Tipping Points & Individual Freedom
It is boneheaded liberal thinking like this:
With the passage of Obamacare, the government slapped the managed care industry with a plethora of new must-do’s: For example, requiring that the insurers cover young adults until they’re 26 and banning them from denying coverage for anyone with preexisting conditions; mandating coverage of immunizations, and getting rid of lifetime limits.
To add all these new requirements, then in the same breath to tell insurers that they cannot raise premiums, is like telling General Motors that the cars it produces need to have side air bags, hybrid engines and state-of-the-art sound systems, but they can’t raise a single sticker price.
Leads to brilliant grassroot ideas like this:
The same people driving the lawsuits that seek to dismantle the Obama administration’s health care overhaul have set their sights on an even bigger target: a constitutional amendment that would allow a vote of the states to overturn any act of Congress.
Under the proposed “repeal amendment,” any federal law or regulation could be repealed if the legislatures of two-thirds of the states voted to do so.
Count me in on this one. We The People can and will take back the country from the foolish ideologues. What I like about this solution is a replacement answer is not required, just a huge barrier to stupid solutions. The states will reject unfunded and damaging mandates, and the folks in DC will be forced to redo their work until something acceptable is produced. Checks and balances – nice.

Disturbing News On The Terrorism Front
Tis the season for the bizarre and disturbing it seems. First, the head of our national security efforts demonstrates how Dianne Sawyer would be better at his job:
As if that is not disturbing enough, a terrorism unit in Tennessee has its sites on the ACLU and an event meant to promote inclusion during the holiday season.
The Fusion Center’s Internet map is part of a national map maintained by globalincendentmap.com. Information is provided by agencies across the U.S. It includes various blinking icons. The map’s label originally was titled Terrorism Events and Other Suspicious Activity.
Near Nashville, a blinking hexagon-shaped symbol with an exclamation point read “ACLU cautions TN schools about ‘observing one religious holiday.'” The hexagon symbol, when clicked on, originally stated “suspicious activity.” But it later was changed to say “general nonincident terrorism news” after inquiries by reporters.
The map’s label also was changed. It now says Open Source News Reports. An icon near Chattanooga features a symbol of a person along with a question mark.
All the while, there are serious threats afoot. Like the attempt in Atlanta to smuggle unauthorized men into an airport’s restricted areas near the planes:
Agencies conducting a counter-terrorism sweep at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport may have made their most significant find so far.
Agents did not find any explosives but said they did find several suspicious men in the back of a truck who would have had inside access to a cargo area at the airport. The area is not connected to passenger terminals.
Undocumented workers or a terrorist unit? And then there is this disturbing new angle of attack – our food source:
According to a recent CBS News report, a key intelligence source has confirmed the threat is credible.
This latest Al Qaeda terror strategy is being called “Operation Hemorrhage”. It’s designed to attack the enemy with many smaller, yet effective acts, essentially bleeding us to death.
The CBS News report says terrorist now plan to spread cyanide on food at buffets. So, CBS 21 News came to the largest buffet in our area to see how they are keeping you safe.
I have been expecting the more subtle forms of attacks for years now. I recall a trip to Disney World we took a few years back where I kept noticing the various threat options (let’s just say water is an interesting transmission agent). I realized then large numbers of us our exposed every day and hour of the week.
While we are patting down our grandparents due to the benefits of modern medicine (and hip replacements), we seem to be distracted and forgetting why there is airport security. The process has become such a mindless bureaucracy that guns are getting on airplanes. The myth of global warming and CO2 as a poison is given the same priority on Napalitano’s and Brenner’s agenda as suicide bombers (follow the links).
We clearly don’t have America’s best or brightest on the job here. Instead of monitoring the internet for threats against America, this gang is trying to tilt the internet traffic to benefit a political party or view. Simply insane

Holder’s Epiphany

Attorney General Eric Holder has seen the enemy – and surprisingly it is not President George Bush for once:
“I think that what is most alarming to me is the totality of what we see, the attorney general said. “Whether it is an attempt to bomb the New York City subway system, an attempt to bring down an airplane over Detroit, an attempt to set off a bomb in Times Square … I think that gives us a sense of the breadth of the challenges that we face, and the kinds of things that our enemy is trying to do.”
Holder says many of these converts to al Qaeda have something in common: a link to radical cleric Anwar Al Awlaki, an American citizen himself.
Well, it only took the man two years to get a clue. Question is, will he and the Obama administration focus in on this threat, or will they be distracted by their war on CO2?

