Able Danger Round Up 09/20/05

Published by at 6:59 am under Able Danger/9-11,All General Discussions

This morning the Washington Times has a precursor on the Senate hearings supposedly happening tomorrow. It is a good review of the last week’s revelations and key questions.

However, as with nearly everything related to Able Danger, there is some confusion. The employee who will testify that he destroyed the data will apparently also allege that a Special Operations Command general, who was in the Able Danger chain of command, was “incensed when he found out that material that he was a customer for was destroyed without his approval,” said Mr. Weldon. If true, this might mean that the order to destroy the Able Danger data came from elsewhere in the Pentagon, which could lead one to speculate that it was not part of normal procedure.

Remember to watch this site for updates on the witness list.

If you are into wild twists and turns check out this MadCow article that claims to have found evidence the Feds were tracking Atta up until right before 9-11. I have no idea to the verasity of this information – just provide it as a point of interest

On August 6, 2001, the same day Atta and Marwan Al-Shehhi returned to Venice after renting a car at Warrick’s RentaCar in Pompano Beach, FL, and picking up Siad Al-Jarrah at the airport in Miami, the MadCowMorningNews has learned that a self-described former NAVY SEAL named Joe Gesell applied for and was hired as the night driver (they only need one) at Venice Yellow Cab.

Gesell squired Atta around Venice and Sarasota in his cab on a number of occasions. What raises suspicions that he may have been working for more than just tips is this: after starting his new job on the day of Atta’s return, Gesell quit a month later, just one day after Atta left town for the last time.

On Friday, Sept. 14, three days after the Sept. 11 attack, cab driver Bob Simpson, the day driver for Venice Yellow Cab at the time, was contacted by the FBI. According to Simpson, the FBI was intent on finding and interviewing Gesell.

C-span still doesn’t have any programming listed on C-span2 or C-span3 for tomorrow when the hearings are scheduled.

Contact C-span to request they cover it. Maybe if enough of us ask, they’ll at least put it in their website archive.

    from C-span’s contact page:
Submit a public event that you think C-SPAN should cover:

  2. Able Danger Hearings Tommorow

Per AJ Strata, the Washington Times in an anoymous OPED (OPED?), announces the witness list for the hearings beginning in Spectors House.

AJ, Mad Cow Morning News? The guy thinks the hijackers were double agents involved in some CIA or DEA drug trafficking plot that involved Katherine Harris. Now, that is quite a leap! I’m more interested in what the 9/11 families are saying:

Sept. 11 family members are protesting a reported Pentagon attempt to close this week’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on a claim that military intelligence had lead hijacker Mohammed Atta in its sights as early as 1999.

“They want to sweep it under the rug,” said Joan Molinaro, a former Eltingville resident, whose firefighter son was killed at Ground Zero.

“They have been denying this Atta thing up, down and sideways for weeks,” she said. “And now they want to cover it up.”

Tentative Able Danger witness list released

Are Phillpott and Shaffer only letting their lawyer speak for them or will they be on one of these panels after all? If they are really planning a one-person panel for Weldon, that seems a little bit odd. Anyway, the…

Daniel Hopsicker, the Mad Cow author you cite, is a major “source” for a book published by Sander Hicks called “The Big Wedding.” This book claims that the Neocons are behind 9-11. See http://www.sanderhicks.com

Earlier, Hicks’ was the publisher of a book called “Fortunate Son” that claimed Bush was arrested with cocaine. The author of that book was the career criminal and car-bomber J. H. Hatfield. This career criminal made an unsourced allegation that Bush was arrested with cocaine but got off.

Hicks has been discredited. He claimed that Carl Rove got in a boat with the known car bomber Hatfield and told Hatfield that Bush used cocaine. He told this at a press conference because people didn’t see any reason to believe an unsourced tale by a criminal who blew up a car and almost killed two innocent people.

Hatfield even wrote a James Bond novel, self-published it, and claimed in the forward that the official publishers gave their blessings to his book. He gave the impression that his book was published by the English company that published Bond novels.

Hatfield was a con man who killed himself after he was about to go back to prison for computer fraud. He had been a burglar, an embezzler, a car-bomber, etc.

