Hogan And Fitzgerald Meeting

Published by at 4:23 pm under All General Discussions,Plame Game

CNN is reporting a confirmed report that Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald and Judge Hogan met in chambers for 45 minutes after the Grand Jury convened. Looks like Fitzgerald may be looking for an extension after all. No word on what was discussed though. 16:22 Eastern.

  1. I’ve never heard before that Fitzgerald was a cruel man, so maybe this isn’t true. Saints preserve us from an extension.

Lots of gossipy reporting in this story from the NY SUN. Details the Fitz visit to Judge Hogan and the ensuing zoo of reporters.

    I do like this Rag!!!

Someone just suggested, maybe Fitz got stiffed on idictments? One more theory to ponder.

    Mary

Who and where? I have been watching Fitzgerald’s body language and he does not look to happy right now.

Unfortunately it was just a commenter who was throwing it out there like me.

I will say it again, when a Special Prosecutor runs a GJ for 2 years, he’s gotta come away with something.
I don’t care who you are, 2 years and hundreds of thousands of $$$ later, you do not leave the well dry.

Dem, Repub, Lib, or Indie, Fitz has to get something.

  7. AJStrata says:

    Mary,

No problem – it just makes a bit of sense.

  8. Lesley says:

If Patrick Fitzgerald should indict the administration on Civil Rights violations (as has been floated about in the media), it could be one of those never-ending cases with appeal upon appeal. Ugh, what a GJ decision that could be.

  9. mary mapes says:

I am just not buying this civil rights thing. Hell, Wilson has earned a whole lotta money in speaking fees calling this administration a bunch of lying a-hole bastards…how violated it that? I think it’s just another myth floated out to muddy the waters. Notice it is Wilson himself resorting to this nonsense, clinging to a straw.

If Fitzgerald were looking to extend his investigation, could it be that he has exhausted all portions pertaining to the administration and is shifting to hone in on the other direction now?

  10. mary mapes says:

    Better articulated…

    Is it possible he is

    A) illustrating that he fully and completely investigated the initial referral –WH Leak

    B) informed the Judge the scope has now shifted in another direction

I find this to a strange statement:

“Two lawyers familiar with the activities said the interviews involved basic fact-checking and did not appear to plow new ground.”

What lawyers would be familiar with any aspect, intent, or work product of the interviews of Wilson neighbors conducted by the FBI at the behest of Fitzgerald?

  12. tgharris says:

I’ve got a better question: after this period of time, what kind of basic fact checking should be required?

    Here comes CBS again!

“CBS News chief White House correspondent John Roberts reports that Fitzgerald was not asking for a grand jury extension during his meeting with the federal judge, leaving people to wonder whether he was seeking sealed indictments, or something else.

Roberts reports that investigators talked to Plame’s neighbors, including Marc Lefkowitz who was interviewed Monday night.

“They said, ‘Did you know Valerie Plame’s identity?’ and I said, ‘No,'” Lefkowitz said.

Two lawyers familiar with the activities said the interviews involved basic fact-checking and did not appear to plow new ground.

Fitzgerald may want to establish that Plame had carefully protected her CIA identity, part of the process of determining whether the disclosure of her name amounted to a crime. “

My my, how John Roberts knows these things with such certainty! How the MSM is framing the Wilsons, and implicating Cheney.

I must add here what the Great “Presidential Advisor” David Gergen says:

“Former presidential adviser David Gergen told CBS News that “Washington is on a knife-edge today over the possibility of indictments.” He said the possible charges raise major issues for the administration.

“It’s not that the abuse of power here is anything like Watergate or Iran-Contra even,” said Gergen, now the director of Harvard’s Center For Public Leadership. “Rather it is, if indictments come, they may be of the people closest to the president and vice president of the United States. And they will re-open the wounds of Iraq, and people will ask the question, if indictments come, were we led into Iraq by criminal means? “

This pissant has gotten more mileage out of his tenure in the WH then Jimmy Carter.