The Audacity Of Dopes
After 2 long and brutal years of liberals in ascendancy humanity has now come face to face with the audacity of dopes. And I am not trying to be too cute with my terms – but deadly serious. How many screw ups does a liberal need to embrace before said liberal realizes he has no clue what he is doing? When do people caught up in the liberal babble wake up from their stupor and realize it was all a dumb and naive fantasy? How much damage must be racked up before we finally wake up to the realization that feel-good advancement produces incompetent dopes and not saviors of all mankind?
Gaia seems to testing this question for the ages with the coming 3 or so decades of brutal global climate cooling. YEt simply watching this year’s fiasco is a stark example of the difference between science and fantasy. As the debunked global warming predictions fall to mother nature (and the traditional scientific methods of quality, measured and published uncertainty, transparency and balanced debate) the world is experiencing what it means to screw up on a grand and painful scale. As global warming rationals wilt down to nothing more than the bleat ‘because we should do something‘, we realize all the confident predictions of runaway global warming were coming from the modern day version of those doctors who bled their patients in a desperate and misguided attempt to do ‘something‘.
Just like using leeches to suck the life blood out of sick people was the epitome of a dumb act, the plan to turn to wimpy energy sources like solar and wind to provide our energy needs is getting a brutal reality check. People right now are re-learning why you want diesel powered trucks and trains, and why gas powered automobiles and homes, as well as coal powered power plants, are life saving energy methods. Who wants to brave this winter in a weak electric car, or rely on the Sun alone to heat their home, or pay extra for your hospital to get its power and heat from oil or coal or gas? Who amongst us is still naive enough to throw away our energy and growing economies on the unproven fantasy that CO2 is causing rampant global warming?
I am going to use a great post at Watt’s Up With That to set the stage some amazing current weather events. Hopefully in a manner that exposes how the global warming alarmists are in reality audacious and dangerous dopes.
Met Office, 25 September 2008: The Met Office forecast for the coming winter suggests it is, once again, likely to be milder than average. It is also likely that the coming winter will be drier than last year.
Reality Check: Winter of 2008/09 Coldest Winter For A Decade
…
Met Office, 25 February 2009: Peter Stott, Climate Scientist at the Met Office, said: “Despite the cold winter this year, the trend to milder and wetter winters is expected to continue, with snow and frost becoming less of a feature in the future.
“The famously cold winter of 1962/63 is now expected to occur about once every 1,000 years or more, compared with approximately every 100 to 200 years before 1850.”
Reality Check: Winter Of 2009/10 Coldest Winter For Over 30 Years
…
Daily Express, 28 October 2010: IT’S a prediction that means this may be time to dig out the snow chains and thermal underwear. The Met Office, using data generated by a £33million supercomputer, claims Britain can stop worrying about a big freeze this year because we could be in for a milder winter than in past years… The new figures, which show a 60 per cent to 80 per cent chance of warmer-than-average temperatures this winter, were ridiculed last night by independent forecasters. The latest data comes in the form of a December to February temperature map on the Met Office’s website.
Reality Check: December 2010 “Almost Certain” To Be Coldest Since Records Began
From the worst winter in a decade, to the worst winter in 30 years, to the worst winter in a century – all the while the MET dopes continued to predict global warming is coming. No, its not. For 15 years it has not been coming. And all indications are it will not show up for decades. Remember this audacious dopiness from 2000?
Britain’s winter ends tomorrow with further indications of a striking environmental change: snow is starting to disappear from our lives.
Sledges, snowmen, snowballs and the excitement of waking to find that the stuff has settled outside are all a rapidly diminishing part of Britain’s culture, as warmer winters – which scientists are attributing to global climate change – produce not only fewer white Christmases, but fewer white Januaries and Februaries.
What is coming is the classic cyclic change in climate that occurs on a scale of generations. A change where we learn to live through the kind of cold our ancestors had to survive. What is coming is a world were we need more than solar and wind energy (which do not work in these kinds of conditions).
One million passengers were due to pass through Heathrow alone this week and with warnings of further bad weather in the next few days, some travellers whose flights have been cancelled were told they faced waits of up to five days.
Thousands of Eurostar passengers joined giant queues and were forced to wait for up to seven hours today as the Channel Tunnel rail link was thrown into disarray.
Police were forced to turn away some passengers after the freezing weather conditions ruined journeys at London’s St Pancras station as speed restrictions and cancellations affected the service.
About 6,000 travellers endured freezing temperatures as queues snaked through the main terminal and out into the street stretching to an estimated length of 1.2 miles.
The US is also seeing record cold, as did the southern hemisphere this last winter that just ended a few months ago. This year to year pattern is not a blip – it is reality. A reality the audacious dopes on the left refused to recognize and actually worked to censor. What would have this all been like if we had only electric cars that freeze up and had limited power to plow their way through these conditions? How far does an electric car’s distance shrink when it is battling the elements like this? How much are people willing to give up their gas, oil or coal powered heat and electricity now?
Think people, in the face of no global warming showing up anywhere, do we really want to just do ‘something’? Or do we want to actually sit down and think about the ramifications of bleeding the energy sources that drive our economies and lives, all in the name of faulty science and reckless predictions?
Addendum: Looks like winter is not over in Australia after all.