Hicks also makes CDs for prisoners with the fake Indian and real communist Ward Churchill. Hicks has also published a thinly-autobiographical play about a Black Bloc anarchist who hangs a “candidate” who is pretty clearly President Bush. It comes pretty close to advocating murder of the President.

The purpose of anything these guys write and publish is to smear Bush, not to uncover the truth.

Hicks was also very active in mounting his own little investigation of Bush’s military record. He even had contacts with some of the people later exposed during the “Memogate” scandal—the fake documents used to discredit the President just before the election.

Daniel Hopsicker is a source for Sander Hicks.
These dishonest people are professional scandal-mongers for the far left. They depict the US government as criminals and terrorists.

    Curt Weldon’s site http://curtweldon.house.gov/News/
does not mention anything about testifying.

He has said nothing about Able Danger since September 2.

As I mentioned the other day, I think it is possible that the Weldon “press conference” you cited the other day from Global Research was a fabrication. http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=viewArticle&code=20050917&articleId=965

Global Research is a very dishonest site that supports the terrorists.

Weldon’s office didn’t link any press conference and I didn’t see it at its putative source–The Congressional Quarterly.

I wrote Weldon’s office and asked if this press conference was real, but they didn’t respond.

    Snapple,

I jokingly posted Madcow, I never said it was factual and I pointed out the problems with the transcript site. Why do you keep posting the same comments? No one is taking either one really serious – though the transcript has too much detail not to be a legit copy.

I like to post what the fools are saying occasionally. Don’t confuse my fun with the serious side of the discussion.

  8. Snapple says:

I keep posting the same comments because you keep posting the same unreliable communist sources with teensy-weensey disclaimers.

The transcript could be totally fake and still look very real. Global Reseach are professional experts on disinformation.

The GR transcript of the press conference is sourced to the Congressional Quarterly, but I don’t see it there and Global Research did not post a link.

Ward Churchill’s stuff looked real too, but it was fabricated.

No reputable news organization has cited this press conference. They would depend on the Congressional Quarterly, not Global Research.

Weldon has not posted this press conference.

You are posting hard-core disinformation and not giving people a clue.

Weldon has no authority to expose a classified program as he has done. He is probably in plenty of trouble. Just telling about this program could give our enemies information. Anyone who was collaborating with Atta now knows that we may have infomation about him.

Shaffer may not know too much about this program. And Weldon thinks he is running a one-man intelligence service. His book was ridiculous.

I trust Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld. I don’t need to know everything.

This whole business about a “cover up” is being used by the left to claim that “Bush Knew” about 9-11. It’s not a cover-up; it’s classified.
They are tricking dupes on the right into believing that the Democrats covered something up. This is your typical false-flag operation, I think.

Even if the Able Danger material was mishandled, the discusssion should be done secretly.

I expect that people arrested for terrorism will now make the argument that they were illegally spied on by the Army. They will use the trial process to attempt to get more information about our intelligence.

I don’t think any of this stuff has anything to do with “covering up” illegal actions by Democrats or Republicans.

  9. Snapple says:

You write, “Why do you keep posting the same comments? No one is taking either one really serious.”

I have posted a lot of new–not the same-information about Daniel Hopsicker to the effect that he is associated with a publisher known for his blatant dishonesty. The publisher Hicks last published a book by a career criminal and car-bomber who nearly murdered two innocent people. Hicks and Hatfield were sued because thier previous book slandered Lary Burk, Hatfield’s boss. Hatfield claimed that Burk asked him to plant the car bomb. The Feds did not accept this. I was told that Hatfield did not take a lie detector test and Burk did.

You said you had know idea about the veracity Madcow, now you do.
Anyone who would have Hicks as a publisher is trash.

It appears to me that many posters are taking Global Research very seriously.

This is a story about classified information–not a cover-up. But the left will use it to trash Bush.

I have complained to the Pentagon and FBI about Weldon’s disclosures of this classified program. I would like that investigated.

    Snapple,

No one is taking your comments seriously, I think, because the links you refer to where never meant to be taken seriously. What else do you want us to say?
