Islam Is Tiring Of Islamo Fascism
The dream of Islamo Fascism, the take over of the world and the final elimination of the infidels, was a major part of the glue that held the ideaology together. It envisioned the Islamic Warriors fighting the Great Satan and destroying it and its evil influences. And through the 1990’s (thanks Bill) and culminating with 9-11, the dream was coming true. Then America began to tear that dream apart. And now Islamo Fascism is all about mass murdering Muslims for headlines. That is where we have come over nearly 6 years since 9-11.
And it is clear that Islam is tiring of Islamo Fascism. We see it in the polls on suicide bombings, we see it as Iraqis stand up and purge Iraq of al-Qaeda, and we see it as those who once fought the Great Satan realize how truly screwed up the whole idea was:
The last time Ahmed Al Shayea was in the news, he was in the hospital at the Abu Ghraib prison in Baghdad, being treated for severe burns from the truck bomb he had driven into the Iraqi capital on Christmas Day 2004.
Today, he says, he has changed his mind about waging jihad, or holy war, and wants other young Muslims to know it. He wants them to see his disfigured face and fingerless hands, to hear how he was tricked into driving the truck on a fatal mission, to believe his contrition over having put his family through the agony of believing he was dead.
At 22, the new Ahmed Al Shayea is the product of a concerted Saudi government effort to counter the ideology that nurtured the 9/11 hijackers and that has lured Saudis in droves to the Iraq insurgency. The deprogramming, similar to efforts carried out in Egypt and Yemen, is built on reason, enticements and lengthy talks with psychiatrists, Muslim clerics and sociologists.
I am sure there are many more muslims like this who are now truly regretting they fell for the lies of al-Qaeda.
Durn that reminds me of the old joke from Mort Sahl when he said some expected political manipulation when Lyndon Johnson created the JSC but a congressional hearing looked in to it and determined the moon was closer to Huston than it was to Cape Canaveral.
The software side of the whole computer world is a bunch of incestuous bunch of idiots that cant get a clue.
The hardware guys out punch them every day almost as an after thought.
We now have multi core processors that the software side is pounding their pud to try to use in the most in even the most basic of abilities.
It really is a sad thing to watch when you think about it.

The code name for OS/2 before if was released to to production was Merlin.

All that being said,I agree with the view of this being a cold war with Islam….and our last cold war was what, 70 years long…..It is going to be a long hard slog, imho but well worth it!

I don’t know if you have ever been there like I have to have seen it, but even the most extreme right Christians that the left types mock as “fundies” don’t have the total immersion that the Muslims do.
Every person over there has Islam as the thread that makes up the fabric of their life.
It’s not a Sunday goto church thing and move on for the rest of the week.
It’s from the rising of the sun until the day is done and nothing alters in between.
Each time in the past Islam has tried to assert itself in the manner their books of religion put forward there was a massive undertaking on a long term basis to counter it.
Having said that , since there are about a billion Muslims in the world to recruit from and AQ is having their butts kicked and have their leaders crying for recruits to do their deeds, it would lead one to think that they know this is a bunch of hijackers trying to use them to put their own agenda forward.
Otherwise if they bought into the deal as being real we would have whole floods of bodies being thrown at us each day and that simply doesn’t exist.
Simply put even the mideast isn’t buying into their dog and pony show, but in other news the Dems here are running with it like it’s the best thing since sliced bread.
Sort of reminds me of the old joke of trying to climb a flashlight beam.
If this was catching fire we would have a whole lot more major stuff going on.
But that does not mean by any stretch that it won’t take years to stamp out those who support this meme.
And believe me the only way to eliminate it is stamp them out. Your not going to change their mind or negotiate with them, it’s not in the cards.
Even as we view the spectacular stunts these guys pull in Iraq and Afghanistan those aren’t any thing but show stories.
The dudes we are fighting have many facets and the local fight there is only one.
These guys have a hundred year plan and a lot thought to back it up.
The euros have thousands of their followers inserted into their population and no body knows where to point their gun and when to pull the trigger if all hell breaks loose.
Not a very nice situation.
So what it boils down to is we have a bunch of wackjobs trying to scam a religious war onto a whole population and not making their argument stick.
Yeah they can attract the young and idealist types but they don’t have real traction in the masses they really need to push their idea forward.
That doesn’t mean we can ignore them , if we do , they will hit us where it hurts if they get a chance.
We are up against trying to kill all the cockroaches in the world and have at our backside to worry someone will want to protect them as an endangered species.
Life is fun, but this doesn’t make it as one of it’s best moments.

OH. MY. GOD. People you have GOT to read this. These guys are from Brookings Inst. and have been uber critical. Now they say we might just win this thing. But most interesting, they say the critics of Bush here in the US seem completely out of touch with what is going on in Iraq … AND THE NYT PRINTED IT!
