Cell Phone Arrest Update: No Terror Links

Published by at 3:53 pm under All General Discussions

The FBI has done a very unique thing: it issued a statement that there are no links to any known terrorist groups and the 3 men arrested in relation to the Mackinac Bridge incident. I take that as a sign the Feds are not convinced this is part of an international terror plot. We shall see, but this might be a case of overreaching by local police. Stay tuned and keep an open mind because, in this country, we are innocent until proven guilty.

Evidently the feds are not convinced that these people are terrorists. But that is what they said about the guy at the stadium in Oklahoma, the guy in North Carolina and the guy in Seattle. And now these guys who bought so many cell phones. I counted 1800 cell phones. This is ridiculous. Who in the world would buy phones with no batteries or chargers for almost double what the whole kit costs?
Why does the government not think that individuals can and will commit acts of terrorism.

  2. Let me say, that I didnt find these guys explanations that far fetched. That was just me of course.

Our true enemy is not an institution that we might pull up and arrest, but an ideaological enemy. Ultimately, the bedrock of such an enemy is the same as traditional Islamist or Leftist terrorist organizations: they have no central hierarchy truly, but rather are cell based… where one cell is operating independantly of the other and without, necessarily, knowledge of other cells.

Like weeds, it is important to destroy them weeds themselves, but ultimately they must be attacked at the root. Otherwise, they just grow back.

That’s okay. And Chavez posing with a vinyl doll that looks like Castro, falls into the same category. Our MSM lost perspective long ago.

And, that’s where the FBI floats. What’da’ya wanna call ’em? FIB?

I can see a need to deny the Islamofacist pigs access to the media. Where they brag at every opportunity to get their names, coupled to their attrocities, into print.

Think of it as the way certain hollywood producers could nip a star’s buds in its tracks, by not having access to hollywood press kits, available.

You don’t think so? Well, what do you think happened to those who failed to turn their bottoms up on the producers’ couches?

I heard they can use the batteries to make meth. That might have been a plausible scenario (if it is even true) if they didn’t have pictures of the bridge.

Talked to my Michigan sister last night. She and her family will not be making their annual Labor Day walk across the Mackinac. Hopefully, the bridge will remain intact while the other approximate 49,999 people, mostly families, lots of kids, but including the Governor and Michigan politicos and dignitaries make the crossing.

It’s a big annual event, joined one year by President George H. W. Bush (41). The bridge is partially closed off to vehicles from 7 am to Noon for the event, so five hours with about 50,000 people crossing the five mile stretch over the Straits. Averages out to about 10,000 people per hour going over that bridge. Lots of strollers, buggies, laughing kids. Whole families, extended families.

But I’m sure those ME chargerless and batteryless cell-phone entrepreneurs are just innocent, misunderstood solid citizens, and their photos of the Mackinac were just standard touristy sight-seeing stuff.

    Yeah, I believe that.

Does getting caught and then getting off embolden them? Or does it make them shy?

Does it stop the money flow? That could be one outcome, as these enterprenures discover the disappearing nature of “investment funds,” once you’re stupid enough to get caught. And, the higher ups wash their hands of you?

Beats me. I have no idea.

Will it make people more alert? Sure. When the police don’t do their jobs do you know that some people carry baseball bats in their cars? “Just in case you have to reach for something in a hurry, to stop an evil-doer.” Evil-doers can get hurt, ahead, if the next big 9/11 … they still seem to be seeking, occurs somewhere. And, it’s big enough to get reported.

I noticed, by the way, how QUIET Fox has become regarding their kidnapped journalists in Gaza. There’s a memo out, posted at Drudge, from one of the top guns at Fox, FORBIDDING SHOWS to even think of airing “experts” to discuss this “sensitive and fragile” matter.

    Such a good story, squashed.

It seems even the MSM knows more about muzzies than they’re willing to admit.

And, what IF the punishment to the Palestinians is Gaza is a LOSS OF NEWS COVERAGE? What else do they have except propaganda?

    Live and learn.

Excellent points, Carol. Even Fox simply will not go completely off the PC range (O’Reilly interviewed CAIR spokesman Awad tonight, then told his next guest, the Israeli Ambassador, that “Awad is a man of peace”), but the Fox brass apparently has enough Muzzie savvy to put a temporary sock in it.

The WSJ, was it Danny Pearl? Early, in the Afghanistan theatre — that drew wall to wall coverage, and the reporter ended up dead with an essential body part relocated a distance from its host.

I saw the Drudge-linked Fox honcho’s memo. I was glad to see it (just imagine Greta Van Susteran latching onto that story). The Fox reporter, Steve Centani, seems like one of the better ones (reporters). I hope he gets safely released.

Giving everything the benefit of the doubt,
How about somebody in the MSM try to come up with some investigative journalism to explain how people profit from the recycled phone transactions. Who do they resell to, what’s the markup and what is the final disposition of the phones.

I for one would love to see if a plausable explanation exists.

1,000 cell phones? Pictures of the bridge? Large amounts of untraceable cash? Just when the hell are two and two going to make four? I suppose since these men were in Michigan buying cell phones, they might as well be tourists and take in a tour of the Mackinac Bridge? It would be quite a coup to bring it down with 50,000 people on it wouldn’t it? How stupid and dense can Homeland (Security?) be? This is MADNESS!!!
