Ignorance Is Not A Bliss

Published by at 7:52 am under All General Discussions,Global Warming

The most laughable news I heard yesterday was the protest outside NOAA (which is a cousin to NASA in many ways) because people who obviously struggled through high school math and science were all upset that NOAA doesn’t buy into the Voodoo science claims of the Global Warming crowd.

Hundreds of concerned citizens and leaders from across the nation will join Hurricane Katrina survivors Wednesday to call for the resignation of the heads of the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) at the NOAA Headquarters just outside of Washington, D.C. During an 11 a.m. demonstration, advocates will demand that NOAA stop covering up the growing scientific link between severe hurricanes and global warming while insisting on real solutions to the problem of global warming.

The protest comes at the start of the 2006 Hurricane season, which officials at the NHC predict will be “a hectic, above-normal tropical storm season.” Speeches begin at 11 a.m. EDT and protestors will carry dramatic props and photographs of Hurricane Katrina. A 37-hour demonstration will follow, lasting until midnight on June 1st, with picketing during the day and a candlelight vigil by night.

Scientists have been pointing out that (a) yes, there is a warming trend and it has been going on for hundreds of years and (b) we are nowhere near historic high temperatures earth has seen. The historic record is replete with evidence that this is possibly (and probably) part of a long term cyclic trend. We have seen increases and changes in the Sun’s activites. We have seen a lot of tectonic and volcanic activity. The Sun and the earths hot core absolutely swamp the impact humans may or may not be having.

On the flip side, all the ‘man is the problem’ models have failed over and over again to get anything right. That is because those models are (wait for it) WRONG. If you keep getting 2+2 = 5 your model is just plain wrong. Stop trying to claim everyone else is wrong and you are right.

Ingorance of all the facts just makes people look like fools when they go out and try and fire a scientist simply because they do not agree with his positions. Science is not swayed by public opinion. No matter how many racists try to make the claim, there is nothing in a person’s skin color that effects their mental or physical potential. And just like skin-head science is bogus, so is global warming predictions from the likes of Al Gore (who I doubt can spell ‘www’).

But hey, all are issues are not driven by hate and anger! All of them. No matter what reality tries to show us, emotion is the crutch. We truly are losing it in this country.
