Introducing Snap Shots from Snap.com

Published by at 10:01 am under All General Discussions

I just installed a nice little tool on this site called Snap Shots that enhances links with visual previews of the destination site, interactive excerpts of Wikipedia articles, MySpace profiles, IMDb profiles and Amazon products, display inline videos, RSS, MP3s, photos, stock charts and more.

Sometimes Snap Shots bring you the information you need, without your having to leave the site, while other times it lets you “look ahead,” before deciding if you want to follow a link or not.

Should you decide this is not for you, just click the Options icon in the upper right corner of the Snap Shot and opt-out.

Let us know how you like it.

AJ, personally, I find snap shots annoying. The popout balloon windows are a pain and it forces me to pay close attention to where the cursor is when I am reading lest I hit one of those little landmines and cover the text I am trying to read.

I noticed that suddenly popping up either late last night or this morning. Pretty neat – and the option to turn it off is smart.

Does it only work on individual articles, and not the main page? And is there any way to make it only pop up for external links (i.e. URLs that aren’t strata-sphere.com, since I kinda already know what this place looks like)?

Yet another good way to use the internet to increase the general intelligence level and I am for it.

As an aside and a good use of this technology can we get a linkup of the USA Gold Medal Beach Volleyball Women’s comments after their great win—- Kerri Walsh specifically thanked the President for the courage he has shown—-and all on NBC prime time coverage. Olbermann must have had a seizure, one can only hope.

Kewl I like it, but then again I’m into 2 am raids on my Christmas presents, still at 40+. 🙂

I like them and you just have to move your cursor a little if the popup is in the way and it goes away. Seems as if all sites are getting this now. I’ve even noticed it in some emails.

Wow, that was fast. Thanks, LJ.

I use it on my blog at Fuanglada. However, not very useful. Using Firefox, it is more convenient to just open links in new tabs instead of checking a snapshot.
IF the title intrigues you, just open it in a tab.

I open you first read [heh… brown- nosing a little here]
and Powerline… After you two get open, I just open links in tabs… Michelle… Hot Air… Powerline News…
Start reading you & Powerline… opening more links in tabs as coffee & rice soup arrive … Sooo, the snapshot preview is just a waste of time… Why bother? On a good day [bad?] 30 or so tabs open to check out. Am I wasting my life? Don’t answer that.

BTW, Capitalism is alive and well in China… check it out at Fuanglada.

  8. Factcheck.org has released what they say is Obama’s REAL COLB.

    http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html

I’m here to man-up, if I was wrong.

I said all along, that I believe Obama is a legally born US Citizen, in Hawaii, to a US Citizen.

My “proof” of that is simple: Obama has a US passport, and has a security clearance of some type; that HAD to be gotten somehow.

However, I also alleged, that the Obama COLB, posted by the Daily Kos was a “forgery”.

My “proof” of that was simple: The Daily Kos-omac is a Leftwing Nutbag website; it makes no sense for a reputable Presidential campaign to release the COLB thru that website; still doesn’t, to tell the truth.

That said, IF the COLB published on the Daily Kos-omac is the exact same one that FactCheck.org is showing, then it is obvious that I was wrong in my assertion.

To me, the Factcheck.org is COLB is obviously real, and the information contained therein, proves that Obama is a citizen, and born to a citizen, as I always said.

If the Factcheck.org COLB is the exact same one that was published on the Daily Kos-omac, then the Daily Kos-omac one is also real, despite my suspicious of that Leftwing Nutbag site.

That said, the even with the COLB being real, several Facts remain:

    a) Obama and his campaign are complete and utter idiots for releasing it the way they did, and allowing it to fester for this long

    b) Raytard in Australia, is still a liar, a fraud, and Obamidiotbot, and an Anti-American/Pro-Jihadi Nutbag who has been exposed in numerous forums for the clown that he is…

  10. AJ: by the way, regardless of the fact that you were ultimately proven correct, and I was proven wrong, you should actually be rejoicing in this controversy!

The Leftist Nutbags are fighting EACH OTHER over this issue!

    Check this out:

    http://texasdarlin.wordpress.com/2008/08/21/factcheckorg-has-new-birth-certificate-story/#more-2376

Demonstrable Hillary supporters have filed suit against Obama in FEDERAL COURT alledging that he is ineligle to be President, due to his FORGED Birth Certificate!

These are Hillary supporters doing this!

And it appears if you read the suit, that their main sources of Info for this suit, is not only “Techdude” and “Ponarick”, but also none other than Hillary-bot Anti-American/Pro-Jihadi Leftist Nutbag, Larry C. Johnson!

Let’s see old Larry spin this as a “Republican” plot, when it’s a definitive Hillary supporter who has done it!

Also curious to see how the MSM hushes this up!

ANY, publicity on this, ANY, is bad for the Leftwing Nutbags, and McCain/RNC can just sit back, and watch them slaughter each other!

    Talk about sweeeeeeeeeeet!

Agree with crosspatch…find the landmines annoying.

Understand they can be disabled here, just hope to disabuse other bloggers who want to follow suit.

Tx for the pointer on how to turn it off. Mission accomplished.