Incompetence Due To Distraction
Why did the underwear bomber nearly take out an entire plane full of people over Detroit last year on Christmas Day? Even after there were numerous warning signs from Yemen and Saudi Arabia, and his father came to the US embassy to relay his own concerns that his son was going to attempt something very dangerous, how was it our nation’s security apparatus missed this attack until it was too late?
How did Major Hassan enter Ft Hood and kill and maim numerous people after being the focus of two Joint terrorism task forces investigating his contacts with a known Yemen radical, US born Anwar al-Awlaki? How can you be in contact with a major terrorist figure and then have a terrorism task force blindly shutdown? What was so important attention had to be moved away from Hassan – and 12 dead people the result?
How did the Times Square bomber slip by unnoticed has he planted a deadly bomb in the center of busy NY City? Here was another person who once was under the scrutiny of a joint terrorism task force with family ties back to the Taliban of Pakistan? Why were there no eyes on this man and his travels?
How could the Obama administration miss such obvious and clear signs of danger?
Through complete and utter distraction with fantasy issues having nothing to do with saving American from deadly terrorist attack:
At an all-day White House conference on “environmental justice,” Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced that her department is creating a new task force to battle the effects of climate change on domestic security operations.
…
Napolitano explained that the task force was charged with “identifying and assessing the impact that climate change could have on the missions and operations of the Department of Homeland Security.”
The woman is a complete moron. The adminstration is rife with morons.
If Team Obama needs to understand the impact of WEATHER on operations they need to bone up on an agency called NOAA, and the various military weather units that can let them all know what the conditions will be like on the ground anywhere in the world. Maybe the task force is just needed to educate team Obama on what the federal government does!
This is, in fact, not the first time team Obama has let liberal ideology blind it to its prime responsibility to protect this nation and its people. In mid 2009 Obama’s National Intelligence Strategy came out and it too had a whole section focused on the weather- since global climate change is the LONG TERM change in global climate and not something we will experience in the four years this lame group is in office. They don’t even understand the difference between weather impacting operations and terrorists rampaging through our streets trying to kill us.
Homeland Security is a big enough job with overwhelming challenges as it is. Pretending to play God with the weather seems to be more an indication this group in power is clueless, and is simply running around trying to find something to do right (instead of actually knowing what it is they are supposed to do). Obama may actually go down in history as the worst one term president of all time. Seriously.

The Land Of Fruits & Nuts
I just don’t have the words to express the global stupidity of this:
California hasn’t learned from the failure of the Chicago Climate Exchange this year, when a ton of Carbon traded for a mere 5 cents. Nobody wanted to buy it even at that ridiculously low price. But, like a zombie, carbon trading rises again in brain dead broken California.
“It’s the official starting gun for California and for Western regional carbon markets,” Singer said. “It means we get to make this business a growing reality.”
Central to the law, which goes into effect in 2012, is a “cap and trade” system designed to limit the amount of carbon from the state’s 500 largest emitters – mostly power plants, energy companies and heavy industry.
CA missed the memo about holes and why to not keep digging. Of course, the tools running this gas exchange will fleece millions from the state in what is clearly a legal and obvious con operation. Your tax dollars down the drain.

