How Long Did CBS News Hold Terror Attack Story?

Published by at 7:27 am under All General Discussions

Just a question for the liberal media lapdogs – how ling did CBS sit on the story that Al Qaeda was planning to attack Europe? We all know stories like this take time. So did they hold it until after the election – hoping to help the Democrats?

In separate interviews with Arab and other intelligence sources, CBS News has been told that the warnings come from interrogations of al Qaeda suspects who recently left Afghanistan and Pakistan.

n detailed interviews with Arab diplomats, intelligence sources and Pakistani and western officials, Arab members have been leaving Afghanistan for the past six months while handing over its militant activities in Afghanistan to that country’s resurgent Taliban movement.

The new information helps to shed fresh light on a key mystery at the heart of al Qaeda’s decision, first reported by CBS News in September, to withdraw its Arab members, fighters and logisticians from Afghanistan.

The movement of Al Qaeda to spread out to Europe to position for their attacks has been going on for a long time. CBS News first reported on the activity in Sept. So why not alert people before hand so they could be on the look out for suspicious behavior? One thing is clear. The Arabs left Afghanistan because there was resolution by the West to see it through – Al Qaeda was giving up. But Iraq, where Dems gave hope to the terrorists with their calls to surrender, that front still held hope. So many went there.

CBS wouldn’t attempt to influence an election now would they? (note, sarcasm)

Al-queda is all over the EU. They don’t need to deploy , the muslim ghettos have provided them with plenty of recruits. All these have trained in Pakistan and Afganistan previously. They are ready to go as soon as they receive orders. All the news of al- queda arriving in Saudi Arabia means the have given up in Afganistan and probably Iraq contrary to recent tapes. All that’s left in Afganistan is the Taliban, a local fascist movement. All this indicates the Iraq war is being won.

If they make EU their next front should we fight for them? I think only England. Maybe we should send Jon Carry to France. They deserve each other.

Couric, in her piece, opened it by saying the reporter had been working on the story for ‘weeks’…….I almost spit my beer across the room. Wish I had the tape, but that is how she opened the story last night.

This goes directly to my theory that al Queda has devolved their long term plans away from big attacks in America. Rather, they will relentlessly attack our allies until their people “pull a Madrid” and abandon the war on terror. Worse, they will blame the U.S. for stirring the hornet nest.

The enemy have figured out that attacks like Pearl and 9/11 were counterproductive—inviting direct military response. They now safely assume that Americans won’t approve military action after attacks on London, Paris, Sydney, Moscow, etc.

In the end—with America fully isolated—that’s when the big attacks will come to our shores. That’s why it’s counterproductive to celebrate the absence of a major homeland attack. Indirect attacks can and will be far more dangerous, in that they don’t awaken the giant.

It does not surprise me at all that the MSM would sit on a story like this prior to the election. They totally ignored the Dem corruption stories as well, while dwelling on Rep corruption only – this hurt the Reps in the midterms almost as much as Iraq.

The one item that terrorists fail to realize is that although the Dems have a majority in Congress they can do precious little to block the President in Iraq or in the GWOT without Rep assistance – no matter what Murtha said – the President is not without power here. The Dems cannot over-ride his veto in either chamber and the Reps can deny cloture on any bill in the Senate that comes from the House effectively killing it. That only takes 40 votes. I wouldn’t expect a quick retreat by the USA if I were Al Qaeda and Iran.

Europe has been in trouble for many years by allowing their former
colonines to have dual citizenships which allowed a tremendous influx of people to move into their countries without assimlating these people into their culture. I remember when Bridgette Bardot years ago stated that the French have lost their identity, and she was branded a right wing nut. (which is a laugh because her stance on almost every political idea is far left including being a PETA star)
The real problem for us in the U.S.A. is we forgot what made this nation great which is we had all the natural resources and did nor rely on other nations, unfortuntaly the the left has led this country down a very bad path by not allowing us to to drill for new oil or allowing the use of clean burning coal and lets not forget nuclear energy (europe gets 90 plus percent of their electricty via nuclear energy)
The Dems and the MSM want this country to go backwards and will do everything they can to do so including holding back stories that will only benfit the left.

Hey, maybe if they’d broke the story earlier one of your election predictions would have been right.

Sadly, we are in harms way because AJ’s predictions were not the outcome…

My children and grandchildren will never forget what the American voter perpetrated on them, 11/7/06.

Look I have traveled all of the Eu,they are not our friends or allies. They trash us any opportunity they have. If they sink as far as I am concerned the only one we should help is England. At the UN all they do is undermine American policy. Chirac will look so parisian with a towel around his head….

As far as CBS, look at Walace (who is Jewish) and interviews the moron of Iran. He is giving this guy a venue to spew his hatred towards America and Israel. CBS does not care about our country they care about left wing journalism. I have not watch TV news in more than 10 years. I do not trust so why waste my time.

I had a conversation this morning with a neighbor kid. He’s a good kid, one that military recruiters have talent-spotted–they want him badly.

He knows I’m a former Marine. He asked me about what would be the best branch for him to join–he wants to be a trigger-puller, and is trying to decide whether to go Army or Marines.

