Congress Is Just Really Unpopular, Even Compared To Bush

Published by at 1:07 pm under 2008 Elections,All General Discussions

Update: Quinnipiac sees the same dismal numbers for Congress with 20% approval, 70% disapproval. – end update

In this poll of Floridian voters I detect what is probably the national mood on many topics. What is shows is increasing support for Bush and Congress continues to free-fall as they demonstrate their impotence and lack of seriousness:

When they asked if the respondents approve or disapprove of the President’s overall performance, 37% said they approve, 58% disapprove and 5% are undecided.

ext, they focused on Congress and 20% approve of the way congress is doing it job, 67% disapprove and 13% are undecided.

Bush nearly twice as popular as Congress, and he doesn’t have to face the voters again. This relative distrust of Congress expands to the Iraq war:

The President comes out worse on the issue of Iraq with, 25% approving, 64% disapproving and 11% undecided.

Next they asked if they thought that the Democratic Congress has a better plan for the war in Iraq than the President does. 18% said yes, 68% said no, and 14% are undecided.

Watch for that gap to grow as Patreaus lays out the successes we are having in Iraq right around the anniversary of 9-11. Dems and Congress will tank as Bush rebounds – the GOP will not rebound though. I say this because the GOP is fighting itself as can be seen in the numbers between the Dem and GOP senator (the GOP senator was a target of the far right on Immigration). 2008 Presidential race looks to be relfected in Florida as well (a key swing state):

Rudy Giuliani 34%, Fred Thompson 18%, Mitt Romney 10%, John McCain 8%, Newt Gingrich 3%, Tom Tancredo 3%, Mike Huckabee 3%, Ron Paul 2%, Sam Brownback 1% Tommy Thompson 1%, Duncan Hunter 1% and 16% are undecided.

Hillary Clinton 40%, Barack Obama 20%, John Edwards 16%, Bill Richardson 9%, Joseph Biden 3%, Christopher Dodd 1%, Dennis Kucinich 1% and 10% are undecided.

I seriously doubt the 2008 numbers will change much at all in the next 8-9 months.

YOU LIKED THE DEPICTION OF BUSH AS VETO. I SAID SIX MONTHS AGO HE WAS GOING ITALIAN AND CHANGING HIS NAME TO VETO.

HERE IS THE POOP FROM GROUP.

FRENCH POLL SAYS NANCY PELOSI AND NELSON NEED A HEAD SHAVE.
SIXTY MILLION FRENCHMEN CAN’T BE WRONG. IN A RIGGED POLL INTRODUCED BY THE SPIRIT OF AMERICA PARTY IT WAS LEARNED TODAY THAT THE VISIT OF NANCY BIN PELOSI AND BILL SQUINTY EYES NELSON ON THEIR JIHAD BOOT LICKING TOUR. WHERE THEY ATTENDED A RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY OF THE NEW DAMASCUS IED FACTORY. ALSO ATTENDING WAS THE BUTCHER OF LEBANON BASHAR AL ASSASSIN. WHEN NANCY MUQTADA WAS DIRECTLY ASKED BY THE MEDIA WHY SHE WAS SUPPORTING
THE MURDER OF AMERICANS IN IRAQ SHE REPLIED. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ABSENTEE BALLOTS
WE ARE ONLY SUPPORTING THE KILLING OF LEBANESE CHRISTIANS.

THIS AROUSED THE IRE OF THE FRENCH WHO HAVE GOOD RELATIONS WITH LEBANON. MANY MAQUIS UNDERGROUND VETERANS ACCUSED BELLA PELOSI OF COLLOBORATING WITH VICHY SOISSE DEMONCRATS AND INVITED HER TO PARIS FOR A HAIRCUT. THE EXTENDED THE INVITE TO SENATOR NELSON THE EUNICH WHO THEY SUSPECT OF SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY. THEY ASKED THAT THEY BRING THEIR OWN BARBERS CHAIR. SIMILAR TO THE ONE THAT THE SYRIAN PRESIDENT SAT IN AS THEY LICKED HIS TOES.

    SACRE BLEU TO YOU TOO.

From one who lives in Florida, I read the polls and will be one of the first to point back to the how GWB had a commanding pole lead of the Gorebat back then.

But the vote came down to the wire with all the recounts and whatever involved.

Does anyone seriously believe Florida decided to take a 15 or 20 point swing at the polls away from the surveys before the election?

Every other state in the nation hit right near what the polls were saying within a small percentage, and we are supposed to believe Florida took a dive for Gore totally out of line with the polls.

Seriously look at the numbers, GWB was supposed to win in a walk here in this state.

Why else do you think all of us here were up in arms about the numbers game that got played out in front of our eyes.

