MA Special Election Results

It’s over – Brown is the next Senator of Massachusetts!

It is We The People’s Day!!!!

UPDATE: Tweets reporting Coakley CONCEDES!!!

Update T+80 min: 69% reporting and Brown still leads 53-46%

Update T+70 min: 65% 60% reporting, Brown up by 7, Patrick Ruffini calls it for BROWN!

Update T+60 min: Gardner, another bell weather location, has Brown up 56-42% with 100% reporting. That is 2-3 of three bell weathers now in Brown’s column.

Update T+ 55 min: 40% reporting and Brown is ahead 53-46%. Seems Coakley and the Dem lost a lot of indies and Dems. Plan to soak this up a bit right now as we wait for the earthquake call for Brown.

Update T+50 min: Fitchburg with 50% reporting 57-41% Brown. Everyone is ready to call this for Brown – yeah!

Update T+45 min: 21% reporting and Brown is doing well 53-46%. Coakley is just not doing well enough in her core areas.

Update T+40 min: Fitchburg was a bell weather location which was +15% before the election. with 17% reporting it is tracking exactly the same with Brown ahead 55-43%. It that holds then it would indicate a big win for Brown.

Update T+36 min: 13% reporting, Brown 53%, Coakley 46%, Kennedy 1%

Update T+35 min: Looks like Brown is doing better than required. Just saw this tweet:”11% reporting: Brown (R) 143,950 votes, 53%; Coakley (D) 126,037 votes, 46%”

Update T+ 30 min: 8% reporting and Brown ahead 52-47% still. I am no expert, but but each is doing well in their respective areas percentage wise, so it is all down to who turned out with numbers.

Update T+ 20 min: 4% reporting Brown ahead 52-47%. Expect volatility.

Update T+ 10min: Drudge is splashing Rasmussen claiming Brown took “22% of Dems” – Coakley is toastly.

Update T+ 5min: Turnout seems to be higher outside the cities (Brown country) than in (Coakley).

Update T+3 minutes: No results, but without exit polls and any returns it will be a bit slow to call this race – unless it is a Brown crush.

Update T-5 minutes: Drudge site claims turn out was 50%!  If Brown wins DC will be shook to its rotten core.

Update T-13 minutes: Shots of Coakley campaign site dead, no one there. Shots of Brown location, packed and partying. Just connecting the dots … – end update

T-30 minutes.  Here is a good primer (from the left) on what to look for since there are no exit polls for this race. Results can be found here – (no idea on the delay with the networks or if the site will stay up).

I plant to follow Fox just to listen to the master Michael Barone. A good pre-result read is this missive from Stu Rothenberg.

I have been seeing tweets that Brown is ahead in key areas like Worcerter and maybe even Boston. No idea on their credibility, but they had no links. Be back in 30 minutes.

Fox News and Wasserman called for Brown. Race must be over by now. Lou Dobbs won’t call until 10 pm EST.

We’re on the edge of mathematical impossibility here!

    YEEEHAAAAAWWW!!!!

    I just had to say that… :^)

    Congratulations to US Senator Brown!

  7. Redteam says:

Howard Dean just blamed it on George Bush

  8. lurker9876 says:

i never understood how MA could re-elect Ted over and over and over. John Kerry, too.

    Indeed, Mary Jo’s Revenge.

That makes it harder for another member of the Kennedy family to get elected after this for quite some time.

“Conan! What is best in life?”

“To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women!”

I confess that I am reading Kos tonight and watching MSNBC for that very reason!

  10. Redteam says:

I even watched a little MSNBC tonight just to see who would be the first to slit their wrists.

  14. archtop says:

I’m not watching any TV (I only get basic cable service), so thanks AJ, RedTeam, etc. for keeping me informed on what they’re saying on cable…

CAN YOU HEAR US NOW MR. OBAMA!

  16. Mike M. says:

And now, I’m prepared to drink a toast.

To Senator Brown, who may well have pulled off the upset of the decade.

Now, first thing tomorrow morning, it’s back to work. Having just enough votes to keep things from getting worse is NOT having the votes to make things better. There’s about $500 billion in porkulus spending (most of it timed to save Obama’s political hide) to pull back.

  17. archtop says:

    OK one more…

    V I C T O R Y !

  18. Redteam says:

Dems on focus group that voted for Brown said it was to send a message that they didn’t want health care shoved down their throats.

  19. lurker9876 says:

No way that ACORN and SEIU can try to overturn like they did with Al Franken.

  20. Terrye says:

    He did it!!!

I just heard Juan Williams say that he thought the Democrats would find a way to cram health care down our throats, he also seemed to think that was a good idea. It never ceases to amaze me how liberals can convince themselves that the rest of us will end up thanking them for bankrupting the country.
