The Global Warming Movement’s Tactical Mistake Exposes Its True Motive$

Published by at 10:37 am under All General Discussions,Global Warming

Before you ask people to commit economic suicide, you best have your predictions coming true and not falling apart as reality overturns all your assumptions and claims. The WSJ notes today how badly the Church of Al Gore played their hand in trying to ram through Congress useless farces on Climate Control:

But it would appear the political consensus on global warming was as exaggerated as the alleged scientific consensus. “With gasoline selling at $4 a gallon, the Democrats picked the worst possible time to bring up cap and trade,” says Dan Clifton, a political analyst for Strategas Research Partners. “This issue is starting to feel like the Hillary health care plan.”

It’s a good analogy. Originally, Hillary health care had towering levels of support, but once people looked at the cost and complexity they cringed. Jobs were on the mind yesterday of Senator Arlen Specter, who has endorsed a tamer version of cap-and-trade. “Workers in Pennsylvania worry that this will send jobs to China,” he tells me. They’re smart to worry. Look no further than the failure of the Kyoto countries to live up to their promised emissions cuts. Bjorn Lomborg, the author of The Skeptical Environmentalist, tells me: “The Europeans are so far behind schedule, it is almost inconceivable that they will meet their targets.”

Even John McCain, a cap-and-trade original co-sponsor, now says that this scheme won’t fly until China and India sign on – which could be never.

Senators also criticized Warner-Lieberman’s failure to clearly specify what would happen with the vast revenues the climate bill would generate – some $1 trillion over the first decade, which environmental groups wanted as a slush fund to finance “green technologies.”

Emphasis mine – so now we get to crux of what this crap was all about – money. This entire charade is to hide a new progressive tax so that the funds can be funneled to a select few who cannot use the free-enterprise system to succeed, they need a socialist tax-and-steal system to prop them up. As I and many have noted the mythology of CO2 levels driving warming have been debunked over the last ten years of rising CO2 and lower or flat temperatures. In my last post yesterday on this subject I noted how the real bubble of hot air is not just over DC – but covers the Asian land masses of China and India – where I believe a majority of the human population now exists.

To ignore these two countries in any dumb CO2 agreement is a clear indication that this entire thing is a charade, a diversion to pick the pockets of Americans. How can we control CO2 (which is a gas and diffuses globally) while the majority of the population is not bound by any agreement? Well, if this was never really about CO2 Levels but scamming some money off the tax payers then the whole thing makes sense.

Praise be to the Sun, because of its cycles we are entering a cooling (or cooling off) period which allowed the charade of the Global Warming Pick Pockets to be exposed to the light of day. H/T Ice Cap for the link.

One thing that we can all agree on is that importing oil from much of the world is suicide. We as a nation can control where we get our oil, so lets do it and clean up our environment at the same time. Most don’t like the fact the it is a process will take time, many layers of development. Cleaver Americans can and will find solutions to our problems.

Bush presented a comprehensive energy plan in 2001. Can anyone tell me what happened to that plan? I remember it was comprehensive.

I saw this linked at icecap and believe it:

Basically, the problem is that the research community has gone so far along the path of frightening the life out of the man in the street that to recant publicly even part of the story would massively damage the reputation and political clout of science in general. And so, like corpuscles in the blood, researchers all over the world now rush in overwhelming numbers to repel infection by any idea that threatens the carefully cultivated belief in climatic disaster.”

Another thing that is happening is that governments are using “Global Warming” as a hook to do things where they can’t come right out and say the real reason. Take a recent move by a town council in Washington State to eliminate beach bonfires because of “global warming”.

A bonfire does not impact global warming. That dead wood is going to decay if you don’t burn it and release all its CO2 anyway. And the carbon that is in it came from the air to begin with. You basically have a chunk of carbon taken from buffalo farts and when you burn it or allow it to decay, you return the CO2.

The council simply wants to end the bonfires. My guess is that the fire pits cost money to maintain and create places for litter to collect that needs to be cleaned up. But rather than come out and say that it is getting too expensive to maintain the fire pits, they try to use “global warming” as the excuse.

Look for that to happen more and more often. Governments making decisions that adversely impact our quality of life and blaming it on “global warming”.

