The Real Threat Of Right Wing Extremism

Published by at 8:04 am under All General Discussions

I said when that infamous DHS report was leaked to the conservative media, and all the drama queens on the right were swooning about being political targets, if there really are violent extremists on the right then the drama queens are going to look both petty and dumb.

Well, seems that there are violent right wing extremists and they are threatening further violence in the name of ‘life’:

The man charged with murdering a high-profile abortion doctor claimed from his jail cell that similar violence was planned around the nation for as long as the procedure remained legal, a threat that comes days after a federal investigation launched into his possible accomplices.

Scott Roeder called The Associated Press from the Sedgwick County jail, where he’s being held on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault in the shooting of Dr. George Tiller one week ago.

“I know there are many other similar events planned around the country as long as abortion remains legal,” Roeder said. He would not elaborate.

I guess the thing that bothers me most is I am not that surprised, given the heated rhetoric and the self anointed morale superiority from these circles. So, how’s that drama queen thing doing for the folks on the right who acted as if only saints existed in the ‘true conservative’ movement?

    Terrye,

Pullease. Don’t drama queen on me. I am pro life.

The fact I am pro life does not mean there are not violent people on the pro-life fringe.

I am an American, Geoffry Dahmer the cannibalizing mass murder was an American. He doesn’t represent America.

Anymore than the extremists on the right which were a concern to the DHS represented conservatives. Until the idiotic conservatives proclaimed themselves to be extremists on the right.

    How’s that for drama??

Pretty damn lame and stupid. Which is why conservatives can’t muster any opposition to the most inept liberal President ever elected.

Yeah, its that damn bad. The only way the GOP gets even a part look is when the opposition is so bad it makes them look kind of good in comparison.

    Yeah – love that plan.

AJ, I don’t know why you are supporting a bogus report that the Homeland Security eventually apologized for and withdrew. Of course there are security concerns with groups on both sides. No one ever complained about that. However, the report, as written, said so much more than that.

” In a hearing yesterday held by the House Homeland Security Committee, Napolitano acknowledged that the report should never have been issued, that it replaced specific threats with generalities, and that the new report would focus on actual threats. The person who released the report faces “personnel action”

That is right AJ, you are pro life. So why are you making statements about other pro lifers as if they were all part of some domestic terrorist ring. That DHS report did not differentiate between good prolifers and bad prolifers. It said veterans and people who oppose abortions were potential dangers.

So if we are going to talk about drama queen I think that works both ways. It is like Charles Johnson lifting comments from Freeper or trying to say that Randall Terry is a typical pro lifer…none of that is fair. There will always be crazy people out there doing crazy things.

  4. Terrye says:

And the idea that Obama won because of anything like this is silly. Obama had been president for months before this doctor was killed. And abortion was not even an issue during the campaign and if it was an issue Bush was the one who was seen as being extreme. People like Obama treat Palin as if she were some hilly billy right winger pro life crazy person herself.

  5. Terrye says:

And I have to say something else. I really thought that the extreme right drove people away from the GOP. I believed that myself. But Obama won in spite of his association with Jeremiah Wright and Ayers and people like that…so apparently the public is not so turned off by the extremes as I thought they were.

All sorts of pro life organizations have come out to distance themselves from this attack, but the people who want to blame Tiller’s death on a whole movement ignore those people and go with Randall Terry instead.

So who exactly is perpetrating this idea that pro lifers are crazy people? Is it the extreme right or is the people who are attacking the GOP?

    Terrye,

If you want to know who is giving pro life a bad image you need look no farther than Scott Roeder.

    AJ:

What is the average prolifer supposed to do about a whacko like Roeder? Are they supposed to become pro choice or something?

The people who are making the pro life movement look bad are also the people who insist that every prolifer in America be suspect because of the actions of some kook.
