Specter Wants To Play Games During War

Published by at 9:09 am under All General Discussions,FISA-NSA

As I pointed out with the Toronto raid on the terrorist cell there, it is highly possible the entire effort was detected using the NSA’s Terrorist Surveillance program, and when two US citizens allied themselves with the terrorists, they were brought into the FISA process (here and here).  Senator Specter seems to want to have a constitutional showdown on whether we want to be protected from terrorists like those just nabbed in Canada:

A Senate committee chairman warned of a “constitutional confrontation” with the Bush administration Wednesday over its domestic surveillance program, threatening to subpoena administration officials or phone company executives in a congressional review.

There are many reasons why we do not let Congress fight our wars or defend our country.  And Specter represents many, if not most of them.  But I say bring it on Senator.  You explain why we should be exposed to attacks like those planned in Canada because you are insecure and paranoid, not to mention terminally petulant.  That debate is a no brainer.  It will cap your Senate career in pure Neville Chamberlain style.

Bush has made a number of mistakes, and one of the biggest is campaigning for Arlan Specter in 2004. The NSA survelliance program is a lynch pin in the GWOT, and for any Senator, much less a Republican, to behave as Specter is doing is reprehensible. I’d love to see the Administration’s response to a subpoena from the Senate Judiciary Committee be something like “GO TO HELL”!!

Why doesn’t Specter walk into the oval office and ask the President, for crying out loud!

This particular Senator I am ashamed to say represents my home State. Kathie, if he did that, he would not garner the press he so desires. He is one of the best examples of a RINO the party has to offer and one that sadly we will continue to be subjected to for at least another 4 years.

As far as his “constitutional showdown” with the administration all he is doing is pandering to the dems in this state. What he really needs to do is quietly go about his job of getting the Presidents nominees to the federal bench confirmed in committee..but that only “entitles” him to a brief few moments on TV, this issue however puts him on the front page of newspapers and on the Sunday talk shows.

Should he choose to take on the White House and the majority of the public on this issue, he surely will lose and any shred of respect that may be left for him will disappear..so be it.

Few people still remember that Arlen Specter himself, is the one person that came up with the asinine “single bullet theory” in the JFK assassination when he was counsel to the Warren Commission, he didn’t have good sense back then and he seems to still be using them.
