soldiers share the Bush vision. Seems like December 2006 was as much time as they wished to give it.

The Vietnam War revisionism doesn’t wash either. The US could have stayed years longer, lost many more troops and still lost the
war by merely being viewed as the outsider opposing Vietnamese
    “national communism.”

  12. Limerick says:

    thanks Macker……

Ken can only point to others ideas. He has none of his own. I’m done with him(to his relief). His understanding of Viet Nam comes straight from his professors mouths and his understanding of this war comes straight from TV.

Cheers all. Keep the faith. Polish the cannon!

  13. The Macker says:

    “Vietnam War revisionism”- Not
General Giap said after the War that they were prepared to settle and that they thought they had lost the Tet Offensive, which they did. But Walter Cronkite said otherwise, so they persisted.

Re Tillman, his reaction is understandable, given his great loss and the mixed messages at home.

  14. For Enforcement says:

Ken, so they have chickensh*t pukes in France also.

First of all you have the gall to link to a WashPost article, the flagship of the ‘Progressive MSM’.

At no time does it say any of those military people are serving in Iraq. And did you see they are trying to get 2000 signatures? How many are serving in the military right now? They didn’t say, but maybe they could get Chickensh*t Gen Wesley Clark to sign also.
You said you are not of draft age, or volunteer age, well I realize they may still be drafting folks over there, but here in America they ALL volunteer, BECAUSE THEY WANT TO. I volunteered because I wanted to. Serving in the Military service of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is one of the highest honors a person can acheive.
You are not capable of belittling the service of Limericks son or any other son or daughter. I’m sure that they would consider it an honor for a chicken sh*t puke like you to criticize them.
I strongly resent you belittling Pat Tillman’s service. I don’t recall in his statement that he ever said he despised Pres. Bush and I challenge you to prove that he did, or admit that you are just a piss ant, very small liar. Admire Chomsky, only a Progressive (formerly called communist) would ever say they admired that sub human.
I don’t like to resort to calling names Ken, but quite frankly, you should be happy that someone elevates you up to the status of Chicken Sh*t. For you that is a real honor. I only hope you are a man of your word and never leave your homeland, if you do, head on over to Iran where your buddies are.

Why is it that I always feel like I have to wash my keyboard after visiting a thread where Ken has commented? I once fired a guy like him because he had the knack for ruining even the brightest day.

  16. For Enforcement says:

Spook, let me be the one to apologize to everyone but Ken. Sorry but when he starts openly lying and demeaning the service of our fine young military people, it just gets a little much.
I’m gonna just try to ignore him in the future. Nothing he says has any real importance, he seems to just be extremely misguided, but then there are people that just can’t help but be sucked in by the Progressive. They seem to not be able to think for themselves.

  17. Bill in AZ says:

Ken, my wife is still in the military and spent time overseas defending your right to be a public idiot. Go for it doooooooood – others have paid for it for you…

Ken is the epitome of what this quote is about…

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and
degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that
nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for
which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his
own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of
being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. (John Stuart Mill)

  18. Barbara says:

Ken always searches for obscure quotes and polls from discredited, leftist, obscure, people to back up his theories. I cannot figure out why he is so adamantly against the Iraq war. He says he is not of the age to fight then why is he so concerned about those who are. After all, they volunteered and are still volunteering. He seems strangely bitter about any number of things, not least of all the federal government no matter who is in power. I can’t help but think he is perhaps mentally dranged, and why he comes to this site when he disagrees with every thing, and I mean everthing, everybody else is for. If we said white, he would say black and bring up cock-a-manny theories to back up his stance. Do you suppose he is a college kid on the debating team who is practicing his art? Or maybe he is just a stupid guy who likes to argue.

  19. Retired Spook says:

Or maybe he is just a stupid guy….

Barbara, I think you nailed it, heh, heh.
