Obama: Military Personnel Owe America For Being Injured In War

Published by at 2:12 pm under All General Discussions

Update: Had to borrow this picture from Hot Air that really drives home the absurdity of this whole mess.

Ed Morrissey does his usual excellent job of distilling this down to its essence:

If the country needs more revenue streams, it should find some other way to find them than the backs of our wounded veterans.  They’ve sacrificed enough.  Shame on the Obama administration for attempting to weasel out of our commitment.

Nuff said – end update

You don’t think socialized medicine will be all that bad? Ask wounded war veterans who may be required to pay the US government for medical treatments for their war injuries:

The leader of the nation’s largest veterans organization says he is “deeply disappointed and concerned” after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. The Obama administration recently revealed a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in such cases.

“It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan,” said Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion. “He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it.”

What an ‘eff’-ing jerk! After these brave men and women laid their lives on the line he has the gaul to demand they pay for the privilege of being maimed and injured? Does this man have any heart or soul (or brain cells)?

Obama hates the military…….I don’t care what he says, he has no respect for our fighters.

    Obama hates Wall Street.

Obama hates America except when it can be a means to his plan. The problem, we don’t fully understand his plan yet.

Obama is a Wright through and through.

Obama is going to fundamentally change America……he has used those words many times.

I am happy to be John Galt.

A new poll out just today shows the Republicans ahead in the generic congressional ballot for the first time in years.

America loves her troops. Obama just killed any chance he had at being a 2-term President. And he will probably have a Republican Congress after 2010.

Looks like Democrats in Congress are lining up to put the kabosh on this latest Obungling.

Democrats in Congress are organizing to squash a White House proposal that would require veterans to use private insurance to pay for treatment of their combat and service-related injuries.

At least according to A. Huffington. I just want to know what planet this administration is from.

I read over at Hot Air that Rasmussen is not the only poll to show those results. I wonder if that is really true. If so, Obama will not have any coat tails. In fact it will be the reverse.

The new nomenclature for the “War on Terror”, as told by Janet Napolitano,

Napolitano tells the German news site Spiegel Online that while she presumes there is always a threat from terrorism: “I referred to “man-caused” disasters. That is perhaps only a nuance, but it demonstrates that we want to move away from the politics of fear toward a policy of being prepared for all risks that can occur.”

    This administration is beyond real!

Yet he jumps at the chance to send 900 million to GAZA

The milblogs are on fire with this

MerlinOS2, the man running this country at this point is absolutely incompetent. He makes Jimmy Carter look like a nuclear engineer (oh, wait …).

Anyway .. Obama’s administration is displaying levels of incompetence I would not tolerate in a private company, let alone a government of a major power. Democracy might not be the best form of government when the decision is based on who has the best marketing campaign. I vet employees more carefully than we do a President.

Did YOU call any candidate’s personal references before you voted for them?

  8. WWS says:

Much has been made about “Hope” – well, let me say that I very sincerely HOPE that he officially proposes this!!! Of course, I suspect that some of the slightly less incompetent Congresscritters will nip this in the bud, but who knows?

Why would I say this? Because Obama and his staff are too blindly ignorant to understand just what a firestorm of outrage this will start. This would *Destroy* his personal approval ratings, and would let everyone who has ever been in the military know – beyond any shadow of doubt – that Obama is their enemy and means them harm. Obama’s image would never recover from this fiasco, and his entire budgeting plan could crumble into ashes in the fallout. Oh yes, hope can be a wonderful thing.

No, Congress will never pass it – but let Obama push it, and push it, and push it some more! Get out on that limb and saw it off, son!

Anyone still wonder why democrats want to prevent the counting of votes by members of the military? And as for the personal brownshirt brigade Hussein would like to create with illegal alien participation…what a perfect, anti-American force, automatically guaranteed to do the bidding of its Emperor-in-Chief!

  10. Tipping point?…

I wrote before of being aghast at the Obama administration’s idea to make US military personnel buy private insurance to pay for treatment for combat wounds by the VA. I felt certain they’d realize how stupid and insulting this proposal……

Kathie—Obama will never change America (try as he might) unless we let him and I think the silent majority ain’t gonna let that happen—-Obama is a small petty man who demonstrates each day how unfit for command he is, how inexperienced he is to lead America and how short sighted and ignorant every person who voted for him is. He also demonstrates how important both a mother and a father are in raising a child—this guy is little more than a tyrannical brat. But the fish stinks from the head.

I refer to my post a few days ago regarding the Platonic division of society and need for virtue within each—and I stick by my belief that the soldier class is the only one currently performing up to par. The rulers and the people have a long way to go to either lead with wisdom or sacrifice for the greater good. I would guarantee that if the alleged government turns their backs on the military that the private sector will step up and do the right thing—that is the America that I still believe in, that doesn’t need change and has always been based on hope.

    THIS is INSANITY:

WASHINGTON — Attorney General Eric Holder said some detainees being held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, may end up being released in the U.S. as the Obama administration works with foreign allies to resettle some of the prisoners.

Holder, in a briefing with reporters, said administration officials are still reviewing individual cases of the approximately 250 detainees to determine which will be put on trial and which may be released to comply with plans to close the detention facility by next year.

Obama is talking about taking Gitmo detainees and “resettling” them in the US until or unless they can find some other country to take them.

Someone PLEASE send this man a BRAIN. I don’t what those people anywhere near my children, my parents, my community.

How in the world did we elect such an idiot to be President of the United States?

Obama did promise the marines during his Iraq speech he would take care of military personnel. I hope this is not what he meant.

Obama knows he needs help, and so he’s switching back to campaign mode… with Leno?!