We saw what was happening and didn’t like it.

There was some really weird sh*t going on in the voter poll that was not reflected in the numbers and rehashed in hanging chads and so much other bull.

Excuse me but most of the coverage was in Palm Beach which is a known Dem stronghold to give the impression that the Dems had won the state.

It’s not just the polls , look at the last 4 or 5 elections and see where the state fell on which side and by how much of a margin.

In all the coverage of the aftermath not a single major network brought those numbers up since they would have destroyed their fairy tale.

Someone please tell me how Florida swung so far from it’s historic trend line just for that election.

You would have to believe that all of us here were suddenly reading the Daily Kos.

  3. MerlinOS2 says:

Right now we have the polls showing that Hillary is kicking everyone else in the gonads and that just isn’t right. Somebody is cooking the numbers real overdone and burnt since Florida has never ever fell that way and really hard.

I am looking at a real steal and deal of voters whatever here and they are trying to cook the number before hand to give the result they are going to try to fix by whatever method they choose to use.

Look for Florida to again suddenly take a near term tie or a tidal wave for Hillary and I will be the first to call BS.

The state simply isn’t built like that.

But it wont fit the MSM story and it will all be lost in the noise.

  4. MerlinOS2 says:

The polls are telling us Florida has swung from being red in the Regan days to now being bluer than California by 7 to 12% in an 8 or 12 year period.

If you believe that I have got SEVERAL bridges I want to sell you and since I have so many I am having a clearance sale.

  5. MerlinOS2 says:

Look at the Hillary poll numbers here in Florida and you will see she supposedly has it in here pocket.

Notice how far it is out of the trend from all the other states.

Someone has an idea how they are going to deliver the votes here that really don’t reflect what our state feels.

I don’t know what it is, but they have figured and inside way to try to cook the numbers here.

And they are banking on it to carry the day.

  6. MerlinOS2 says:

Hell we just elected a republican governor in a no name who was that election after Jeb Bush was gone. And we are suppose to believe that Hillary has a 15 to 20 point advantage going in to the federal elections.

Believe that and I will sell you my my Rambler Metropolitan and tell you it’s a Lexus.

Please somebody read the numbers and wake up.

  7. lurker9876 says:

Merlin, don’t forget that Kerry won the exit polls in 2004…

    I won’t believe it until November 2008….

  8. Terrye says:

I do think the polls are biased, but I also think that people tend to forget that a state like Florida has a lot of hispanics and a lot of older voters. Those people may not be liberal, but they do not feel comfortable with some of the rhetoric coming from much of the GOP right now either.

In rural Indiana people are not the Daily Kos type, except for a few in Bloomington maybe, but a guy like Ellsworth can still win for the Democrats if he comes across as moderate.

For instance I saw over at Powerline that one of the contributors, John I think, was saying that Republicans should use immigration more, push it, because it is a good issue for them…and I thought..since when? This kind of internal bloodletting needs to stop if Republicans are going to win.

The truth is the majority of us want to get a handle on illegal immigration, but people do not agree on the best way to do that. But name calling, finger pointing, back stabbing, etc have hurt the party.

Bush has remained just as he always was about the subject and while people might not agree with that, at least he has come out looking better than the people calling him Jorge.

    “I detect”

You have, undoubtedly, the worst political instincts of anyone anywhere.

Forgive me if I take your predictions with a pound of salt.

  10. MerlinOS2 says:

    Hey Christoph

Kindly keep your kanuk opinions to yourself and leave us alone.

You and your ilk have screwed the pooch enough in Canada for the entire life history of mankind.

Don’t ride south of the border and try to be a preacher man.

The idea of we screwed it up and you can too just ain’t an attractive proposition for many.

  11. MerlinOS2 says:

    BTW

I took a trip to Canada last summer and was amused how all the gals there told me about how you super slugs were wham bam thank you mam sort of guys.

Each and every one told me they lusted for Americans who knew how to do the deal.

And yet you have legalized prostitutes.

I have to bet their income per minute of use is well above the minimum wage.

  12. MerlinOS2 says:

Yes Gals saying hey local Canadian you had your fun and you got me started but now I have to do the hard work to find an American to finish the deed.

They got tired after so many years of letting the fingers doing the walking.

Look at any dance palace south of the border and see how many of those babes have brought what they got and are willing to give it out.

So shut up fool you ain’t got nothing to say we want to hear.

After that we will discuss what I want to do to your grandmother, quietly.

  13. MerlinOS2 says:

But if she gets a vote it will be a landslide, have you got all that?

  14. Christoph says:

Have all the Canadian girls you want, Merlin; my girlfriend’s Australian.

Yet A.J.’s record of political prognostication leaves much to be desired.
