Plutonium + Beryllium + Polonium = Mushroom Cloud

Ed Morrissey caught sight of what has to be the most insane thing I have seen in all my life.

Georgian customs officers sent a car carrying a mixture of plutonium and beryllium back into Azerbaijan after foiling an attempt to smuggle the materials over the border, Georgian television reported.

Customs officials found the materials, which can be used in nuclear bombs, in what appeared to be a routine check as the car was driven over the border from Azerbaijan, the Imedi television station reported.

This is very disturbing on many fronts, not just the fact this material should have been confiscated. These materials are key to nuclear bombs – how can anyone let these get out of their hands? But even worse is where this happened. Georgia is one of the places Litvinenko is known to have visited many times to meet up with his Chechen terrorist buddies. It is a place Alexander Lugovoi claimed Litvinenko visited during the time Polonium 210 was being traipsed around London at the Lugovoi and Litvinenko meetings. I have this post which covers a lot of the connections between Litvinenko and Georgia I have discoverd while watching the Litvinenko saga unfold.

What is scary is the Plutonium and the Beryllium are not all the materials needed for a crude nuclear bomb built upon the designs of the first bombs made in the middle of the last century. You need one more element to make a bomb: Polonium. Polonium and Beryllium are used in the nuclear trigger which causes the Plutonium to go critical and explode. A trigger I suspect is not too different in design to the one the Clinton administration foolishly leaked to Iran.

Needless to say it is worrisome these materials show up around the same time as the Polonium showed up across London and Moscow and Hamburg. The links to Litvinenko are becoming all too coincidental.
