al-Qaeda Cries For Help In Iraq

Published by at 9:12 am under All General Discussions,Iraq

Two stories that definitely go together. First is a story on the pounding al-Qaeda has taken in Iraq as they are being hunted down and pushed out by Iraqis and the US:

Between mid-March and mid-April, al Qaeda suffered major losses in Iraq. American and Iraqi troops killed or captured 53 al Qaeda leaders. These include men in charge of entire cities (or portions of large cities like Mosul or Baghdad), as well as men in charge of various aspects of terror operations (making bombs, placing them or minding the bombers). Most important, nine of the ten most senior men involved, were captured, and interrogated. This led to locating more al Qaeda staff, and assets. Hundreds of weapons and explosives caches have been discovered this year, as a result of interrogating captured terrorists. The result has been a sharp fall in suicide bomber attacks, and the ones still carried out are against soft targets (civilians), including the recent funeral of two men earlier killed by terrorists. This was part of an al Qaeda campaign to force Sunni Arabs to switch sides again and support terrorism. But these attacks have the opposite effect, causing more hatred for al Qaeda.

The second story is about the cry for help that just went out from AQ’s number 2 Ayman al-Zawahiri:

Al-Qaeda deputy leader Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri has urged Muslims to join the resistance in Iraq in a new audiotape posed on the Internet. “I call on all Muslims to hurry to the battlefields of Jihad, especially in Iraq,” Zawahiri said in the message posted on the Internet on Tuesday.

“I call upon the Muslim nation to fear Allah’s question (at judgment day) about its failure to support its brothers of the Mujahedeen (Jihad warriors), and (urge it) not to withhold men and money, which is the mainstay of a war,” he added.

“The situation in Iraq heralds an imminent victory of Islam and the defeat of the crusaders and those who stand under their flag,” he added.

Iraqis have made their decision about judgement day and have decided the animalistic butchers of AQ are the enemy of Islam, not the future of Islam. Zawahiri is basically begging Muslims to rush to Iraq and die for him as he sits it out in some mountain perch in Pakistan. I don’t think jihad is as popular as it was after 9-11, I doubt AQ will be saved and I don’t think most Muslims care anymore. The thugs of al-Qaeda have committed too many sins against humanity.

What I really enjoyed about Zawahri’s statement is that part where he goes off on the Truthers who think Israel was behind 9/11:

“One of the questioners asked about the theory that has circulated in the Middle East and elsewhere that Israel was behind the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Al-Zawahri accused Hezbollah’s Al-Manar television of starting the rumor.

“The purpose of this lie is clear — (to suggest) that there are no heroes among the Sunnis who can hurt America as no else did in history. Iranian media snapped up this lie and repeated it,” he said.”

And I’ve got to quote the author of that blog, because this line is just too good to let lie:

“Granted, they’ll just spin it to say Ayman al-Zawahri is a neocon pawn working on orders of Dick Cheney.”

Some time back, when the press was screaming “QUAGMIRE” 24/7, al-Qaeda in Iraq sent out a letter asking for (1) funds, (2) munitions, and (3) clerics.

I figured that if the bad guys were living Warren Zevon’s Lawyers, Guns, and Money, maybe things weren’t going as well for them as advertised.

Apparantly al Zawahri is “blowback” like Ron Paul, rather than MIHOP or LIHOP. Notice Cobalt says “some” rather than “a short while ago…”

I say “some time back” because it was “some time back,” as in more than a year ago. (Not sure if it was before or after the 2006 al-Askari mosque bombing.)

    I guess the truth is hard2take, truthhard2take.

The notion that Zarawahiri, Bin Ladin etc.. is blowback is false.

The United States never gave any assistance of any kind to that group

Can’t wait for Preacher to be sending us Dr. Seuss links to defend his outrageous positions…

    No WMD’s,
not red ones, blue ones, yellows or greens.
Not in the sand, not in Iran.
Not with C4, chlorine, or wrapped in saran.
No bombs, no gas, no poison, no nukes,
not without fear, bribes, Sunnis, or spooks.

Should I link the Dr Seuss Kay Report ? Or maybe you’d like Colin Powell’s belated admission? Or maybe you’d be a ballsy enough man at least capable of anger to complain, like Vince, that Bush is too limp-wristed, or passive, to keep pressing the Front Page Mag. type of “evidence?”

  8. Whippet1 says:

    BurkaBoy2,
You really have a fixation with references to gayness…in particular towards President Bush…wishful thinking?

  9. 75 says:

Oh, I’m sure if you dig deep enough into your sordid bag o’ sources, you’ll be able to come up with the very fictious report you need. You ought to be well familiar with digging by now, Truthy.
