Merry Christmas 2007

Published by at 10:15 am under All General Discussions

We here at the Strata-Sphere want to wish everyone a Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas. We hope your coming days will be filled with the cheer and warmth of family and friends. I want to thank everyone who takes time out of their busy days to come by and read my ramblings and share their thoughts and take part in the great debates of our day. I want to also send my thanks and prayers to all those who are out there day and night sacrificing to protect this nation – we all owe you an enormous debt of gratitude which we can never truly be repaid. Thanks to all of you we have a lot to be thankful for this year and every year.

btw, off topic, does anyone know what could be wrong with my computer regarding this: it jumps back pages when i am trying to post especially when i try to use the shift button to capitalize something…

Merry Christmas to all! Not only do I appreciate reading your posts, AJStrata, but I also enjoy reading the comments made by several posters, such as MerlinOS2 (amazing he’s still using OS/2!), katie, terrye, ivehadit, daleinatlanta, and many others. I end up learning more from reading AJStrata’s and all of your posts than I write such terrible posts!

    Keep up the great work!

Hey Lurker there is good reason for that
Merlin was the code name for OS/2 before it was released
I can still do things with it that Windows and Linux only dream about.
Rexx scripts that are out of this world
2TB file sizes with resizeable partitions on the fly and dynamic resizing of disk storage pools.

I would have to peek at a table of the scan codes for the keyboard but perhaps it’s too many liquids streamed through the nose or just wear and tear on the keyboard itself.

Suggest swapping out and see if the problem moves between machines.

Thanks Merlin! It seems to be working fine today…who knows.

And Lurker, we love your posts, too!

What makes it even more fun is that usb keyboards have a whole different set of keyboard scan codes compared to the older PC and Infrared keyboards.

In any event intermittent problems are usually due to the cross grid putting out a flipped bit which is latched by the single chip microcomputer embedded in the keyboard itself giving a wrong read.

Early pc type keyboards generally used an 8048 processor to do all the conversions of shifted, escaped and alted combos plus were programmable for keyboard repeat rates and initial delays and lots of other stuff like multi key rollover.
