Run Condi, Run!

Published by at 6:48 pm under 2008 Elections,All General Discussions

Man, if I had one wish this year it would be for Condi Rice to run as VP (and hopefully President in 2012). I find her to be one of the sharpest people in DC, and totally not run by polls or talking heads. She is a lot like Bush, but clearly with her own priorities and views. And today there were hints my wish may come true:

ABCNews’ Mary Bruce Reports: Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is actively courting the Vice Presidential nomination, according to Republican Strategist Dan Senor. “Condi Rice has been actively, actually in recent weeks, campaigning for this,” Senor said this morning on “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.”

According to Senor, Rice has been cozying up to the Republican elite. “There’s this ritual in Washington, the Americans for Tax Reform, which is headed by Grover Norquist, he holds a weekly meeting of conservative leaders, about 100, 150 people, sort of inside, chattering, class types,” Senor explained. “They all typically get briefings from political conservative leaders. Ten days ago, they had an interesting visit. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The first time a Secretary of State has visited the Wednesday Meeting.”

If I have to support McCain (not my first choice) I will. But put Condi on the ticket and the future looks bright indeed. Moreover, I cannot wait to show up the Dems who have an African American battling with a woman as figurines showcasing the supposed vaunted liberal lead on minorities. What sweet justice it would be to see the two dems carving each other up while blacks and women fight for their place in history, and with Condi you can get both slots at once.

Condi represents the American dream, and that shining city on the hill Reagan spoke so much about. A McCain-Rice ticket would be something for the history books, and good Pelosi and Reid serious heart burn along the way.

I think, having followed her stint in the State Dept. closely that she would be a disaster not only as a nominee but as a VP/POTUS. I too had high hopes for her in the beginning and seeing the job she did as Provost in the academic world felt that she might be able to do something with the disaster we call the State Dept. Alas, it was not to be and it’s as bad as it ever was or worse.

Failed to give due import to warnings of al Qaeda strike.
Failed to promptly rein in Israel’s carpet bombing assault on Lebanon, incurring resentment throughout the Arab world.
Failed at peace negotiations between Pals and Israelis.
helped lie about false WMD possession by Saddam.
pushed false intelligence,as did Powell, after assuring Saddam was “boxed in” and a threat to no one several times
    in 2001, pre 9/11.
Has already been rightly dissed by Putin.

    Some VP material.

Of course Truth is wrong on all counts! I’m with you A.J. I have a few minor reservations but I can live with them…And I’ve said since I was old enough to understand…the first woman and/or the first black president would be a Republican. They are the only party that takes women and blacks seriously. They’re not being used by their party to get power they are seen as the power in the party.

Maybe I’ll finally get the chance to see if Ive been right for the last 30 years!

The Dems would tear Condi apart. They hate black republicans. What a sad state of affairs!

Condi Rice has had incompetence follow her everywhere she has gone. I’m sorry, but the the first time such accusations were made, it was easy to write off as election year politics. After that, the SAME issues, have followed here into an entirely new position in the state dept.

At some point, the benfit of the doubt stops.

You have got to be kidding. Considering McCain’s age there is more than a 50/50 chance his veep will become president before his term is up. I know she is supposed to be an expert on Russian deplomacy but she sure isn’t much of anything the way she has handled the Middle East. Everybody knows those ARabs aren’t going to give an inch, so she has pushed Israel to the brink of disaster to appease the unappeasable. Every time Israel does something to retaliate and/or end the constant rocket bombardment on it’s cities, Condi runs over there and tells them to stop. And who’s idea was it for the US to give all that money to those Palestineans? Doesn’t anyone in Washington DC have any sense? Those chickens are sure to come home to roost. The surest way to make those diehard terrorists sit up and take notice is to stop all aid to them. Once they know they are responsible for their own welfare, like feeding themselves and their families, they won’t have time to be thinking up mischief. Our country is bankrucpt. It’s time we stopped mortgaging our children’s future to help people who aren’t willing to help themselves. If Israel could grow food in the area which was returned to the Palestineans, they can. And why should we care if their children starve? They strap bombs on them and send them to blow other people up. If they dont’ care anything about their children why should we? Why are we feeding our future enemies who are being trained from infancy to hate and destroy us? Since Condi is the one running around over there giving out goodies I assume she is the one who is advising the President that appeasement is the way to handle that situation. Those peopel in the Middle East have made their living for centuries by killing, robbing, and stealing from other people. Paying them off in hopes they will behave like civilized people has never worked and it encourages them to continure their antisocial behavior because they know it will keep the payoffs coming. They have got to be laughing up their sleeves at us. The have said over and over that they intend to destroy Israel and them come after us. As for Condi and the way she has handled that crisis, somebody should put that genie back in a bottle and secure the stopper.

I have already decided that I am going to have to hold my nose to vote for McCain because both of the Democrats are really the worser of the evils. But If McCain puts Condi on the ticket, I may just throw up my hands and sit it out. McCain is closer to being a Democrat than he is a Republican. Putting an incompetent on the ticket because she is a woman and black just won’t cut it when it comes to those of us who realize that if we are going to survive in this world we need the very best leadership we can get.

Those of you who have tried to hijack the Republican Party because you couldn’t stomach the far left anti Americanism in your Democart Party should wake up and realize that making the Republican Party into a carbon copy of the old Dem Party ain’t going to cut it. There is no way the real Republicans are going to go along with it. If you are going to join us, thta’s fine. But if you think you’re going to come in and take over, you are going to have a fight on your hands.

    Well,
Much to agree with in Momdear’s comments. I’ll bet her domestic policy views are less than conservative also. If so, she would be a poor choice for VP, as that would make her the heir for 2012.

Identity politics is not what we are about.

  10. 75 says:

Careful Momdear….you risk being labeled a “purist” if you don’t toe the McCain line in this forum. All conservatives must check their Rush badges at the door.

    😉

(yes, A.J….that was just a little shot across your bow)

  11. AJStrata says:

    75,

If you right wingers keep it up you will stay in political exile – pure and powerless. How that for a return shot?

  12. 75 says:

I expected nothing less from you AJ!

Most of the Democrats in the South are black. Most of the Republicans are white. The cold hard facts are the white people in the South are not going to vote for any ticket with a black on it. Considering the people in the South were singled out for abuse in both the first reconstruction and the second reconstruction ,which is still on going, you can’t blame them for feeling animosity toward those they feel is the cause of their woes. If southerners sit it out or vote for a 3rd pary candidate, the Dems win. Surely McCain is not so dumb that he doesn’t know he has to win the southern states. If he is dumb enough to load his ticket with baggage that is unacceptable to a large number of voters, he deserves to lose.
