Classic Biased Poll
The ARG poll out that claims nearly half the country wants to impeach Bush and over half wants to impeach Cheney is as bogus as they come. It must be a push poll with the some weasely wording, after a list of potential ‘crimes’, along the lines of ‘given these claims would you consider impeachment’ or something. But look at the date of the survey – July 3-5. A telephone survey during America’s birthday celebration? Yeah, the only people home are pissed off liberals or far right nut cases. ARG just did us all a favor and proved once and for all polls are all meaningless. All of them. The wording and the interpretations of results are so wide open, and people spin them beyond comprehension, that the results are meaningless. Just like Zogby’s claims, running up to the 2004 election Bush was unpopular because he would lump ‘some concern’ with ‘don’t support’ to make it appear over 50% of the country did not like Bush. We all know the results of that election. Polls have become PR propaganda. Outliers lie outside the norm for a reason. The reason is they are misleading. I dare the Democrats to start impeachment based on this poll. I dare them.
I checked the internals of this poll -there were 10% more Dems polled then Reps . I would like to know who owns ARG – you can’t find that info on their site.
I am always cautious about these private concerns – you sometimes find that, like the groups calling for the Fairness Doctrine, they are run by former Democratic strategists. They may claim to be bi-partisan but they are not.
Those who want to impeach Pres. Bush are the x-treme fringe. Impeach him for what? For keeping us safe? Bush has not committed a impeachable offense, and no matter what they claim, is bogus.
This is something that will anger voters across partylines, and won’t do any good fpr dems, and the truthers.
Impeach the Pres. Let’s think about this for a nano second when 9/11 occured I would say almost 100% of the discussions was where will the next attack occur on our homeland. Six years later this Pres. has kept our homeland safe not careing what the left had to say with their personal attacks on him or his administration. Those castings stones today will regret when this Pres. is not here to protect us tommorrow!
ARG is not generally known as a political polling group.
They mainly do consumer marketing research
They have done some political polling from google searches, but they generally seem to have a left bias from comparable polls.
Don’t know how long they have been going at it but I have found polls they have conducted on Howard Dean and John Kerry and the poll results seemed to favor the dem candidates and most were loaded up with more dems than reps.
Here is a good showing of how far out of line the ARG poll on impeachment is and this is from a Democrat supporting site and even they show how far the numbers are off.
People have been crying “impeachment” for FIVE YEARS already. I’d love to see the House file articles of impeachment (and take a massive PR hit), but I’m convinced that they’re all a bunch of pussies in this matter and get their rocks off making threats they’ll never follow through on. They KNOW the idea would be a loser. Cripes, even a majority of the death-before-amnesty/seal-the-borders-now crowd, I would guess, still support the president on Iraq and the War on Terror.
I have found about 6 or 7 websites all on the extreme left that are trying to push the impeachment issue and one is even raising “grassroots” money to do polling.
You have to look at the base poll questions, because some of them have conditions before impeachment is specified and still the vast number of polls show it’s a loosing cause.
There is a whole lot of spin going on here.
It doesn’t matter if 100% of the people “want” him to be impeached. It isn’t a recall election, it isn’t something that is done because you don’t like someone. It isn’t used simply to remove an unpopular politician from office. Impeachment is for actual criminal deeds and it takes 2/3 of the Senate to convict. It isn’t a political ploy to disgrace someone politically.
Again, 50% of the people in this country are below the median intelligence level. What does that tell you about opinion polls?
Sister Toldjah did a post on the internals in this poll and they are off, but I think that some people just say whatever they think will get a reaction when someone asked them a stupid question like this. And besides, saying something like: If it were true that the president were a child molesting serial killer cannibal..would you support impeaching him…is really kind of dumb.
