Pakistan’s Wake Up Call – No Harboring Terrorists!

If the fools in Pakistan’s new government actually thought the world would be OK with ‘peace’ treaties with militants on their soil which promised Pakistan would not be attacked but other nations like Afghanistan and the US could be attacked they were bigger fools than I thought.  Either as allies of the terrorists or victims of terrorist extortion, these kinds of idiotic arrangements might have passed the laugh tests of the liberal media and liberal elites prior to 9-11, but they are not going to get a ‘bye’ after 7 years of the war on terror.

We clearly picked the right leaders when we allied with Prime Minister Maliki of Iraq, and Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan.  They have stood by their commitments to the US through thick and thin.  And we also were on the right path with President Musharraf of Pakistan who allowed for US forces to strike well established terrorist enclaves inside Pakistan.

And the reason I applaud these leaders is they have stuck with the fight against Islamo Fascists terrorism, even as weak-kneed and short sighted liberals in the US tried to surrender the war against al-Qaeda and runaway.  These leaders stood firm (which makes them better choices than many of our liberal US ‘leaders’ who have tried to ‘lead’ the retreat for years).

Today Hamid Karzai took a stand that deserves America’s applause and support.  He told Pakistan in no uncertain terms that if groups taking sanctuary on Pakistan soil attacked Afghanistan, Afghanistan would retaliate without any hesitance:

Karzai told journalists in Kabul that as long as Pakistan-based insurgents attack Afghanistan, destroy its infrastructure, and kill its children, the Afghan government equally has the right to target Taliban leaders and bases inside Pakistan.

“Afghanistan has the right of self defense,” he said. “When [the Taliban] cross the territory from Pakistan to come and kill Afghans and to kill coalition troops, it exactly gives us the right to go back and do the same.”

Personal Warning

Karzai cited the names of several Pakistani Taliban leaders and warned that they could be targeted in their homes.

“Baitullah Mahsud should know that we will go after him now and hit him in his house,” Karzai said. “Fazlullah should know the same that we will go after him and hit him in his house and in his bases. And the other fellow, Mullah Omar of Pakistan, should know the same. This is a two-way road in this case and Afghans are good in the two-way road journey. We will complete the journey and we will get them and we will defeat them and we will avenge all that they have done in Afghanistan for the past so many years.”

However, Karzai made it clear that Afghanistan has no desire to fight against the people of Pakistan. And he argued that any Afghan efforts against the Pakistan-based Taliban would help liberate Pashtuns in Pakistan from the tyranny of terrorism.

Good for Karzai!  And maybe there are signs the Pakistan clowns who think the world would fall for their silly charade are starting to wake up:

he Pakistani government has modified, under US pressure, a proposed peace pact with militants in the country’s restive northwest to prevent cross-border activities on the frontier with Afghanistan, a media report Sunday said. The revised draft says the Mehsud tribe, including the Taliban, would not violate Pakistani and Islamic laws “within the country, across the border and abroad”, Dawn reported, in an article titled “‘US pressure’ forces changes in pact draft”.

“We the Mehsud tribe, including the Taliban, will not violate the laws of Islam and Pakistan within the country, across the border and abroad,” a carefully structured new clause in the proposed peace agreement said.

I would add that it should be stated (or clearly understood by all) that violating this promise would allow military retribution from Pakistan or outside forces.  In essence, violating this promise would remove all Pakistani sovereign protections.