    The jig is up.

Socialism, which hasn’t worked for 6,000 years and still doesn’t work (hat tip: Milton Friedman), is making it’s last move trying to use the environment as an excuse to grab money from the people who work hard to make it and give it to…themselves and their supporters. They are trying to play it as the money goes to “green technologies”.

Once the high price of everything becomes apparent, they will then need to send this money to their constituents who require subsidies to maintain their current lifestyle. Voila! Socialism keeps rolling.

Already, the enviros I know have moved away from ‘Global Warming’, calling it Climate Change, as if humans are making a material difference to the climate.

Just wait until the solar cycle plays out in 2012 and we start getting cooler. It’ll be entertaining to watch what they say when that happens.

Obama released his statement on the failed Global Warming Bill today

First he basically dismisses anybody who doesn’t have the faith in Gore

As this week’s debate on climate change has unfolded, the American people and those watching us around the world had every reason to hope that we would act.  Every credible scientist and expert believes action is necessary

Then he buys into the world is just a Katrina flood in waiting stuff

We can’t afford more of the same timid politics when the future of our planet is at stake. We are already breaking records with the intensity of our storms, the number of forest fires, and the periods of drought.  By 2050, famine could force more than 250 million from their homes.  And if we do nothing, sea levels will rise high enough to swallow large portions of every coastal city and town.

Even with the 45 trillion world wide cost estimate for a 50% reduction he goes for 80%

Let me be clear, this bill is not perfect.  Emissions reductions must reflect the scientific consensus, which are reductions of at least 80 percent 2050.  We must ensure that more middle-class families reap more of the financial benefits created by this bill.  And we must direct greater resources to the regions of the country that will bear the brunt of this critical transition to a clean energy economy.

I cease to be amazed as to what you can do with a few facts and unlimited ignorance.

One more time. The Global warming stats and dire warnings are generated by the same people who gave us the “Alar in the Apples” scare. Most of their “science Drs.” have degrees and doctorates in subjects other than science but adding that Dr. in front of the names makes it look like they are real scientists. I worked with these people, and know their game plan. They are from the school of “I can bullshit anybody about anything” professional agitators who go back to the 60’s radical militants of the Anti War and Civil Rights movements. Their followers are the youngesters who have been indoctorated in our public school systems by fellow travelers and America haters. What can we expect when black militants like Angela Davis and malcontents like Bill Ayers and other pro Communist . anti Capitalist, and anti America activists have control of our Colleges and Universities? Until background checks weeds these people out of their spheres of influence and our schools and Universities are once more returned to places of learning instead of indoctrination we can expect no better than for our people to be influenced by a bunch of bullshit artist dunces who delight in watching us destroy our own way of life. .

  8. The Rougman says:

Crosspatch, I think you are giving the knuckleheads in Seattle a bit more credit than they deserve. They might very well want to end the bonfires because of the mess, etc., but they are also scared to death of global warming and have swallowed Gore’s swill hook, line and sinker.

Two birds with one stone and all that.

Cleaver Americans can and will find solutions to our problems.

And kathie, with all due respect, this whole discussion is way beyond Wally and the Beav.

  9. Neo says:

I firmly believed, after watching the last Senate hearings with oil company execs, that there was a full scale press to ram a “AGW fix” in the works, but don’t think that Warner-Lieberman is the only action in this regard. The hearings clearly showed that Congress, especially the Democrats, have no interest in pumping more oil any where in the US.

It all revolves around Al Gore and his “green” friends. And, of course, it involves lots of money.

  10. MerlinOS2 says:

    Neo

There are a number of individual proposed amendments that look to be getting prepped to attach to must pass bills that fall right in line with this agenda and they are hoping to slip them in under the radar.

By my last count there are at least ten that fit into this description.

  11. Neo says:

Isn’t it interesting that given the gravity of the AGW issue (LOL), that the post-mortem of Lieberman-Warner is so mute.

  12. dave says:

    H. L. Mencken said, “The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.”

Mencken also said, “The urge to save humanity is almost always the false-face for the urge to rule it.”

    Smart guy, that Mencken.
