Cain Has Target On His Back – And Probably Voters By His Side

Published by at 7:55 am under All General Discussions

We are witnessing the character lynching of Herman Cain by CNN and others in the Political Industrial Complex (Pols, Lobbyists, Special Interests, Media, etc). Cain is an American success story, a man from a lower middle class, hard working family whose ancestors were once slaves. He rose to the pinnacle of the business world and has some very bold and needed ideas on how to neuter Washington DC’s Political Industrial Complex.

So he has a target on his back. I am not sure which is more maddening. The unproven and unsubstantiated charges from the left (who defended Clinton, the womanizer in chief through his endless stream of dalliances and sexual predation), or the spineless surrender of the right who rush declare Cain’s candidacy over.

I have no clue what the truth is, I only know that in this country you are innocent until proven guilty and no one should be damaged by unfounded rumors. Those who promote and enable such damage are not true Americans.

Allahpuundit at Hot Air makes some cogent points – worthy of everyone holding their fire. First off, consider the source of the claims:

Two other interesting details. One: The Fox affiliate claims it wasn’t White who approached them with this story but a tipster who knows her and who allegedly was shopping the story to national media. That might explain the peculiar timing of White waiting to come forward until after Cain had already started to slide in the polls. If she was looking to make a buck off the story, she’d have been better off jumping in three weeks ago when he was still the frontrunner and media interest was sky high. The fact that she waited suggests that she might be telling the truth in saying she felt obliged to come forward before some news outlet picked up the tipster’s claim and ran with it. Two: Watch to the end here and you’ll see that she has money problems and has been accused before by a business partner of stalking and defamation. In fact, she lost a defamation case because, supposedly, she never showed up in court to contest the suit.

Phone logs does not an affair prove. And as Allahpundit notes in another post, an affair is not a crime nor anyone’s business:

This is not an accusation of harassment in the workplace – this is not an accusation of an assault – which are subject matters of legitimate inquiry to a political candidate. Rather, this appears to be an accusation of private, alleged consensual conduct between adults – a subject matter which is not a proper subject of inquiry by the media or the public.

I think Iowa caucus voters are wondering why this man scares the DC insider crowd so much? I have said it before, the anti-government, anti-business-as-usual mood in the country is ripe for coming to Cain’s side as opposed to abandoning him at the moment. Not without more than this.

Will Iowa, New Hampshire and other primary and caucus voters determine this hit job on Cain is a sign Cain might actually be the antibody to DC’s power addiction?

We will have to wait and see, but I can tell from Cain’s initial stance he is not bowing down. Good for him. If this is a gold digger who wants to play politics, then prepare to be vetted.

These claims by CNN allies are akin to crying rape. They will have the same devastation on Cain’s career, family, reputation, etc. So while CNN will broadcast any old rumor they see fit to run, the rest of the media better get their act together and put an end to these political hit jobs. They need to bring their game up a few notches (ethics-wise).

Either this new woman has proof or the media calls her out on it. We need to disarm the rumor-mill and move away from the Dan Rather lose ethics that brought us forged documents and lies. We shall see, but if the media and libs are going this far out on a limb with such flimsy foundation, the only reason I see for this is they are taking orders from a frightened Whute House and DNC, and the GOP side keeps trying to help by determining Cain dead.

Well, this ain’t 1980 and we have seen the public lynching of people like Justice Thomas before. We have seen the left defend groping interns in the White House (among the milder charges). We have are not naive nor prude. DC is a smelly swamp.

I appreciate your perspective, AJ. Seeing this latest hit on him only reinforces for me that there is a plan to take him down. They are directing this toward women, to play on their fears, and bring up stereotypes about black men.

The questions the media never asked of OBLahBLah the Presstitutes Messiah:
Where are the women in his life,
who did he date before Moochelle?
Who knew him at Harvard or hung out with him during his time on the Law Review?
None of these people want to admit to knowing or dating the President of the United States? Unbelievable, no gold diggers in his past?
Did he really belong to an exclusive gay Mens club in Chicago?
How smart is he really have we seen his grades?
If Obama is gay could his weight problem be due to aids?
If Herman Cains past is open for exploitation and rumor then what do we need to know about the current President before America makes another mistake and re-elects him?

    CNN,ABC,NBC, CBS, FAUX News?

Ironic that the same forces who stood silent while Palin was given the Tuscon treatment are silent now while Cain takes the arrows. The Establishment Repugs are no better then the Rat Party!
A pox on all their houses.
I’m on the Cain train until Herman or Sarah put a halt to it.

It’s it curious that all the accusations thus far have originated from just a 3 year period when Cain was head of the National Restaurant Association. Both of the sexual harrassment claims, the claim of sexual assault by Sharon Bailek, and now this woman, Ginger White, who claims this ‘affair’ began in the same period, 13 years ago. Also, the only two women that have spoken publicly both having serious money problems.

