Anbar Repeating In Diyala

Published by at 8:39 am under All General Discussions,Diyala,Iraq

One of the last throes of al Qaeda in Anbar Province, right before the Sunni’s switched allegiences en masse, was the use Chlorine attacks. The attacks were a sign of al Qaeda desparation. The use of chemical weapons signalled a willingness to use chemical weapons on Muslims in order to try and regain control over a province in which they were rapidly losing their grip. Chlorine gas is an ugly killer. It is clearly a weapon designed to instill more fear than casualties. It is an indicator of al Qaeda’s situation. And now we see these same desparate, brutal methods in Diyala:

A truck bomb laden with chlorine gas exploded in a market area in a mostly Shi’ite town north of Baghdad on Tuesday, killing 45 people and wounding 60, police said on Wednesday.

The attack in volatile Diyala province took place in a market area in the town of Abu Sayda, a source in the police headquarters in Diyala’s capital of Baquba. News of the attack did not emerge until Wednesday.

Note: This report says the US has not yet been able to confirm the Chlorine – but the death toll is real. As the noose tightens, al Qaeda will thrash about. It is their way. They believe heaven is laid out with numbers of dead bodies before them. And they are so consumed with their hate of life and reality they do not care if they are Muslim bodies or not. And this is their Achilles’ Heel. All the attacks we see in Iraq are not primarily against America – they are primarily against Iraqi Muslims. The Iraqis will not tolerate this for long at all. And this is not a theory of mine. It can be seen as more and more Sunni’s bail on al Qaeda.

Here is what should be breaking news across American screens – a top Sunni cleric who has been vocally anti-American condemning al Qaeda:

Al-Qaeda has lost its most powerful friend in Iraq: Harith al-Dari, the country’s most influential Sunni cleric and a prominent anti-American figure, has rejected al-Qaeda’s vision of an Islamic state, telling TIME that Iraqis “will not accept such a system.” In a sharp departure from his long-standing view of the terror group, al-Dari now says al-Qaeda has “gone too far.” He also repudiates recent statements on Iraq by Osama bin Laden’s deputy, saying: “Ayman al-Zawahiri doesn’t represent Iraqis.”

But al-Dari’s change of heart on al-Qaeda is not necessarily good news for the Bush administration. The Sunni cleric remains an implacable foe of the U.S. occupation, and of the Shi’ite-led Iraqi government of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki. He is dismissive of the “surge” in Baghdad, insisting that no solution to Iraq’s problems is possible while American troops remain — and rejects as “insincere and meaningless” al-Maliki’s efforts to reach out to the Sunnis.

al Dari’s group, the 1920 brigades, has not become pro American for sure. But they have aligned with tribes willing to purge Iraq of al Qaeda. If al Dari’s group decides to support a democratic Iraq to expedite the departure of Americans then it would be a huge shift in the Iraq situation. I would not be surprised we see more and more Sunni’s breaking the ties with al Qaeda and taking up arms against them. The Sunni’s are not the kind of people to be cowed with violence against innocent civilians.

You better be careful, all this news is going to throw Soothie into a tizzy!

He/she will have to ask Mr Soros for a reassignment to seminar caller or to be sent back to the Soros re-education camp for a refresh course because it isn’t going well for them. In other words, their war plan is failing! LOL

The song soothie will most identify with goes like this:

They’re coming to take me away, ha-haaa.
They’re coming to take me away, ho ho, he he, ha ha,
To the funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time
And I’ll be happy to see those nice young
Men in their clean white coats and
They’re coming to take me away, ha-haaa!

To the happy home with trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they’re coming to take me away, ha-haaa!

Sorry off topic. I was just reading Richard Lowry’s book, Marines in the Garden of Eden and was surprised to learn that in the first days of OIF, March 2003, Marines captured an Al-Quds General in An Nasiriyah fighting along side the Iraqi army, and Saddam Fedayeen. How did a terrorist organization get so ingrained into the defense of Iraq in such a short time?? I thought every one said there were no terrorists in Iraq?

SHHHH don’t tell anyone it is a secret. LOL

And they say Bush is in denial!

AJ: hi, did you get my email?

Sorry for the off-topic comment – but George Soros just called to tell me:

Disgraced Wolfowitz to resign from the World Bank this afternoon. The bank’s board is close to completing an “exit strategy” that will allow World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz to resign this afternoon and “still save some face” over the issue of his efforts to seek a promotion and pay raise for his girlfriend at the bank.

Funny how you are glad to see Wolfowitz get canned. He was cleaning up the world banks dealings with criminal countries who were using their borrowed funds for illegal enterprises. The Democrats speak about cleaning up corruption yet they crow about taking down some one who was doing the cleaning. You make no sense.

Check flopping aces, new post about ties between the two. I bet if this was Clinton in office the whole MSM would have thousands of investigators combing through Saddam’s records to justify the invasion. Not to mention how many Aspirin plants would have been found to be making WMD’s. 🙂

What sucks about the entire Wolfowitz thing is that he TOLD them his girlfriend worked there, they said its no problem. He TOLD them he shouldn’t have any input in her pay, they said no problem. They transferred her over to a different section or something with a pay raise that was equal to the promotion she was up for before Wolfowitz came in. NOW they want to crucify him for it? That is just plain moronic.

The left are morons. I have no kinder, gentler way of putting it. They are simply cement-headed morons.

    I wholeheartedly second that, Crosspatch.

Sorry for the multiple posts, my work connection is slow and buggy sometimes. AJ I have no problem if you want to delete my last two posts talking about AQ links.

  13. Terrye says:

No doubt soothie is glad to see Wolfowitz goi. After all Wolfowitz cared about poor people and tried to fight corruption. For that he will get fired, not this lame stuff about his girl friend. They will replace him with someone who will look the other way while the kickbacks and outright thievery go on. There will be no attempts at reform. And that is how the left likes it. They talk the talk, but when it comes right down to it and they have to make a choice between standing up to a thieving dictator or kissing his butt, they almost always go for the latter.

Needless to say these same people would bitch amd moan about corruption in the Iraqi government etc, but when it comes to someone the Europeans want to bribe or whatever, they look the other way. It is a shame, because the purpose of the World Bank is supposed to be to help developing nations, not rip of the American people.

  14. Terrye says:

You know something soothie, if you people were not such bottom feeding hypocrites you would admit that the real push to liberate Iraq was started by the Democrats in the Clinton administration. But you are hypocrites, you are.

  15. lurker9876 says:

Well, if this is true that Wolfowitz has resigned, then the future of the World Bank is pretty much doomed – just as much as UN’s future is.

  16. crosspatch says:

Last I heard on CNN’s website was that there were “negotiations for resignation”. Think about that for a femtosecond. If he had done anything clearly against the rules they would have outright dismissed him. And he hasn’t resigned. But is in “negotiations”. Sounds to me like they know he didn’t do anything wrong.