I advised him to do neither, because this country cannot be counted on to support its defenders to victory. If it’s a short, victorious war, you’re great. If it’s not short, it must be because it’s not victorious (whether or not it really is) and it gets in the way of learning the dish about Britney Spears’ divorce, you’re eventually going to be shunned as we shunned Vietnam veterans. No doubt we will see remakes of “The Deer Hunter” and “Black Sunday” with the Bruce Dern character being an Iraq war veteran who has gone ’round the bend (although the villains in “Black Sunday” will probably be Christian fundamentalists employed by Halliburton).

America’s defenders deserve better than the America they defend.

    Who above hates America?

Sadly, we are in harms way because AJ’s predictions were not the outcome…

I see. It’s AJ’s outlandish predictions that were the problem, not the Republican congress’s performance.

My children and grandchildren will never forget what the American voter perpetrated on them, 11/7/06.

Yes, it’s the American voters that are the problem, not the failures of the previous congress to actually keep their commitments to those voters.

    Good afternoon Christoph.
Your crowing is pretty funny. Like other sites the lefties sound pretty up beat. World events are moving rapidly and no one is going to be smiling. Instead of taxes, and immigration you all need to be deciding what kind of plan is going to work. I would strongly suggest you check out Ohlmerts comments today, yesterday, last week. I suggest you check out AQs and Ahmendinnerjacket’s comments over the last 10 days.

All this crowing on your side, and all this eating crow on our side is getting us exactly nowhere. World events are rapidly building to a very nasty morning headline in your newspaper. The dems better start thinking of that and not how sweet revenge tastes.

    Pat Buchanan says:

“While the losses were not large for the sixth year of a sitting president – a net of six Senate seats and 30-odd House seats – the significance of Nov. 7 is huge and the consequences will be historic.

“But it is crucial to sift out what the nation was saying and what it was not saying. Nov. 7 was a referendum on George Bush, the Iraq war and the Republican Party, and, undeniably, a repudiation of all three. Tuesday’s rout is what happens to a hubristic party that leads a nation into an unnecessary and unwise war, and presents that nation with a congressional face of self-indulgence and corruption.

“But the nation that rejected Bush and the Republicans did not reject conservatism. To the contrary, it seemed to want to punish the prodigal sons for abandoning the faith of their fathers.

    “…”

While I am not 100% sold on his full thesis, I certainly agree with the sentence in bold. Calling the voters stupid for withdrawing support from the GOP just doesn’t cut it.

Now here’s something funny. From leftists. Go watch, but only if you’re above the age of consent wherever you live or old enough to hold graphic sexual instant message conversations with congressmen.

  14. Christoph says:

I’m not a leftist, Limerick. You need to read with more — ah — nuance.

  15. Limerick says:

Oh that’s right Christoph. From your HotAir comments you are simply one of the impeach bush crowd. Nice priorities you have. Good solid conservative who hasn’t a single synapsis bewteen his ears.

  16. Limerick says:

you have my apologies Christoph…….not any synapsis left here either.

i think, behind closed doors, the powers that be basically agree with jeanne. ol’ bin himself said as much years ago. the only sure way to bring america down is through our financial system. it is a system that at the end of the day runs on a handshake, world trade and oil. they have the oil. with europe next, world trade grinds to a halt. the american financial system implodes. hello 7th century and sharia.

i think the twin towers were the official start of the race to the bottom. it’s no coincidence that 2/3’s of the entire world’s electronic commerce had passed thru it each day. while bin, probably long dead, had lived in a cave he was very savy about financial matters. he ran a $500 million empire giving him first hand knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of the worldwide financial market. he thinks he knows right where to put the IED—-eurabia and specifically londonistan.

  18. Barbara says:

President Bush needs to forget all this asinine “hearts and minds” junk. He needs to get totally serious and demand the results of victory from the generals. We don’t even want to be in Iraq long enough to reap the benefits of their “hearts and minds” if there is such an animal. We seem to be in a holding pattern waiting for the Iraqis to join us of their own free will. Well, they are doing this but too slowly for our soldiers’ well-being. We are there only to liberate them and they don’t get it. I read more than a year ago in Michael Yon’s “Gates of Fire” that high command released prisoners the soldiers fought against deeming them to be no longer a threat. I wonder how many of these people returned to fight against our troops. Probably all of them. I know one of them shot the LTC and put him out of commission. Just like under pressure from the left we released the prisoners from Guantamino and they returned to the battle. You can’t win these people over. You can’t reason with them. I know I sound bloodthirsty but you can only surrender to them or kill them. There are no other options.

  19. Jacqui says:

Anyone see the posting on Drudge? Iranians are sending drones over the fleet – broadcasting video saying they were able to get there without any of our planes interfering with them. They seem to be itching for a fight.

  20. Limerick says:

Yes it was disturbing. Not because they can but because they made public bragging points with it. There is only one reason, they think they can strike. They are getting very over confident. Of course on the down side, maybe they can strike. Bet there is an admiral or two with a few more worry lines today.