It really seems like the people who brought you Anita Hill to try and bring down a Black Conservative have really stepped up thier game.

Redstate wonders how Cain could have or continue an affair while undergoing treatment for stage 4 cancer. Ginger White said that the affair ended 8 months ago.

That said, I think part of this story is bogus.

Newt also has a target on his back and his baggage is bigger than Cain’s at this point. Not many will be happy with him if he wins.

  5. lurker9876 says:

Many conservatives are not using these allegations and private affairs as the reason for their rejection. They’re using Cain’s gaffes and lack of knowledge of foreign policy as the reason for their rejection of him.

My husband’s response was…if you voted for Obama, you voted for someone that knows absolutely nothing about anything but socialism.

Not many presidents knew enough about foreign policy.

My position is…that if you have the right principles, you can learn about the foreign policy and make the right decisions.

    Robert Costa reports just now:

In a conference call this morning, Herman Cain told his senior staff that he is “reassessing” whether to remain in the race. He told them he will make his final decision “over the next several days.”

Hhhmmm…interesting first comment…now we know why the good people do not enter politics.

    Cain may be bowing out.

The Democratic muck rakers (in the White House and the press) have perfected destroy tactics. I so hate this kind of politics and the people who destroy their opponents. Are they so incompetent that they are afraid of a good debate? I think so!

  8. kathie says:

Is there something fishy here? Would Cain run for President of the United States knowing what the press has done to other conservative blacks, if his background was so sketchy?

  9. Redteam says:

dhunter, all those things about Obama, it’s because the media is protecting him. They don’t want any of the truths to come out because he’s their guy.

But, Cain may be the best person in the world, and if he is, close scrutiny will only reveal that. I can tell you for a fact that if I were to enter politics and the news people started making up stories that there is no truth to, then they wouldn’t stick. The interest of the media is to destroy anyone that might make Obama’s re-election more difficult and Cain certainly fits that category.

“So while CNN will broadcast any old rumor they see fit to run, the rest of the media better get their act together and put an end to these political hit jobs. They need to bring their game up a few notches (ethics-wise).” Why would you think the news media is interested in ‘their ethics’ ? They never have been. Their only interest is in promoting progressivism. I don’t know what any of the present candidates have in their closet, but if they get to be a serious candidate, the media will do all they can to destroy them. Cain didn’t help himself much by not being able to answer political questions and just suggesting he will hire a good advisor to tell him what to do. Obama handles that role fairly well, but I don’t like his advisors and what they are telling him. I’d rather vote for the person that knows what he wants. (and right now, nobody is fulfilling that role) I predict that Cain won’t be a candidate very much longer. While i’m making predictions, I’m gonna also make a bold prediction here. Obama won’t be a candidate very much longer either. (All these suits coming up to require him to prove who he is, one will prevail and he will drop out, before that happens)

    JUST TO PLAY DEVIL’S ADVOCATE:

If, deep down he was dumb as a rock while being absurdly overconfident (like every hardcore salesman I’ve ever met) then I’m afraid the answer is – Yes, Yes he would.

I can’t be sure that’s the case, no one can. But it’s a heck of a possibility. He makes great speeches, no doubt – but a whole lot of people who can make great speeches are idiots. We’ve got one of those in the oval office already, we don’t need another. Look at his lawyers statement yesterday – it was pathetic. Read it; this is not from Cain’s opponents, this is his campaign’s official response to the claim.

Under these circumstances, this is a full admission that all of her claims are true; there’s no other way it can be seen. Read this and tell me if you really think his campaign has a ghost of a chance anymore:

“Mr. Cain has been informed today that your television station plans to broadcast a story this evening in which a female will make an accusation that she engaged in a 13-year long physical relationship with Mr. Cain.

No individual, whether a private citizen, a candidate for public office or a public official, should be questioned about his or her private sexual life. The public’s right to know and the media’s right to report has boundaries and most certainly those boundaries end outside of one’s bedroom door.

Mr. Cain has alerted his wife to this new accusation and discussed it with her. He has no obligation to discuss these types of accusations publicly with the media and he will not do so even if his principled position is viewed unfavorably by members of the media.”

(stick a fork in him, he’s done – and it’s NOT because of the cheatin’ on his wife, it’s because he was stupid enough to think he could keep this hidden from everyone and made no plans to deal with it.)

CHRISTIE TO OBAMA: ‘What the hell are we paying you for?’

    I love it!

WWS I’m thinking that I agree with you. What a shame! Maybe Cain thought he would get the Obama treatment.

13 years ago was Dec 1998. Last Vegas Tyson/Holyfield fight was 28 Jun 1997. 14.5 yrs ago. So either Ms. White is mathematically challenged, mistaken on when the alleged affair started, or lying. I think it’s No. 3.
