Bush Polls Rising While Congress Sees Stunning Drops

Published by at 9:51 am under 2008 Elections,All General Discussions

Not a big surprise. Congress forgets that Americans love their Presidents and their support goes up the closer they get to ‘retirement’ as thanks for putting up with all of us. So we have two polls showing Bush with growing support and one showing Congress tanking. Rassmussen has Bush at nearly 40% support (39%), while Zogby has Bush at 34%. Close enough to be good news for Bush.

But Congress is getting whacked in the Zogby poll with a 14% approval – 83% disapproval ratio. That is absolutely stunning. Bush is clearly looking much better in comparison to the lame Congress. It all depends on how much blame goes to each party, but the Dems are doing a damn good job of keeping hope alive for the GOP in 2008. We may see Reid and Pelosi deposed if this continues.

    Soothsayer,

The point is that the President’s approval rating is higher than Congress. Is it really that important that you use older polls to show how he’s rating was at one time lower? AJ’s point was that since your quoted polls his approval rating has gone up. Pay attention to the message. You don’t even have to read between the lines on this one!!

It’s so interesting to see which polls the Left thinks (and uses) are good.

I am so impressed with how much the Left has misinterpreted their poll data…or are using to make their fantasy case. Keep-it-up!

It’s tough to be beholden to a billionaire megalamaniac that loves socialism. NOT AMERICAN.

And WE WILL NEVER FORGET what the Left has tried to do to our country. Sixties redux, NOT!

    1. Bush has bounced between 34 and 39% for months. Even persons with only a cursory understanding of pollling or statistics would know this does not constitute any meaningful uptick:

    Jul 17 39 59
    Jun 35 62
    May 36 61
    Apr 39 59

    2. Americans do NOT love THIS president. 60% think he’s a horse’s ass. Stop drinkin’ the Kool-Aid.

Congress is 49% Republican. A generic approval rating for “Congress” means nothing. Take a look at the Rasmussen polling for ’08 Senatorial races, however:

Wednesday, July 18, 2007: If the Congressional Election were held today, 46% of American voters say they would currently vote for the Democrat in their district while 37% would pull the voting lever for a Republican.

They call that a landslide. And I can’t freakin’ wait for the whining.

The Left uses polls to make decisions.
Then it uses polls for affirmation.
Finally, its media subsidiary drives the polls.

The point being Bush is not running again and a lot of those people in Congress are.

Bush has remained relatively steady for some time in spite of the efforts and the efforts of your counterparts on the right to drive him down.

Which is loonier, the leftie who says Bush is like Hitler or the rightie who says Bush is selling out America to Mexico?

The level of looniness inherent in either position is likely to cause severe stress on the fabric of spacetime (and associated quantum-mechanical and relativistic effects) in the region of the LIQ (Loon In Question).

Terrye: Bush is not running again and a lot of those people in Congress are.

That\’s exactly the point – but you don\’t get it: In \’06, a majority of the incumbencies up for grabs in the Senate were Democrats, which usually means you lose seats. Not this time. Dems won ALL of their contested incumbents. Republicans got their asses kicked:

Democratic candidates defeated six Republican incumbents: Rick Santorum (Penn.), Mike DeWine (Ohio), Lincoln Chafee (R.I.), Jim Talent (Mo.), Conrad Burns (Mont.), and George Allen (Va.). No Democratic incumbents were defeated.

In \’08, there are 21 Republicans and 12 Dems slated. The low congressional ratings are going to hurt Republicans a whole lot MORE than they will hurt Democrats. Combine that with the 10% generic lead now sported by the Democrats and there is a likely further shift in the Senate, with a potential blow-out of Republicans.

Why do you think the moderate Republicans – like Collins in Maine – are so desperate to get off the sinking ship that is the SS Bush. 60% of Americans loathe the guy. He\’s a loser; his Legacy will be disaster-piled-upon-disaster; he will go down as the worse president in US history.

I wouldn\’t hire him to paint my garage.
