Funeral Crasher Slithers Away

Published by at 3:30 pm under All General Discussions

Michelle Malkin is about to post a response from Lt Gov Catherine Knoll in what appears to be a lame attempt to slither out of the lime light after she crashed a funeral for a fallen hero and made inappropriate political comments.

I just got off the phone with Sal Sirabella, Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll’s chief of staff. They are in the midst of drafting a letter of apology to Marine Sgt. Joseph Goodrich’s family, which I will post as soon as Sirabella faxes it over. Sirabella read parts of the letter on the phone, and it will include boilerplate pablum about how Knoll “supports the troops” and is “sorry for the misunderstanding” (as if the family is somehow to blame for misinterpreting her anti-war sermonizing at Sgt. Goodrich’s mass?).

Meantime, Sirabella says that Knoll has no plans to make herself available for public comment about her obnoxious crashing of Sgt. Goodrich’s funeral. She will not hold a press conference.

Be prepared to be disappointed and angry. Just the way I was when I saw Rendell’s excuse and caveat ridden non-apology. Just fess up to a bad move and stop with all the alibis!

UPDATE:

Michelle Malking now has the apology up – and it is a press release. And it mentions a phone mail message to the wife.

It has its moments, but it really is indicative of the problem with the left politicizing funerals. Recall their efforts to take pictures of returning caskets?

I withdraw the reservations in my earlier remarks. Apparently this politician is dumb as a box of rocks. So’s her boss.

  2. On CNN’s crawl this morning, they said that Baker Knoll had “attended a funeral and handed out a business card.” I suppose from their viewpoint, what’s all the fuss about?