It’s A Dessert Topping, It’s A Fruit Juice, It’s A Floor Wax – It Must Be Regulated!
We really are witnessing the insane end to big government. I never thought I would see this much over reach in my life time, but even worse is the lame rationale being peddled by the arrogant ignorant on the left. Take government run health care for example:
In a federal courtroom Thursday, Judge Roger Vinson questioned how far Congress’s authority would go if it can legally require nearly all Americans to purchase health insurance.
Could they “mandate everybody has to buy a certain amount of broccoli?” Vinson questioned, comparing the positive impact both could have on health.
…
“It’s not shoes. It’s not broccoli,” said Ian Gershengorn, arguing for the federal government. “Health insurance is a product that is a financing mechanism.”
It’s a financing mechanism? In other words it is a source of money for liberals to play God with. It’s also been called a tax. At least this was closer to honest than most admissions. It’s not like the government wants to regulate cookies and twinkies – oh, wait. They do want to regulate cookies and twinkies.
Sadly for the government lawyer, the judge has a point. When you regulate bake sales, whether toys can come with Happy Meals or what kind of Christmas greetings are allowed, the answer is clear. regulating how much broccoli you consume is just around the leftist corner. Time to cut off the funds to these foolish nags. No more free rides for these ridiculous ideas.

Dumbest Lawsuit Evah
The left truly is insane. Who else would champion a lawsuit that basically cries out: “Mom has no damn backbone“:
The lawsuit alleges that “McDonald’s exploits very young California children and harms their health by advertising unhealthy Happy Meals with toys directly to them” and that “children 8 years old and younger do not have the cognitive skills and the developmental maturity to understand the persuasive intent of marketing and advertising.”
In a call with reporters, Monet Parham, a Sacramento mother of two, said she was bringing the case because of the constant requests for McDonald’s Happy Meals.
Good lord, what a moron. Her kids want Happy Meals and so she is suing McDonalds to shut them up. Just let that one settle in for a bit.
…
…
Since the only person forcing this woman to do something is her child, she should sue her child – not McDonalds. When the child cries for ice cream for breakfast, is she going to sue ice cream makers? When the child wants a fancy new car, is she going to sue Jaguar?
If this suit evens sees a court room we will know it is past time to fix our legal system, so petulant brats on the left who have zero tolerance for diversity can’t use the law to stamp out things that bother them in the world. Our legal system should not be a play ground for the left’s myriad of social neuroses.

Nevada Must Be Proud Of Their Senator!

Senator Reid attempted to bully through a last gasp of liberal madness this week in his omnibus porkulus bill. Engorged with old earmarks his staff put in under the ruse to pretend GOP senators were just as pork addicted as the left, the bill was an affront to the American people, who had sent a clear message to DC – stop spending and cut back to the essentials.
Seems DC finally has at least learned to pay some attention to We The People:
Nearly $1.3 trillion in unfinished budget work was packed into the spending measure, including $158 billion for military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. But Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid gave up on the bill Thursday after several Republicans who had been thinking of voting for it pulled back their support.
Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky had thrown his weight against the bill in recent days, saying it was “unbelievable” that Democrats would try to muscle through in the days before Christmas legislation that usually takes months to debate.
“Just a few weeks after the voters told us they don’t want us rushing major pieces of complicated, costly, far-reaching legislation through Congress, we get this,” McConnell said. “This is no way to legislate.”
The turn of events was a major victory for earmark opponents like Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Tom Coburn, R-Okla., who for years have been steamrolled by the old-school members of the powerful Appropriations Committee.
The spending barons saw their power ebb in the wake of midterm elections that delivered major gains for Republicans – with considerable help from anti-spending tea party activists.
Change is coming – it is just not what Obama, the liberal democrats or the pathetic bureaucracy thought was coming. Instead of changing into high gear spending, massive deficits and stupid government solutions this nation wants to reverse a century of bureaucratic bloat. We can live well without the bureaucrats, who really do nothing but stuff their pockets with our tax money. The myth of living without CONSTANT government intervention is busted.
And now the American people demand government be cut back down to size and get out of our daily lives.
