MA Special Election Results

Published by at 7:29 pm under 2010 Elections,All General Discussions

It’s over – Brown is the next Senator of Massachusetts!

It is We The People’s Day!!!!

UPDATE: Tweets reporting Coakley CONCEDES!!!

Update T+80 min: 69% reporting and Brown still leads 53-46%

Update T+70 min: 65% 60% reporting, Brown up by 7, Patrick Ruffini calls it for BROWN!

Update T+60 min: Gardner, another bell weather location, has Brown up 56-42% with 100% reporting. That is 2-3 of three bell weathers now in Brown’s column.

Update T+ 55 min: 40% reporting and Brown is ahead 53-46%. Seems Coakley and the Dem lost a lot of indies and Dems. Plan to soak this up a bit right now as we wait for the earthquake call for Brown.

Update T+50 min: Fitchburg with 50% reporting 57-41% Brown. Everyone is ready to call this for Brown – yeah!

Update T+45 min: 21% reporting and Brown is doing well 53-46%. Coakley is just not doing well enough in her core areas.

Update T+40 min: Fitchburg was a bell weather location which was +15% before the election. with 17% reporting it is tracking exactly the same with Brown ahead 55-43%. It that holds then it would indicate a big win for Brown.

Update T+36 min: 13% reporting, Brown 53%, Coakley 46%, Kennedy 1%

Update T+35 min: Looks like Brown is doing better than required. Just saw this tweet:”11% reporting: Brown (R) 143,950 votes, 53%; Coakley (D) 126,037 votes, 46%”

Update T+ 30 min: 8% reporting and Brown ahead 52-47% still. I am no expert, but but each is doing well in their respective areas percentage wise, so it is all down to who turned out with numbers.

Update T+ 20 min: 4% reporting Brown ahead 52-47%. Expect volatility.

Update T+ 10min: Drudge is splashing Rasmussen claiming Brown took “22% of Dems” – Coakley is toastly.

Update T+ 5min: Turnout seems to be higher outside the cities (Brown country) than in (Coakley).

Update T+3 minutes: No results, but without exit polls and any returns it will be a bit slow to call this race – unless it is a Brown crush.

Update T-5 minutes: Drudge site claims turn out was 50%!  If Brown wins DC will be shook to its rotten core.

Update T-13 minutes: Shots of Coakley campaign site dead, no one there. Shots of Brown location, packed and partying. Just connecting the dots … – end update

T-30 minutes.  Here is a good primer (from the left) on what to look for since there are no exit polls for this race. Results can be found here – (no idea on the delay with the networks or if the site will stay up).

I plant to follow Fox just to listen to the master Michael Barone. A good pre-result read is this missive from Stu Rothenberg.

I have been seeing tweets that Brown is ahead in key areas like Worcerter and maybe even Boston. No idea on their credibility, but they had no links. Be back in 30 minutes.

Congrats PATRIOTS! Juan Williams on FOX Hannity insisting the Dems and Obama in particular will double down on ramming healthcare. Everything else off the table and Obama will insist on passing Healthcare!

    Dumb
I almost hope they do the repubs will take over the House and Senate if they do this, no seat will be safe. The lyin Bluedogs who ran as conservatives will be gone and a lot more with them!

Ya think Obama has become a lame duck tonight? And he knows it.

  3. the botnet says:

A.J., the botnet will not ever doubt you again. At least until the botnet has doubts.

Great call. Happy dance. Stompy boots.

  4. lurker9876 says:

Yeah, you called it right this time.

  5. Redteam says:

The country has reason to rejoice!!! The Obama admin is a dead duck.. They now understand that. The Dems are trying to hold up their heads, while wanting to slit their wrists.

We all now have reason to be optimistic, until today, their was little hope.

    Long live the democratic republic….

I wonder if GM is now going to see a run on GMC Canyon trucks…they’re the new standard issue campaign vehicles for the GOP!

  7. smh10 says:

Thanks for being such a optimist in respect to this race.

It has helped keep the faith of those of us who agree that this is our America.

What a terrific night for the United States.

I wonder if GM is now going to see a run on GMC Canyon trucks…

Absolutely not!!! they’re now manufactured by the UAW and guaranteed by the Obama admin. don’t stand much of a chance..

  9. Redteam says:

Just an aside…. I’ve practically always driven a GM product… always…. never again til the UAW is out….

  10. WWS says:

    Just for you, Botnet!

A toast – to a new world tomorrow!

  12. Frogg1 says:

AJ, the “new world tomorrow” has already started and it isn’t even midnight:

Webb, D-Va.: It was a referendum

It was the Scott heard ’round the political world.

The election of Republican Scott Brown to the Senate was a referendum on Obamacare — according to Democratic Senator Jim Webb of Virginia.

Via the liberal Talking Points Memo, Webb said: “In many ways the campaign in Massachusetts became a referendum not only on health care reform but also on the openness and integrity of our government process. It is vital that we restore the respect of the American people in our system of government and in our leaders. To that end, I believe it would only be fair and prudent that we suspend further votes on health care legislation until Senator-elect Brown is seated.”

  13. Neo says:

Over at MSDNC, Maddow and Kos took this election outcome as a sign that Democrats must now pass HCR even if it means “reconciliation”

Let’s see … Republican running as 41th vote against HCR in “bluest” state wins .. it’s a sign the “blue” team must pass HCR by all means necessary. Talk about dense. To call these people stupid would be an insult to stupid people.

Guess maybe I will get my wish to have the Democrats complete their “lemmings” death march as they kamikaze their way into the history books.

  14. Frogg1 says:

    Barney Frank follows Webb’s lead:

Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank, a strong supporter of the health care legislation, said Brown’s victory means Congress will have to “start over on health care.” He said he will vote against any bill rushed to the floor before Brown can be sworn in.

I congratulate you for your prognosis and analysis of this race.

    Doubling Down On DUMB!
    Stuck On Stupid!

Obamas’ Administration is trying to convince themselves that if they pass this redistributive ripoff of 75% of the American People and Nationalization of the insurance industry their liberal, far left constituents and freebee grubbin non productive society members will carry them on in their power grab!

We will see if they are right. The attitude is rather than give an individual a hand up, teach them how to fish, in their quest for raw power, they want to make them beholden, slaves on the liberal plantation!

This is how they have treated the African Americans for years!
Community Organizing on a National scale. Fascism!

I would like to know what Zogby was looking at, calling Coakley by 2% on Monday and then going to 1% by Tuesday. Allowing personal political beliefs to interfere with your job as a pollster cannot be a good career move. The hour between 8:30 and 9:30 was exceptionally long…or was it just me. After it became apparent that Brown had it wrapped, I went to BSNBC, just to enjoy the sight of “grown-ups” looking suicidal. Anyone who calls that a NEWS network is nuts.
